Are any of the players out on loan, playing today
Printable View
I am "watching" the game on BET 365 and looking at the stats and it seems a case of "deja vu" with the big team - loads of possession, 9 corners to 1, more shots on target ....AND NO EFFIN GOALS.
Dunfermline today, like the Premier teams against Hibs are much more productive in the final third.
This suggests to me that our teams are becoming predictable in the way we are playing and easy to beat.
Worrying!
It finished 2 nil to Dunfermline, much better 2nd half performance but still no end product.
Is there a game tonight? Have not seen anything on the main site.
Hopefully a few get some game time tomorrow and give johnson some thinking.
U18’s cup
Rangers v Hibs
No socials from Hibs on this game??
1-0 to Rangers at HT
FT 0-2 to the mini Huns
I see LJ hints at more first team involvement for the future with Megwa praised after Saturday.
U18s away to celtic tomorrow 7pm.
Tom Carter was also listed as on the bench but didn't see him among the subs - was definitely on the pitch doing warm-up though. Would imagine Schofield back to Huddersfield in January and Johnson as third choice - clubs don't tend to go with just two goalies these days, unless you've heard something
18’s Celtic 0 Hibs 0 ht.
Hibs take the lead 1-0

Report on the game last night.
Laidlaw with a goal and assist with Rudi getting a assit also and was at the heart of most of the action according to the report.
No mention of Reuben.
The wee Derby tomorrow at 7pm.
Many going?
Hibs 2-0 Hearts 0 20 minutes played.
3-0
Ht 3-0
Nice one 👍 any scorers? How's rudi playing?
Opposite end so couldn’t see the scorer’s.
Strong first thirty for Hibs, even last fifteen.
The guys filming couldn’t even tell me the scorers🙁.
Hibs 3, Hearts 0. McGarva’s brace and one from Jacob MacIntyre have Hibs comfortably ahead at the break
Penalty Ethan laidlaw 4-0
Go for 7
we want seven
we want seven
I don’t know why some of these young lads haven’t been nearer the first team, certainly one or two of them should have made the bench recently.
Can’t do any worse than Henderson or Tavares, surely?
Great performance from the lads tonight, never gave hertz a sniff. I've said it before but Laidlaw is streets ahead of Tavares as a left sided attacker and Jacob McIntyre must surely be a better option than some of the non triers in our midfield.
A lot of new names, to me anyway, in that team which is exciting.
Can we bring any of these guys into the team, or are they too young, would rather have home grown talent playing. Mind you lambs to the slaughter springs to mind....maybe not

Cracking result, however im reliably informed (Grandson,in photo above) that Hearts had a fair few younger players tonight.
Unsure if this result tells you everything about things at Hibs right now or if that’s restricted to defeats, but well done to the young team anyway, great result for them and brilliant to see us beat them at any level.
I don't think it's as simple as that, they have done well against other kids but are they better than the player occupying the shirt in the first team? Johnson and Kean see these boys every day and if they were better they'd be getting their shot. The youth team lost to Dunfermline the other day and were held up as everything that's wrong with the club or taking us everything we need to know etc.
I agree with your sentiment, it would be good to see them get their chance but they have to be better than the player they're replacing.
They might not be ready but that doesn’t stop us persisting with players who aren’t ready like Melkerson, Bojang, Henderson, Tavares, McGregor etc. I still think Hibs are guilty of favouring players signed over our youngsters and still struggle to see a pathway for our U19s given the size of the squad and the number of signings still required.
Agree with all that however I think if you are as a coach concerned with mindset or attitude of players starting regularly then a good opportunity to shake it up a bit. Agree there will be s huge gap between playing against kids and first team players however I would like to see some getting a chance.
Quite possibly, but like persisting with Drey Wright last season, at some point we will have to accept a small step backwards in the short term for benefit in the mid term if. None of the youngsters signed, at great expense, look like they will make it and are potentially now just blocking the pathway for the U19s. Who also may not make it but they at least have some pedigree and still to be tried.
The 19s (minus Johnson,Blaney and Aiken who were on Scotland duty) lost to Dunfermline Development team who had a few first eam players playing in their side. We obviously won't know if the young guys are ready but let's see them getting a chance rather than persisting with players who are obviously not good enough or not trying a leg.
Some of them must be close to getting a chance.
O’Connor and Laidlaw both play in a position where we’re now struggling due to various injuries, Aiken plays in a position where we could do with a bit of freshening up. Cabraja hasn’t fully nailed down LB yet, leaving a possible opening for Oscar McIntyre and you’d expect Johnson to be pushing to get into a few squads ahead of a loan goalkeeper.
That’s a pretty decent situation to be in. Playing for our first team isn’t exactly a cushy number right now and I think Johnson can largely feel justified in not having given these players much more of a look in thus far. I’d expect that to change during the 2nd half of the season.
I think that Hearts have some of their "older" youngsters with the first team in Spain at the mo, and younger players have been temporarily promoted in the meantime.
That said, they got scudded by 6 from someone else (Motherwell?) the week before shipping 5 to us - thats a learning curve !!
Main point for all these players is improvement rather than results - if we bring a few through to be first team regulars, that is the main thing
Steve Kean is doing an excellent job, would t surprise me if he gets the job once Johnson is punted - the added excitement for me would be much like Southgate he knows the young players inside out and don’t think he’d hesitate to include some in the first team.
Great result, love beating them at any age group, and 5-0 is tremendous for their confidence and belief in future derbies. Good stuff boys.
Jay Magarva is a new name to me, any info on this young lad?
I've watched our 18s a few times.
On physicality alone, there's a big gulf between the size of e.g. Melkersen and say, Laidlaw or Aitken. Many of the signings we've made in the past 12 months were made to transition between our U18s and ghe first team.
Xavi Simons.
19 years old, 5 ft 10 and 58kg.
But he's just played in the World Cup.
Size isn't everything.
Just noticed on SPFL now, away reserve game v Queen of the South tomorrow, has been postponed
How many games have the development team played this season?
"He is getting better and better": Rapid rise of Jacob Blaney, a long-term replacement option for Ryan Porteous at Hibs
With Ryan Porteous set to depart after rejecting a new contract, the Hibs recruitment department will already be scouring the market for a new centre-half in January.
