Well...
you lucky git Fury
lucky lucky lucky
Fury has to KO him or he loses
come on Usyk
Tyson is in real trouble here
Same again, please Usyk
air shots from Usyk he could get KO'd himself
Final round, Usyk wins unless Fury's knocks him out.
Usyk has done it! Was so excited when he nearly took him out. A KO would be the icing on the cake but I think he’s done enough!
Last round to go
bet365 got Catterall fav next week, i agree
Usyk wins it for me, and I say that as a Fury fan.
Well done Usyk.
That was brilliant. Happily watch them do that again.
I'm thinking Usyk by 1 or 2 but a draw wouldn't shock me.
There’s surely no way they will call this a draw?
Chucked a fiver on the draw at 14/1
Getting offered £12.27 by Paddy Ppwer now
Usyk winner for me, but draw wouldn’t surprise me
fantastic
hope he finally knocks him out in the re-match :greengrin
Disgrace it was so close. Shows you what ‘personality’ does
who scored 114-113 Fury  and how much would he get in the brown envelope
what a lack of atmosphere
Can’t believe a judge had fury. Glad usyk got it.
Incredible scoring someone saying Fury won. Only one judge gave a fair decision Osyk clearly winning by three or four rounds. Absolutely ridiculous
Fury is a disgrace. Saying he lost the fight because Usyk’s country is at war.
*unt
people are siding with the country at war **** off
What a fight!! Split decision my arse, two warriors though.
Fury is an absolute twat to be fair
Won the fight - aye right mate

And now Fury embarrassing himself by claiming he won the fight and lost because Ukraine are at war. What a walloper.
Pretty close fight the 10-8 was the difference. Fury sat back and tried to nick the undisputed championship whilst Usyk grabbed it. Think fury need to change trainer and cut off his daft dad and crew. The fact they let him fight Ngannou in the shape he was shows their professionalism.
I'd take the rematch to be close also, looking forward to it
Fury is a defeated twat!!!!!
just 10 more seconds and Fury was down
Usyk went to hospital afterwards with a broken jaw
Scoring in boxing has always been problematic, it’s very subjective not everyone sees or is looking for the same thing, unfair there’s not real alternative unless you go on punches landed .
Pleased that Fury lost, I’ve never been a fan, he’ll most likely win the rematch though
Why will he most likely win the rematch?
I thought he’d win last night as he’d clearly prepared well. But Usyk was excellent and showed what an intelligent boxer he is. I expect the rematch to be very similar and could go either way.

His promoter said it was just a suspected broken jaw but I don't think it was broken, he'll be ready for the rematch apparently
MikeCoppinger
Usyk needed four stitches to close a cut over his right eye, according to K2 Promotions' Alexander Krassyuk. There also was concern that Usyk suffered a broken jaw in the fight, and he was headed to a local hospital for an MRI. Usyk's assistant trainer and cutman, Russ Anber, told ESPN that the fighter didn't complain about jaw pain until after the fight.
However, Krassyuk told ESPN there is "no doubt" Usyk would be ready for the planned Oct. 12 rematch
I don't think we'll see Fury fight again. He likes to let himself go between fight so there's no way he'll be ready to go in October. He'd need to be back in camp by the summer and I just don't see that happening.
Usyk won't continue on if it's not for the rematch and I don't think he'll wait for Fury. There's nobody else for him to fight, I can't see him having much interest in fighting AJ for a 3rd time.
Fury AJ is possible but I think Fury knows deep down he's not the same fighter and there's a real possibility he could get sparked out. He's driven by ego and he can claim that he was cheated by the Judges against Usyk and he's never truly been beat, despite the fact he was clearly beaten IMO.
Saying all that, I have a feeling the version of Fury from Wilder 2 or the Kiltscho fight may well have beaten Usyk.
Fury will fight in October he's had massive weight-loss in the last 6 months which drains you, as he wasn't bothered about Ngannou stupidly. He kept trim and came back much stronger for wilder. I'd probably favour him for the rematch but it's heavyweight boxing so one punch can change everything.
He reportedly got £90 million last night which is also an incentive whilst obscene.
Really good fight that deserves a rematch
The weight loss is nothing new for him, he's done that his entire career. The amount he lost post Ngannou is actually a lot lower than what he's had to do previously. I don't think that's a reason for his loss.
On Wilder, Fury was heavier in both the Wilder 2 and 3 fights. Those fights were 3 and 4 years ago now though and he doesn't live the life outside of camps.
If they do fight again, and I would say that's unlikely, Usyk will stop him IMO (which he arguably should have done last night in the 9th).
