I don't think we'll see Fury fight again. He likes to let himself go between fight so there's no way he'll be ready to go in October. He'd need to be back in camp by the summer and I just don't see that happening.
Usyk won't continue on if it's not for the rematch and I don't think he'll wait for Fury. There's nobody else for him to fight, I can't see him having much interest in fighting AJ for a 3rd time.
Fury AJ is possible but I think Fury knows deep down he's not the same fighter and there's a real possibility he could get sparked out. He's driven by ego and he can claim that he was cheated by the Judges against Usyk and he's never truly been beat, despite the fact he was clearly beaten IMO.
Saying all that, I have a feeling the version of Fury from Wilder 2 or the Kiltscho fight may well have beaten Usyk.

Fury will fight in October he's had massive weight-loss in the last 6 months which drains you, as he wasn't bothered about Ngannou stupidly. He kept trim and came back much stronger for wilder. I'd probably favour him for the rematch but it's heavyweight boxing so one punch can change everything.
He reportedly got £90 million last night which is also an incentive whilst obscene.
Really good fight that deserves a rematch

On Wilder, Fury was heavier in both the Wilder 2 and 3 fights. Those fights were 3 and 4 years ago now though and he doesn't live the life outside of camps.
If they do fight again, and I would say that's unlikely, Usyk will stop him IMO (which he arguably should have done last night in the 9th).

They will definitely fight again. What fury needs to do but won't is get rid of his dad. Sugar was telling him to punch more but before 11 John said your well ahead on the scores, Tyson sat back in both the last 2, bizarre. I'm not sure how anyone would be confident either way on the rematch. What is certain is they both deserve it as it was a great fight and both fighters showed unbelievable heart.

We'll have to see on the rematch but as I've said IMO we'll never see Fury in a ring again.

Obviously he might not have had any luck if he did attack as Usyk was the more clinical

I think the fight was closer than many are saying. Usyk won the first 2 rounds but I think Fury won the next 4 clearly and was up at that point. 7 and 8 were close before 9 was the big round for Usyk, 10 was Usyk and I thought 11 and 12 were both close, Fury wobbled Usyk in 12 so I'd give him that. I thought a couple of round for Usyk was about right, I've seen some claiming it was a 9 or 10 round win for him which is almost as bonkers as the judge who scored it for Fury. I don't agree with the assesment Fury was gassed. I was amazed how quickly he got his legs back under him after that battering he took in the 9th. He was still moving well in the last couple. I think he was concussed though, his press conference was a ramble and I think he ended by saying 'happy new year to you all'.
Fury needs clarity in his corner. Steward's instructions were clear, work the body, work the body and work the body. When Fury was aggressive in doing that he was successful. All his best rounds came from his stepping in and he was nore than capable of landing, some of those uppercuts to the body hurt Usyk and he was staggered at least twice. Then you have the clown father going on about being 'fighting men's and telling him to hunt the head with the jab. For all he's 35 and 6'9" he's still clearly **** scared of his father. It was a confused performance. There was a strategy there that worked for Fury, broadly the same one that brought Joshua success against Usyk late on in their 2nd fight, but he was unwilling to keep implementing it because his dad said not to. He needs to send him packing.Last edited by Pretty Boy; 19-05-2024 at 09:29 AM.

I had usyk by 3, purely because in the equal rounds, Usyk was busier and had the more accurate work. Plus some are debating whether the fight should’ve been stopped in the 9th which I can understand why but I’m glad it wasn’t.
Every time fury showboated it was because he had been caught.
Fury did well, don’t think he could do any better in a rematch.

I watched it last night on pretty low volume so I didn’t wake the kids. Just watched it again and more importantly with volume - John Fury - possibly the worst advice ever listening to him directly contradicting Andy Lee and Sugar Hill. Crazy to think that at the elite level that was happening.

It was a close fight, very little between them over 12 rounds, but Usyk deserved the win, but no more than a couple of rounds in it as you say. I had Fury two rounds up before the 9th. His body shots were really sapping Usyk. Fury was ahead before the 9th, rounds 4-7 he dominated. The earlier rounds were close, probably too close to call.
Fury really needed to go for it last two, whether he had the strength to do so is debateable. I suspect it was all about survival as he was so close to being stopped in the 9th. Hopefully his daft auld man is nowhere near the corner in the rematch, he didn't help and shouldn't have been anywhere near enough to offer his advice.
It was a good fight, Usyk showed what a champion he is, he was relentless and packed a lot of power into his punches.
Will watch the fight again, it was an impressive contest.

I really enjoyed it, was a good fight, I had Usyk by one or two at the end but there were a few really close rounds that could have went either way, ref did Fury a huge favour in the 9th though, the ropes kept him up about 3 or 4 times before he finally called the knock down, I actually thought he could have stopped the fight there and then but Fury did well to recover.
I know he has an exemplary amatuer resume but Uysks list of oppents and always fighting on the road is insane for 22 fights, nice to have a really likable heavyweight champion again, he's some guy

Watched a bit of the press conference today for Taylor Catterall rematch
Both absolutely pumped. Josh doesn't look as drained or gaunt this time. We'll see what he's like when he steps on the scales tomorrow though
I hope josh wipes the floor with him

Hoping for a return to form for the Tartan Tornado, having some miles in the legs and vision fixed will definitely help

Catterall landed more punches than Taylor in 11 of the 12 rounds in the first fight (120/525 v 73/306) he knows, like most, that he won that fight and that'll be his extra motivation to win it this time around, imo
but mon Josh, batter him :)

Just watched the press conference, don't think 140 will serve him well, does not look great at all where as Catterall looks relatively fresh faced, still hopeful Josh does the business.

Josh looked good at the weigh in, didnt look as drained as the last fight if anything Catterall looked the more drained off the two, interesting.

A Josh Taylor with a good camp behind him is something we’ve not seen since he beat Ramirez. If he can walk Jack onto a shot like the first knockdown from that fight Jack won’t beat the count

Catterall on the other was throwing out a few red flags. He looked gaunt and whilst it's not uncommon for fighters to immediately begin rehydrating after weighing in the way he was guzzling from that bottle of juice he was handed suggests he was pretty seriously dehydrated. His movements when he didn't know the cameras were on him were also interesting; full of nervous energy, lots of twitching, rubbing his face and nodding of the head. A contrast to how cocky he looked on the scales.
The rumour mill suggests JT has been a bit more willing to 'live the life' this time around after perhaps not being totally professional between fights in the recent past. If he's back to anywhere close to his best then he wins imo. Catterall hasn't done a huge amount since the first fight, a laboured points victory over a shot Linares and a points victory over a never gonna be in Darragh Foley. Whilst Taylor hardly set the heather on fire in losing to Lopez he has operated at a far higher level throughout his career. Of course if Taylor isn't at it then Catterall is good enough to exploit that.PM Awards General Poster of The Year 2015, 2016, 2017. Probably robbed in other years

Catterall looked nervous during the face off there, Taylor looked supremely confident. I’m absolutely buzzing. We’re up in the Gods this time around but the atmosphere is going to be something else.Every gimmick hungry yob,
