Why take off Che Adams?
Nuts!
I'd personally say Scotland are out now.
That'll be that, then. Oot.
It's just been reality check after reality check since we got all excited after the Serbia play off. Beginning to think the Euros might not be much fun.
Clarke as a person is so depressing.
Clarke’s team are depressing to watch
They'll never fire him after his 'success' in getting us to the Euros, but I'd see Clarke leave tomorrow. Let him take the Celtc job - his negative, dour 'poor us' attitude will fit in perfectly there.
What’s clear is that Scotland are few players short of a decent side. Unfortunately McGregor and Christie were out of sorts tonight. SJM probably had his worst game in a Scotland shirt. Going to difficult to get to the play offs now never mind win the group now
Not even close to being out of the running.....jeez
A team 40 places below us should have won by two or three, says it all really....
Never say never but now remaining results against Israel Moldova and Faroe all have to be wins. Then its down to results against Denmark home and away and a result in Austria. Very tough.
Clarke's team doesn't really inspire confidence, not once did i think "we could win this".
I don’t see how qualification is over already.
It’s entirely possible Israel could take points off Austria at some point and we were always going to have to get something in Austria.
That said I found that very frustrating tonight. Why we took off Adams I’ll never know, to me it looks like we just played for a draw.
That game was never one for Lyndon Dykes, their central defenders were slow and were terrified of Adams running at them, replacing him with someone who can’t run didn’t make any sense IMO.
Dreadful tactics and set up by the manager. Not quite sure what we were trying to do tonight. Israel are no better than functional and not a team you should be drawing with. 2 points dropped.
Used up all our luck in the Euro qualifiers. Still got time though and 5 or 6 goals on Wednesday would be a good confidence booster although I just can't see it.
No idea why Adams's and Fraser were taken off. Why not chuck Dykes and Adams on at the same time. Seem happy to stay in shape and not press giving initiative to the other team
Usually I'm optimistic and would say plenty football left - not with this manager I'm afraid. Too defensive, strange formations, equally negative and baffling changes during games. Uninspiring, boring football too many times under Clarke.
It's quite strange, but I can never lift myself or get excited about the national team any more. Just can't take to Clarke either, think it's his demeanour and lack of personality.
Anyway, hope Nisbet at least gets a chance v The Faroes. That'll have me more keen to watch.
Calum mcgregor, Christie, O’Donnell, Hanley, awful. All four shouldn’t be anywhere near the current team.
I would be dropping Robertson on Wednesday and putting Tierney at left-back.
It’s not over but a difficult task just got a whole lot harder.
His subs are baffling at times.
Che Adam's was excellent and should never of been taken off especially for Dykes.
Kenny McLean on for McGinn in the number 10 role. Seriously get a grip
Two ok points in isolation. However a minimum of 4 was probably needed if we’re to finish second. We’ve not got much wriggle room left.
I'm optimistic. You've gotta be!!
Exactly, people saying “it’s not over till the fat lady sings”, yes but, we have made it near on impossible. 6 points (9 with Faroes) and we have some wriggle room. We would still have to get a result in Copenhagen or Vienna, but there’s some contingency.
Now we HAVE to get results in Copenhagen, Vienna and Hampden v Denmark. Oh and we have the perineal thorn in our sides of Israel at home, never guaranteed 3.
I’m afraid to say it’s game over. I’ve seen it too many times following Scotland.

Stuart Armstrong should always be in the side for me - a wonderful player, very good on the ball, can beat a man and find space, links up well with strikers.
Callum McGregor has been awful for Celtic and does not deserve a start quite frankly. Christie should always be ahead of him too.
At one stage we had 5 men back in a line and 2 others back pedalling to join them and they still had 2 unmarked players in our box and 2 bringing the ball up under no pressure.I’m afraid in that set up we are the dustbins.
The group is over for us now...we have to get four wins...Denmark home and away, Austria away and Israel at home...just not happening...enjoy the EUROS because it will be a long time before we are at another tournament!
The fact of the matter is in international football there is very little room for losses or draws if you want to even qualify via a runner up route. We've now went out and got 2 draws in our opening games agains two sides we'll be competing against for that spot. So while we haven't necessarily lost any ground it's not a great start either. It leaves us with no room for slip ups versus Faroes/Moldova and we're going to have to look at taking 3 or 4 points of Denmark at some point while taking maximum points from Israel and Austria second time round.
