Its a myth....an excuse to tax people.
I did not know this.
Matty, I have always been interested in the origins of the Third Punic War. I also sometimes struggle with grasping Stephen Hawking’s ‘rubber sheet’ theory of the universe. Insights would be welcome. Please note the subtle colander thread in-joke.
I am also keen to know who won the Male Olympic Gold in the shot putt at the 1964 games but can’t be arsed going onto Wikipedia. I pay my PM subs and I don’t think I am being unreasonable.
If you would do any objective research in this you would know that many studies have shown that not to be true...
A) climate change acceleration is not due to cycles of planetary activity. For example: the solar energy absorbed by the Earth has been relatively unchanged for 150 million years
B) the acceleration of carbon dioxide in our soil has increased exponentially since the Industrial Age.... by over 70 times, compared with that of the natural effects of the sun (for example)
I’m guessing you’ve already made up your mind on it though ....
seriously though guys I'm just not buying this global warming stuff at all. I think we have more to worry about with the cloud seeding projects that are going on
I would have thought that sheep fleece didn’t lend itself to sponging. You probably want a carpet sweeper but then you face issues in that you can’t restrain the sheep, given the long handle.
Probably need a second person which makes it into something far more resource-intensive.
:greengrin
Is this a spoof site then? https://www.thatsfarming.com/news/july16-sheep-guide
I've never really believed in oxygen. It's always seemed to me to be a government ruse to get people to open windows, go outside, that kind of thing. Notably in history both having windows and going out to work has resulted in taxation, which I think tells its own story.
I just want to say grunt is a great guy, a really great guy. I have known him a long time. Great guy. I don’t actually know him. People tell me things, lots of things. Good things. Beautiful things.
Despite Sleepy Joe we are going to build a beautiful wall in Colorado. That’s what people tell me. I’ve built things, great things.
We are making deals, interesting deals, beautiful deals. I make great deals. That’s what people tell me. I don’t know but I guess it’s true. That’s what people say.
When you say sing to the original, what style do you mean?
I have tried country, rare dub, Motownish and eighties classic hip-hop.
I ruled out the original style and am considering free-form jazz with a bit of skat but because I am in the garden I am sensing the neighbours starting to be restless.
Lennon has a lot of achievements to his name but he clearly never ‘imagined’ how to recreate his song in a different style in a Jedburgh garden!
Helpful. I think I need to find some elfin girl with a gentle and earnest voice.
If I can factor in a Christmas angle and pitch it to John Lewis or preferably Marks, then I am quids in.
If that happens I will definitely pick up the shirt sponsorship for whoever comes after Jack Ross and John Potter on the coaching bench. We are all Hibs.
His latest interview.......
https://twitter.com/axios/status/129...489348096?s=19
Loathe as I am to bring this thread back to Trump, I've just watched some of his interview with Jonathan Swan, which was broadcast on HBO last night. The man is beyond parody.
The bit about Coronavirus in the US is startling; he brings out paper charts to show Swan and persuade him on his argument. Basically, his argument is that the relevant figure is "deaths per number of confirmed cases" rather than "deaths per head of population". He then refers to not getting enough credit for the US doing more testing than any other country. He's so out of his depth that he'd almost engender sympathy if the situation wasn't so serious and he wasn't such a ****.
I understand why people would be suspicious that Trump may try to hold onto power if he loses the election, but the man I see is simply not capable of doing so.
Bonkers.
Jonathan Swan seems to get away with more piercing questions than other interviewers. Despite the hostile tone Trump seems to kinda like him. Great guy, doing a fantastic job. But Its still FAKE NEWS people!! Particularly women or non white press people tend to get shouted down for asking similar questions. You have to wonder why Trump agrees to be interviewed by him when he is so clearly intellectually inferior.
Obviously # of deaths per head of population is a different and more meaningful statistic than # of deaths per cases when forming a view on how effective any countrys response to CV is. But do Trump voters appreciate that? Do they even care? Does Trump realise what he’s saying doesn’t really stand up but is just ploughing through anyway, either lost in a narcissistic dream state or just hoping his core support don’t notice or don’t care?
Trump is, in every possible way you can think of, an idiot.
That he's somehow been bankrolled into the position he is, makes him nothing more than a useful idiot for those that placed him there.
It's almost unthinkable that someone that stupid, that ignorant, and that much of an idiot, could wind up as President of the USA, but here we are.
I don't have sympathy for him, he's a racist, a misogynist, a bully, and a liar (on top of being an idiot).
He doesn't appear to have a shred of decency about him, either. Just bluster and aggression.
If you watch the whole interview - you actually cringe all the way through. Trump is totally delusional.
It's the fact that he also argues that the US case numbers are artificially high due to the amount of testing they do IN THE SAME INTERVIEW as praising himself for low deaths per case rates. Can you imagine being the poor sod trying to explain that one is an outcome of the other??? There isn't a box of crayons big enough.
:agree:
Whilst I’m not saying he was a good president I remember saying when he got elected that the doomsday scenarios predicted by all wouldn’t come to fruition - or at least to the extent others thought it would. I reckoned he’d get 4, possibly even 8 years and they’d be fairly non eventful (as much as a presidential campaign can be anyway) and that would be it. If COVID hadn’t come round I do think that would probably have been how it would have went.
The way he’s dealt with COVID though has made others predictions look mild. Guys ****ing nuts.
For a minute I genuinely thought it was a comedy sketch. It's unbelievable and would be funny if his idiocy wasn't costing thousands of lives.
It's like Spinal Tap Trump:
Interviewer: All the statistics point to more cases and more deaths.
Trump: But this graph goes to eleven.
Interviewer: The graph shows a spike in cases.
Trump:........(long pause).....It goes to eleven.

