Hibernian 2 v 1 Hamilton Academicals
Doidge 64
Hanlon 86
Alex Gogic rose at the back post to head home a Dales corner after 17 minutes to give Hamilton a half-time lead
Jack Ross rung the changes at half-time with the ineffective Slivka and Hallberg being replaced by Omeonga and Newall
The change seemed to work after 10 minutes when Kamberi played a ball inside the full back Martin Boyle scampered onto it chipped the ball over the goalkeeper and watched in agony as the ball rebounded off the post Luckily the ever vigilant Christian Doidge was there to knock the ball home getting there just ahead of Gogic
Just when it looked as though Accies would hang on for a well deserved point Paul Hanlon Captain Courageous rose to determinedly head home a Boyle cross with five minutes to go

Vale Of Leven who had previously won the Scottish Cup were Hibernian’s opponents in the semi-final
The match that was due to take place at the Holy Ground on 15th January was cancelled due to frost and fog at the last minute much to the disappointment of the already gathered large crowd
The match took place one week later and the visitors looking good took an early lead
‘Darling Willie Groves’ then took a hand in proceedings grabbing an excellent equaliser and giving HIBS a second half lead. James Montgomery making sure of a Hibernian win with a third
Hibernian Park erupted in celebrations the slum team from Edinburgh’s Irish neighbourhood were in the final of the Scottish Cup Or were they?
Vale of Leven lodged a protest stating that the man who had destroyed them Willie Groves was in receipt of illegal payments accusing him of professionalism a serious charge in those days
It was to roll on to be one of the most bitter and controversial cases ever heard by the SFA
