Junior Hoilett won an international reprieve with Canada – and scored on his return against Suriname.
The Hibs star had missed his country’s last nine games after missing out on the Copa America squad and then failing to be called up for the three friendlies since.
But his individual form at Easter Road has been fairly good, even if the same can’t be said for the team.
And that saw Hoilett called up for the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-final against the Surinamese, who proved to be plucky opponents.
But the Hibees star popped up with a first leg winner after climbing off the bench for the final 12 minutes.
He is a very well respected member of the Canada squad and manager Jesse Marsch has been delighted that he instantly brought his personality back to the place after being away for so long.
