I lived in Alabama for a bit in my younger days and keep in touch with a number of people from the South.

They still support him. They genuinely think it is the rest of America and the world who are tearing America apart, forgetting God and so on. Mental but it’s how a large part of America thinks and lives.

Washington is a very democratic city, it was D.C. and federal cops protecting the building, the mayor has been vocally anti Trump too, so that would be surprising. Very weird stories about the National Guard refusing requests to intervene, were they verified?

Interestingly according to a statement put out, it was VP Pence who ordered the National Guard to assist local law enforcement, and the president doesn't appear to have been involved in this at all. I do wonder if Pence will have law enforcement and the National Guard ready and prepared and call for it tomorrow?
