Incredible.
Anything other than a trip to Parkhead next game and the record should be broken.
This team are immense.
Incredible record and let's go break it.
Unbelievable
Truly outstanding
Well done to everyone at the club
Very few people alive have seen this. Just astonishing.
Utterly astonishing. A very proud Hibs support backing the team today. This really is a run beyond any of our wildest dreams and I’m so excited for next season with this team and a pre-season under our belt.
Seen the 22 under mcleish and still a very fond memory for me despite a league below. I’m salivating at some of the play just now and all of the components of this club is moving in the right direction finally, good football men controlling the football operation a manager finely balanced a team that is exactly that a TEAM, and a support getting fully behind the club.
When you build a team ethos without the egos it’s always going to be a better productivity, we’ve some huge characters that have stepped in and stepped up and some new positions for players we could mostly all see had something to offer thriving, a manager who found a shape to fit the squad and the positivity about hibs just keeps going for miles at the moment.
Remarkable achievement 👍💚
Should we just consider keeping the squad we have for next season and not bother signing any new players unless we have to

If we go into next season with the squad the same as it is now with the exception of:
McGrath in
New GK to challenge for #1
New striker due to those leaving.
Gayle retirement
Myko end of loan
Kwon end of loan
Holliett (is he retiring)
Bursik end of loan
Vente out for €5 million
Then I would be pretty delighted to be honest. Rudi will be a year older, Manneh will be up to speed, and I have no doubt we would sign a couple of others, especially if we confirm group stage football. Retaining a much of this squad as possible is essential.
Incredible run - let’s keep it going.
Winning is a habit and we definitely have that just now.
Love this team - love the way we play - love the club.
Long may it continue as it’s very special. Well done to the club and management for turning it around let’s finish the season stronger than ever and get 3rd.
Team deserves a sell out in final 5 games - home or away.
1947/48 was quite a season, it seems. We'd only lost 3 of our first 12 games, then went on to beat all the teams in the league. This includes some teams that no longer exist, such as Third Lanark, Airdrieonians, and Rangers.
From "The Hibees", J.R.Mackay:"Hibs made no more slips in the League, and scored four goals at Paisley and Parkhead, and Queens Park did them a good turn by winning at Ibrox. So when Hibs beat Motherwell on April 19th by five goals, they needed just one point from their last game to take the title. The last game was at Dundee, but before it was played Rangers dropped another point, at Motherwell, and so they could no longer catch Hibs. It was just as well, because Hibs lost at Dens Park."
Team for the final games: Farm, Govan, Shaw, Finnigan, Howie, Buchanan, Smith, Combe, Linwood, Turnbull, Reilly.
Hearts split the old firm. They finished 9th but Celtic were 12th.

