Looking at the sums spent by people who have dropped out it's absolutely mental the money spent by people who, if they were being honest with themselves, had absolutely no chance of winning.

Not sure why but what the timetable does give is plenty chance to really test a candidate under pressure. Allows them to narrow the field gradually so that your are left with the most popular candidate. Had it all been on one day then sanders would have won as the only far left candidate. They take the credit for saving the economy, as they are in power, and then have credibility for making things right and off-setting the massive, additional spend - which means an ideological axe to the public sector.
I loved the genre of films in the 70s that were very dystopian. I fear that we might be at risk of realising it. I suspect that common sense and pragmatism will prevail. And if they don’t then we are truly ****ed :greengrin

Andrew Cuomo, current governor of New York State, is getting a ton of good press for how he is dealing with corona virus in NYC, where it seems to be exacerbated in terms of numbers and deaths
There was always talk about a Cuomo run for the presidency, it used to be Mario, but Andrew is now being talked up. A lot will depend on how the virus plays out, but if it settles I wouldn’t rule out a vote from the floor at the party convention, drumming up support for Andrew. He wasn’t in at the start so he would have to be a floor vote.
Admittedly I am not up on rules for how the Democratic Party nominates candidates but from memory, there is the usual primary process, but still the opportunity to nominate and vote from the floor at the time of the Convention. I know a couple of folk who post on here have actually been involved in the work around campaigning during the Democratic primaries and then the actual election. Any insight would be welcome.
