One of my favourite films, my mum loved Mel Brooke’s films so I watched them from a young age. Peter Boyle remains my favourite on screen version of the monster.
Mel Brookes had a couple of roles in the film as well as directing and the only Scot in the cast Monte Landis (born in Glasgow but became US citizen) is still alive too but maybe not that notable, had a repeat role in the Monkees TV show in the 60s.

Sad news, met him several times in the 80’s. He made us make the pockets bigger on the table we installed for an exhibition in St George’s Hall Liverpool. Climbed on the table and tried to get his knee in the corner pockets, after some discussion with the organisers we had to strip the cushions back and re cut the the rubber. 😂