He lost a lot more when he spiralled and gave up for two years. There was a three year just past where he kept reasonably in shape between all 6 fights. The weight loss was definitely not why he lost. Usyk was better on the whole although watching it back it was closer than I thought, one round was obviously 10-8 but its 12 rounds. Punches landed was close but Usyk edged that.
They will definitely fight again. What fury needs to do but won't is get rid of his dad. Sugar was telling him to punch more but before 11 John said your well ahead on the scores, Tyson sat back in both the last 2, bizarre. I'm not sure how anyone would be confident either way on the rematch. What is certain is they both deserve it as it was a great fight and both fighters showed unbelievable heart.
Fury "sat back" the last 2 rounds because he was absolutely done in. He doesn't have the engine to last with someone like Usyk these days, especially in Saudi Arabia, despite it being 1am the heat and humidity would have had an impact.
We'll have to see on the rematch but as I've said IMO we'll never see Fury in a ring again.
I'd watch it again. JF is telling him to sit back as they had it in the bag. If you see it again you'll see Furys legs come back half way through 11 he was skipping round the ring, in no way he was gassed. Lennox Lewis criticising Furys tactics today and Fury saying everyone was telling him he had it in the bag. Fury needs one corner man not 3 like last night. I'd bet my house on Fury being back in the ring but we'll see as you say
Obviously he might not have had any luck if he did attack as Usyk was the more clinical

Usyk is incredible.
I think the fight was closer than many are saying. Usyk won the first 2 rounds but I think Fury won the next 4 clearly and was up at that point. 7 and 8 were close before 9 was the big round for Usyk, 10 was Usyk and I thought 11 and 12 were both close, Fury wobbled Usyk in 12 so I'd give him that. I thought a couple of round for Usyk was about right, I've seen some claiming it was a 9 or 10 round win for him which is almost as bonkers as the judge who scored it for Fury. I don't agree with the assesment Fury was gassed. I was amazed how quickly he got his legs back under him after that battering he took in the 9th. He was still moving well in the last couple. I think he was concussed though, his press conference was a ramble and I think he ended by saying 'happy new year to you all'.
Fury needs clarity in his corner. Steward's instructions were clear, work the body, work the body and work the body. When Fury was aggressive in doing that he was successful. All his best rounds came from his stepping in and he was nore than capable of landing, some of those uppercuts to the body hurt Usyk and he was staggered at least twice. Then you have the clown father going on about being 'fighting men's and telling him to hunt the head with the jab. For all he's 35 and 6'9" he's still clearly **** scared of his father. It was a confused performance. There was a strategy there that worked for Fury, broadly the same one that brought Joshua success against Usyk late on in their 2nd fight, but he was unwilling to keep implementing it because his dad said not to. He needs to send him packing.
Really good summary PB and 100% agree regarding Fury's corner. I think the 114-113 in favour of Usyk was how I had it. 2-2 after 4. Fury won the next 3 before the fight turned in the 8th and the knockdown in the 9th was what won it ultimately with both taking 6 rounds each
I had usyk by 3, purely because in the equal rounds, Usyk was busier and had the more accurate work. Plus some are debating whether the fight should’ve been stopped in the 9th which I can understand why but I’m glad it wasn’t.
Every time fury showboated it was because he had been caught.
Fury did well, don’t think he could do any better in a rematch.
I watched it last night on pretty low volume so I didn’t wake the kids. Just watched it again and more importantly with volume - John Fury - possibly the worst advice ever listening to him directly contradicting Andy Lee and Sugar Hill. Crazy to think that at the elite level that was happening.
Fury definitely hurt Usyk with body shots. I thought he had him, just briefly in the 6th round or thereabouts.
It was a close fight, very little between them over 12 rounds, but Usyk deserved the win, but no more than a couple of rounds in it as you say. I had Fury two rounds up before the 9th. His body shots were really sapping Usyk. Fury was ahead before the 9th, rounds 4-7 he dominated. The earlier rounds were close, probably too close to call.
Fury really needed to go for it last two, whether he had the strength to do so is debateable. I suspect it was all about survival as he was so close to being stopped in the 9th. Hopefully his daft auld man is nowhere near the corner in the rematch, he didn't help and shouldn't have been anywhere near enough to offer his advice.
It was a good fight, Usyk showed what a champion he is, he was relentless and packed a lot of power into his punches.
Will watch the fight again, it was an impressive contest.
