It’s not my cup of tea to be honest, I don’t mind the chanting and the over the top atmosphere, but shouting for the ball to miss or go in the water is so far removed from the way golf is played that it just seems wrong. Anyone who plays golf will tell you it’s all about being respectful and supportive.
The American golf fans have always been classless and disrespectful. I don't know what it was like pre-Seve, but they've been like that for years.

It was noticeable that the background noise was turned down a lot yesterday. Being noisy and boisterous is one thing, being disrespectful in golf is unacceptable.

No difference to us celebrating an opposition player making an arse of something during a game, or cheering our own players. Itís a team game and all based on where you are from. Totally different to every other week on tour.

Thereís no comparison between golf and football. Physical contact, aggression, play acting, dishonesty and disrespect are part and parcel of football. Golf is the exact opposite with honesty, respect for your opponent and the rules of the game at the heart of the sport.

Worse 1st day performance from Europe for as long as I can remember, I know it's the top points players in each tour but Europe still have players who are either past it or not good enough, Casey, Westwood and Poulter.

I'd wondered what the noise thing was all about. I guess they must have just cut the noise when it got over the top.

It's a shame because in spite of everything I quite like it. If the players were objecting then I'd have a problem with it but the Europeans know exactly what they're getting into and a good few of them thrive off it. Shutting the American crowd up is a career aim for many of them and I don't know how much anyone should want to sanitise that.

It shouldn't be like that every week though and fortunately it is not.

This could be a record defeat unless Europe pull the finger out.

From being 3up, Hovland and Weisberger have chucked. Just missed a small putt to let the US take a lead.

Europe currently down in 3 of the 4.

One of the worst displays by a European team in a long long time.

Harrington with some awful team selections.

    Harrington out IMO.

Thing is they're playing on a course that should be familiar to most European players, too many just not up to scratch (pardon the pun).

Sorry Iím not letting this go, but the unanimous booing at the introduction of the European players at the start of the fourkballs is scunnering ÖÖÖ totally classless twats.

I was watching last night and one of the American players was telling the crowd to calm down, I think it might have been Bryson.

It certainly wasnít Justin Thomas who I think is the worst of the Americans in winding up the vitriol of the American support. Itís refreshing to listen to the unbiased and encouraging comments of Butch Harmon. He clearly wants his country to win but has an open mind.

He's also just called De Chambeau classless after he laid his putter down because he was made to hole a short putt.

He was asked to putt a 3 footer, holed it and then laid his putter down in a strop at being asked. As if he's never missed a short putt before...

De classless is fast turning himself into the most unliked player in modern golf. They probably wouldnít admit it, but he is unpopular with the Yanks.

Absolute roaster, he's had a personality change since he beefed up. I wonder if he's had chemical assistance.

Itís fairly common in friendly match play ties to give your opponent the putt if itís ďinside the leatherĒ. Basically if itís shorter than the length of your putter minus the grip. He was being the ****** that he is.

I think USA could dominate the Ryder cup for quite a while. Outside of Rahm and Hovland there is no other Europeans capable of dominating in the game right now. Detry might given time and possibly Weisberger but Iím not sure who the next really good batch are.
I would agree. You can kind of divide European golf up into two sections - continental Europe which should be a growth area but isn't for whatever reason, and GB and Ireland, where the sport seems to be in decline, particularly in Britain.

I think having pretty much all the tournament golf locked away behind a paywall on Sky is doing huge damage to the game in the UK. It just adds another barrier to entry for young players alongside the difficulty of the game to master and the financial cost as well compared to other sports.

Thanks, Iím guessing thatís why the commentators said that he shouldnít be doing that as he had a long handled putter.

Must be more than that, 10 years ago he was being praised for physical shape. Think it was more that he decided a couple of years ago that he had to increase his clubhead speed, to keep up with Byrson, but it's ruined his game.