It’s an absolutely sensational achievement.
We looked dead and buried. We were last.
It doesn’t make sense and I’m so glad it’s SDG, Liam Craig, and the rest of the coaching team overseeing it. They seem like great people.
🫡 Bishop's Uncle Barney.
Did we have a long unbeaten run with McLeish in the old 1st division? Sure I seen a post earlier mentioning it?
Lost a Cup match to Stirling in that run, and it all ended at Boghead against Clydebank. Have it in my head we won every match after that though.
Of all the shortcoming of Hibs teams over the years, it's been the lack of belief and drive that has scuppered us. Which is what makes this team all the more astonishing. Full of guts, drive and resolve. No idea what SDG is saying to them but it's great to watch.
Due to our fantastic run it is being overlooked that we have won our last 7 home games including Clydebank in the cup.
Something like for 20, against 3.
It’s almost poetry though right? 150th year as a club, player who scored the goal to win us the Scottish Cup for the first time in 114 years as manager and we’re on our longest unbeaten run since the 1940s.
Add into the mix we’re playing some amazing football and have a player closing in on 100 goals for us.
What. A. Team
Love that the last three games have shown a bit of attacking swagger at we're rattling in the goals, but this defensive record is incredible - the best I've seen in my 35 odd years following us.
They've made a mockery of anyone who approaches these 'next five games' threads with any modest expectations. The Celtic/Dundee United/Hearts run, even this Saints/Rangers/Dundee spell when you'd be well aware dropped points were a possibility somewhere - we're getting above and beyond.
If they see this out, it's one of our finest achievements. If something goes wrong, still shouldn't diminish that November-December has almost saved this club from the dark times it could have been heading for.
Anyone know what the next record would be if we keep this going?
Incredible achievement made even more incredible due to where we were earlier on this season. That its been achieved when the Tornadoes and other great Hibs teams didn't is partly due to a level of work ethic and commitment from every player I've rarely seen in Hibs teams.
It would be nice if Hibs would update the club website to include the new record, but maybe they’re waiting till the end of the season. https://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/club/h.../club-records/
Patrick McPartlin of Hibs observer did a brilliant article about the 47/48 team and run before winning the League. Didn’t realise Willie McCartney the team manager since 1936 had suddenly died of a heart attack in the January of that season. What a job he did including signing 4 of the Famous five. Is this joint all time record for hibs ? One win of a new record?
We Are All Uncle Barney
Won’t see Hibs go this many games unbeaten, in the top league, again. Unbelievable. One thing I can’t quite believe though is that, despite this run, we’re only 3 points clear in 3rd!
Agree!
Stolen from another thread, Celtic are due 2 home and 3 away post split. They won't want the Old Firm game when Celtic can win the title against The Rangers, so you can rule them playing in the 1st game. Same with the second game to avoid any chat about The Rangers giving a Guard of Honour to welcome onto the pitch the new Champions. It won't be the final game of the season, nor the 4th game, which is being played in midweek. So the Old Firm game will be the 3rd game, all assuming that Celtic have won the title by that date. So, it'll be the easiest fixture for Celtic in the 1st round of matches, which should be St. Mirren at home.
So, the Celtic fixtures will be:
Round 34: St Mirren - Home
Round 35: Aberdeen or Dundee United - Away
Round 36: The Rangers - Away
Round 37: Hibs - Home
Round 38: Aberdeen or Dundee United - Away
So, I think we'll be away to Celtic midweek on 13/14th May, live on TV. It will be Celtic's last home game, but not sure if they'll be allowed to receive the trophy then. The downside of this is Celtic away to either Dundee United or Aberdeen in the final game of the season, which could be a reserve team played assuming they are through to the final the following weekend.
I also think they'll give The Rangers the hardest possible fixture, which will be away to Easter Road on weekend 26/27th April, again live on TV. So, it'll be the New Firm derby that weekend too. All three matches live on TV, if that's possible.
So for us, it could be
Round 34: The Rangers - Home
Round 35: St. Mirren/Aberdeen - Away
Round 36: Dundee United - Home
Round 37: Celtic - Away
Round 38: Aberdeen/St. Mirren - Away
Ate the fixtures not generated via some computer ?
Seems to be all the rangers v Celtic dates to avoid are like a human is dictating
The outcome of the competition and it’s not totally random. I understand the police issue etc but the whole thing seems a bit fixed.
Never play each other 1st game of the season.
Rarely play each other midweek.
Never play each other last game of the season.
Can't be allowed to play each other when the title is to be won ?!
Rangers making 10 changes yesterday to starting line up as they value Europe more than the domestic competition.
Rangers and Celtic having home ends at Hampden Stadium.
All sounds like SFA membership integrity.
The run in 1942 was 24 in all competitions (16 in the league), but there are caveats:
- Because it was wartime it wasn't a full national league, we played in the 'southern league'. Most of the bigger teams were in that league, but no Aberdeen, Dundee clubs etc.
- In the middle of that run we drew the Summer Cup final with Rangers, which they then won on a coin toss. No idea how you count that for record purposes.
- If you look at league games only then the run actually starts earlier, because the last defeat before that 24 games started was a cup game. Looking at league games only, we went 19 unbeaten. But, as above, it wasn't a full national top flight.

The biggest highlight for me yesterday, in a game full of highlights for us, was seeing both Dwight Gayle (for all he’s achieved in his career) and Nicky Cadden scrambling like fighter jets to close down their centre back on the halfway line in the 93rd minute of a game we were winning 4v0. Outstanding.
17 game run is impressive especially some of the results we have had like against the OF …
3-1 Ross County.
3-1 Aberdeen.
2-1 Hertz.
1-0 Killie.
1-1 St Johnstone.
3-3 Sevco.
3-1 Motherwell.
1-1 Ross County.
2-0 Aberdeen.
0-0 St Mirren.
2-1 Celtic.
3-1 Dundee Utd.
2-1 Hertz .
1-1 Killie.
3-0 St Johnstone.
2-0 Sevco.
4-0 Dundee ….. FOR 36 .. AGAINST 13 …. Remarkable 🇳🇬
It can be both, think of prompt engineering (the way you use Gen AI such as chatgpt).
Software Engineer writes a code to randomly select the fixtures however the output must avoid a number of scenarios i.e. No old firm as first game of the season.
Chatgpt, etc are new because they're so readily available, but what they do isn't anything hugely knew. They just have access to more data due to being open source, and are quicker due to more resources. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they used Chatgpt or similar for the fixtures.
The first half of game one was absolutely stinking. Dwight Gayle saved the team a hounding, as that was a 45 that seemed to pretty much confirm we were well capable of going down.
And they went through really rough spells in game two, three, five and six. Amazing how many times this run could have fallen by the wayside early on - anyone think at 2-0 down going on five v Rangers that we'd get a point and go another 11 unbeaten?
Nice to look back on all of that with a wry smile and safe in the knowledge they've developed some real guts since the season's low points. Maybe it's because of those low points, who knows.
I like the fact as well that we have won eight out of the seventeen games by a two or more goal margin .
I remember Aberdeen at the start of the season on their run where they won something like seven out of eleven of their games by a single goal and it felt that they were to a degree crawling over the finishing line in a lot of games …
I don’t think we have been like that on our run .