Trump doing the interview with himself. it almost makes more sense.
Man's insane
How anyone can vote for him a 2nd time defies logic

Obviously his performance in these interviews is appalling, but I have to say, something deep inside of me actually respects him for facing up to some sort of scrutiny for a change.
It’s not like him.
Biden is obviously listening to his advisers to keep a very low profile. He needs to get through the three debates, have no hiccups in naming his VP this week and the job is his. And only give the bare minimum of interviews and speeches.

I’m coming from a point where I think he has absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever, and it’s a pretty low bar when you start to think that the man in charge of the world’s biggest democracy deserves credit just for taking part and performing very badly in a moderately challenging interview.
Looks like Trump has been banned from Twitter, had a post deleted by Facebook and Deutsche bank has handed over all his financial records to the SDNY. He’ll be going nuts.[emoji23]

It’s was trumps campaign twitter account that was frozen for fake Covid claims.
Interestingly it wasn’t frozen or called out for posting clearly doctored photos of Biden. Claiming he was alone and diminished in his basement they heavily edited photos of him at a football watching party, outdoors at a rally and even him praying in church...all (rather poorly) edited to try and show him pale and frail and alone in his basement.
Talk about Fake News!!
Seen this one?
A lunatic!

I have subscribed to WH news (White House news) on Facebook. It’s good, I get propaganda updates from the Trump camp. Sometimes it’s quite persuasive, other times less so. But you can see how people can fall for his schtick. Good to get out of the liberal antifa echo chamber for a while :agree:
Love the fact that a black female democrat is trying to bring down the NRA 🙏

In an attempt to appeal to the right-wing-evangelical-nut-jobs, Trump has attacked Biden's religious credentials.
“He’s following the radical-left agenda: take away your guns, destroy your Second Amendment, no religion, no anything, hurt the Bible, hurt God,” .... “He’s against God.”
Huffington Post
This from a man that couldn't quite one single line from the bible during an interview.
Just as the thread slips down the board, he comes up with this cracker.....

It’s actually not such a ridiculous concept, although clearly all the authorities had to do was ask Hearts as they had already won the war by then so clearly would have had no problem in winning it again.
But to the general concept Trump is alluding to its known the First World War pretty much exhausted all sides in terms of man power, such was the carnage and death rate. And the Spanish flu was indeed rampant in the barracks where they were based and was a huge killer of men. Then there is the strong evidence that the second wave of the flu was the result of the troops returning home and spreading it like wildfire.
Clearly ol’ Trump has got his wars mixed up but there is also some suggestion that the Spanish flu likely killed more US troops in WWI than enemy action.
So on this one I kind of see his point. <did I actually just say that! [emoji2957][emoji23]>
What also must be remembered about the Spanish flu though is that medicine at that time actually didn’t know what a virus was so it’s rather hard to piece it all together in terms of what actually happened.
It completely blows my mind that he is the president of the United States. If you told me he was the president of a local bowling club I would be amazed.