I really enjoyed it, was a good fight, I had Usyk by one or two at the end but there were a few really close rounds that could have went either way, ref did Fury a huge favour in the 9th though, the ropes kept him up about 3 or 4 times before he finally called the knock down, I actually thought he could have stopped the fight there and then but Fury did well to recover.
I know he has an exemplary amatuer resume but Uysks list of oppents and always fighting on the road is insane for 22 fights, nice to have a really likable heavyweight champion again, he's some guy
Watched a bit of the press conference today for Taylor Catterall rematch
Both absolutely pumped. Josh doesn't look as drained or gaunt this time. We'll see what he's like when he steps on the scales tomorrow though
I hope josh wipes the floor with him
Me too. I was sat next to Catterall's family at the last fight and after the comments they had been shouting before and during the fight I took great delight in their reaction to the decision.
However.....I'm seeing Catterall getting this on points. I really hope I'm wrong.
Hoping for a return to form for the Tartan Tornado, having some miles in the legs and vision fixed will definitely help
Catterall landed more punches than Taylor in 11 of the 12 rounds in the first fight (120/525 v 73/306) he knows, like most, that he won that fight and that'll be his extra motivation to win it this time around, imo :agree:
but mon Josh, batter him :)
Just watched the press conference, don't think 140 will serve him well, does not look great at all where as Catterall looks relatively fresh faced, still hopeful Josh does the business.
Josh looked good at the weigh in, didnt look as drained as the last fight if anything Catterall looked the more drained off the two, interesting.
A Josh Taylor with a good camp behind him is something we’ve not seen since he beat Ramirez. If he can walk Jack onto a shot like the first knockdown from that fight Jack won’t beat the count
I thought Taylor looked good too. Last 2 or 3 fights he has looked so pale and ill at the weigh in but today he looked a lot fuller faced and happier.
Catterall on the other was throwing out a few red flags. He looked gaunt and whilst it's not uncommon for fighters to immediately begin rehydrating after weighing in the way he was guzzling from that bottle of juice he was handed suggests he was pretty seriously dehydrated. His movements when he didn't know the cameras were on him were also interesting; full of nervous energy, lots of twitching, rubbing his face and nodding of the head. A contrast to how cocky he looked on the scales.
The rumour mill suggests JT has been a bit more willing to 'live the life' this time around after perhaps not being totally professional between fights in the recent past. If he's back to anywhere close to his best then he wins imo. Catterall hasn't done a huge amount since the first fight, a laboured points victory over a shot Linares and a points victory over a never gonna be in Darragh Foley. Whilst Taylor hardly set the heather on fire in losing to Lopez he has operated at a far higher level throughout his career. Of course if Taylor isn't at it then Catterall is good enough to exploit that.
Night and day from the last fight. I remember having a sharp intake of breath when Taylor walked in to the ring last time round, he looked dreadful.
Catterall looked nervous during the face off there, Taylor looked supremely confident. I’m absolutely buzzing. We’re up in the Gods this time around but the atmosphere is going to be something else.
When and what time the Taylor fight?
Intrigued by the Okolie fight tonight - new weight category.
only just noticed Wilder v Zhang are on the undercard of the Dimitry Bivol vs Malik Zinad WBA light heavyweight title main event next week in saudi
Daniel Dubois vs Filip Hrgovic as well
Final undercarriage fight on now. Imagine ring walks circa 2230
Intrigued by the main event, honestly no idea how it's going to go. For me it all depends on Josh, if he's anywhere near his best he will have more than enough to win. If he's struggling at the weight and can't find his legs in the fight Catterall will win on points.
Buzzing for this tonight. Hostile arena & crowd against Josh. He’ll do this tonight, come on Josh
There's something about Jack Catterall, a face you'd love to slap.
Has JT given up all his belts?
A proper boxing atmosphere. None of this Saudi community centre nonsense
He looks rough as tatties
Just from the ring walks, I fancy caterall unfortunately.
JT is a good Hibs *unt and I hope he does it though!
Taylor looks absolutely buzzing
R1 to Jack
Tough round to score the 2nd. Josh on front foot but Jack getting cleaner shots off
2 1 Taylor but close 2nd
Nothing in the first 2 for me, 3rd was Josh's
Catterall. 3-1.
How biased are the commentators? All for catterall
4-1. Only one winner at this rate. Needs to start throwing meaningful punches. Getting completely outboxed.
Josh will needs to change track or he's done Catterall doing very well
Strong round for Catterall
3-2 England, Catterril probably taking a KO here
DAZN commentators are honking. Caterall looks so much bigger and stronger .
Tough to watch
