SSN reporting that their place in Europe is in danger due to the multi club ownership rules
Seems heck of an unfair in saying that they had to change /adapt ownership by 1st of March by which time they would likely be in quarter finals so some accountability by the club i think.
Lyon qualifying via a technicality as well should surely lose their place first?
It's all a bit of a mess this approach to blended ownership. You can be in a group ala city or red bull and compete in same competition as well as sign players within the group for discounted prices but minority shareholders (who dont share any analysis or players) cant have shares in other clubs
Is Man C not in a multi club system too.
You just know that the next time there's a lucrative European offer up for grabs and Hibs have it in our sights that Bournemouth will do a Leicester and screw us over.
Has it ever been clarified what would happen if Hibs and Bournemout/Lorient were in the same competition in Europe? I'd understand the rule if clubs are under full ownership but where it is just a minority shareholding it makes no sense at all. In our case, BKFC have had little influence on our operations.
Think the Nottingham Forest owner moved some shares into another company, as he thought they were going to qualify for the Champions league
Yes that seems to be the way they get round it. The shareholders with the multi team interests are supposed to put their shares into a blind trust by a certain date. Last year I believe it needed to be done by June 1st, but they changed that to March this year. How anyone is going to know whether they will be in Europe in March is anyone's guess. I think with the guy in question is part of a Group who have a 60% stake in Palace but the guy himself only owns 35% of that Group. So his actual interest in Palace is around 30%. What I read is that is around the level that he may have needed to use a Blind Trust. It would be mental to get kicked out in those circumstances.
This is probably why there was a wee shake up at hibs with Bill Foleys seat being taken
At this point just allow multi club set ups. It's not going away and they never clamped down on it enough early enough to stop it starting. The alarm bells should have been ringing back when City were doing their NYFC set ups in other countries. UEFA even let Leipzig and Salzburg play each other back in 2018. There's now zero sporting integrity into limiting multi club set ups all of a sudden imo. If it matters now it should have mattered 15/20 years ago.
How do you rectify this situation now though? It's a mess of co-ownerships across Europe.
Do you set everyone a timer with shares in another club to sell by or they have to pick a team to ban from Europe? Are there loopholes that can be exploited in which case is it likely the big clubs like United and City with their lawyers will sneak through it all, leaving someone such as Palace or even ourselves out to dry?
I see no way this can be rectified without a huge legal mess or, far worse for the footballing authorities, bursting the financial bubble the game has created for itself.
Forest have written to UEFA to air their concerns. ******* grasses

Drogheda set to lose out too
Only Irish ground I have been to, went to see them play Cork Hibs years ago.
Pre game went into one of the oldest style boozers you can imagine, smokers everywhere, pints of heavy/Guinness on everyones lips, no new fangled lagers there.
Was great, people couldn't have been friendlier.
The ground itself was also a throwback to the good old days, not quite p@sh flowing down the terraces but the mens loos were of the open to the elements variety that used to be common here.
Hope they get this sorted in their favour.