If we play as a 5 then nothing would change though. The system was clearly set up as a 5 and a 4 within 25 yards of our box. Second half Robertson was far higher, and we got in behind a few times.
Personally think we are far better Tierney/Robertson than we would be McKenna/Tierney. Only time that would change is if Cooper was available.
We're now in a position where we have to beat Denmark at least once and win in Austria.
Tierney and Christie on the left, O'Donnell and Fraser on the right, McGinn and McTominay sitting/pressing, Armstrong in a 10. That would be my midfield and full backs. Robertson on the bench. Centre pairing of McKenna and (sadly) Hanley because we are so bereft of decent players in there.
Adams or Dykes up top.
Callum McGregor was like a man short, should be nowhere near this Scotland side
Steve Clarke more focused on how good Israel were than how poor we were first half.
At times the players need to hear that sometimes it isn’t good enough.
Drawing against the 4th seeds in the group is nothing to try and paper the cracks with.
It was always a tough group from that point of view. Folk didn't see a Germany/Spain/Italy and thought it would be easier but all the teams taking points off each other is problematic too.
Still though, win on Wed and we could be 2nd so still in our hands so to speak.
There’s absolutely no defence for having a period of play where 11 players are within 25 yards of your own goal, and regularly defending with 5 on the edge of the box, and 4 a matter of yards in front, with Adams chasing shadows. That’s inexcusable and nothing to do with who we were playing.
I’d rather Denmark never won. Scotland need to go on a run of wins, if we do that then I want Denmark not to get too far in front, if we don’t go on a run of wins then we’d be out anyway. Having the chance to go above them in Denmark in September would be something else.
Unless there is a Hibs connection I really struggle to be excited by a Scotland games these days, happy to see them do well but not that particularly bothered if they don’t.
It's of course possible AH, but this side won't beat Austria away and definitely won't beat Denmark home or away - I just don't rate Clarke as highly as the media or others, and we play negative football under him. I honestly fear the Euros will be embarrassing up against top quality opposition. The football is dour, much like the manager.
As I said, I'm maybe in a national football 'malaise', I just don't get up for national games any more bud. There are no mavericks in the side, nobody who really can win a game on their own. You need a couple of players to add real spark, we don't have any.
We can definitely qualify. Home and away mean nothing for heavens sake!
Can't believe the negative thinking on here.
We do have a good side but we always find a way of screwing things up. Sure in recent times we have a fantastic qualifying record but find it difficult to get together a winning sequence in finals especially in knock out stages. Did well in Russia, much better than expected and have some fantastic youngsters coming through. Have a chance in the Euros and should progress through the group with all matches at Wembley. Next two matches will be away from London though and thats where the plan could fall to pieces and Scots fans will get their joy despite your first round exit :greengrin
Seriously though looking forward to the Euros, hopefully with some fans in the stadiums and this England fan, probably untypical of my fellow countryman, is glad to see Scotland there.
Thing is, if we are 'out' after 2 games with 2 points, then israel must be out, Faroes and Moldova must be out and that leaves 2 teams, both who have played the bottom two seeds?? I think there is a lot still to play for. Wasnt that long ago where i was reading we would get thumped by Serbia.......
I might be in the optimistic camp here but I think we’ll still qualify if we beat faroes. Well get a confidence boost from being at the euros and we’ve yet to play the 2 lowest ranked teams unlike austra and Denmark who have played one of each. We won’t be the only nation to drop points to Israel
I think goal difference could always be a decider in the end given how arguably even the top 3/4 could turn out to be. Hope to see a few goals in the Faroe and Moldova games but watch us try and out 352 both them anaw.

Bookies now have them joint favs with France, they were leading the market a few days ago (obviously with so many home games being to their advantage).
I disagree though - I think their best chance of winning something, in my time, was when Rooney burst onto the scene and was playing with lampard and (that pr1ck) Gerrard in their prime.
Of course it doesn’t mean they can’t win the tournament, but I’ve always believed there’s at least 2 or 3 teams better than England at every tournament.. and this year is the same.
My money will side with Belgium. France obviously are contenders again... and Ronaldo might like his chances with the likes of Jota and Bruno Fernandez in support now as well. And it seems you can never write off Germans and Italians as well!
I’m getting excited just thinking about it, and that’s before getting to the fact we are there this time!!! Hopefully crowds and beer gardens are back in our lives when it comes round.
