    Alistair Darling Hibs connection

The Evening News - that font of all knowledge - has a story about Alistair Darling MP in a Hearts connection.

Well that is bollocks by the way because he used to stand on the terrace at ER with Labourites in the 80s and before.

    Classic politician.

Maybe because he is/was MP (not sure!) for the Gorgie side of the city? Could be wrong, but it sounds like the type of 'link' often assumed in lazy newspaper articles? Just a thought...

I think you meant class politician, or possibly Hibs class politician.

Actually, turns out it is Alistair Darling... boundary changes.

Still wondering what it's got to do with Ian Murray unless it's a personal hobby horse he's *****ing his time and "influence" on...

Don't get me wrong. Alistair was a great bloke and all that but I just find it queer that he is coming out for the maroons right now. His wife is really a nice person too.

I suppose there are votes in it.

    Potentially 400,000!

A quick classic trick with the postal votes will mean they'll all show their appreciation at the next election!

    Wrong.

Mike Crockhart is MP for Edinburgh West. This includes Murrayfield Stadium but not Tynecastle which is in Edinburgh South West. The main railway line is the boundary between the two constituencies.

So potentially, Crockhart could be the MP if they have to shift to Murrayfield.

He should be shamed into a pledge to prevent this from happening... for his sake...

It's normal for politicians to change their loyalties if it helps their careers. I remember rubbing shoulders with Darling when our kids attended the same school in Stockbridge. He was a beardy militant at the time but later on after Labour came to power and he was installed as the chancelor he became a friend of the rich bankers who he had previously despised.

As chance would have it, I now have the manchild Ian Murray as my representative in Parliament. I am at a loss as to what benefits he is bringing to South Edinburgh with his attempts to keep a failed company in West Edinburgh afloat. I wonder if South Edinburgh can borrow the West Edinburgh M.P. to represent us as we appear to be getting neglected by the man elected to look after our interests.

I would write to my M.P. on this matter but I'm led to believe he's either too busy or too tired to deal with constituents complaints due to his heavy workload.

He's probably been working in the background as Vlad's financial adviser. They did seem to follow the New Labour model.

I remember he banned me from standing in a students' election in nineteen seventy-something.

Is Crockhart a Hibs supporter? I will probably vote for him on those grounds alone.

They're all the same anyway and actually Crock seems like a pretty good chap.

Darling is more champagne socialist than militant. Maybe militant by loretto standards.

The boys at Loretto used to have to wear shorts as a uniform right up until they were 18! I think it was considered healthy to have fresh air circulating about the privates - some kind of Scouting For Boys thing anyway.

I suppose it kept them out of the local pubs and away from the Musselburgh talent. The practice was discontinued in the 70s I think.

Whatever happened to Angus McKay....now he was a proper Hibbie, had a pic of Latapy's 6th goal up in his office when he was a Minister.
