Maybe one for the older generation. Tina Turner dying has given me a flashback to the early 80's where there were still jukeboxes in most bars. After having a few I would play "Nutbush City Limits" over and over again until it really started to get on people's mammaries. The intention wasn't to get on people's nerves, I just loved the song.
Anyone else have a jukebox favourite that's not necessarily their favourite all time song?
Used to start off in the Brunswick before home games in the late 70s and Sheena Is A Punk Rocker by The Ramones would always be my first choice on the jukebox to start the day.
Johnny Cash Ring of Fire was always a jukebox favourite of mine.

When I was using them Dexys or Elvis Costello, never a particular number. I was working in Carlisle for a couple of days in 1980. One of my colleagues decided to put 50p in the jukebox. This gave him 20 songs. Which he preceded to pick Bridge over troubled water 20 times as he didn't fancy any of the others.
Sneaky Pete's had the best selection of songs in Edinburgh. Never needed to put money in, it was on all night.

I must have played "Chain Gang" by Sam Cooke a thousand times.
My brother and I were pleasantly surprised to find SOL on a jukebox in New Orleans a few years ago.
Ironically, "Won't Get Fooled Again" by the Who probably hoovered up more money than any other for me over the years, as it was almost 9 minutes long, and therefore offered more bang for your buck....
Sir Duke, Stevie Wonder was a favourite of mine. Particularly in the Clan Tavern 😉

Two different pubs that we frequented, but my first tunes up, respectively, always seemed to be

Neither of them are my favourite song by the artist and I can't even remember the last time I listened to either.

I worked in a pub in Thistle St called Marr's Bar, Archie the owner had one of the best juke box's in Edinburgh, Lido Shuffle by Boz Scaggs and Can We Still be Friends by Robert Palmer got played to death by me.
I probably put it on as well! Marrs was a regular Friday or Saturday night haunt for us for a quick pint en route to Tiffanys.Quote:

The old guys at Pockets (Chesser) must have hated me and my mate. Being young (at the time) we were the only ones that put money in the jukebox but being skint we had to choose carefully to get our monies worth.

I swear we got an hour from 6 songs.

There was definitely more ceremony/anticipation around putting on a song pre-CDs/digital. Waiting for your choice to come on the jukebox or the sound of the needle hitting vinyl gave the music more importance somehow.
