See where you're coming from, a little tetchy too. For balance though we have brought in Manneh, McGrath and Sallinger with the prospect of a fully fit Newell and possibly fit and motivated Youan to add to the team that finished last year. Youan situation is anyone's guess though. Malotnikov could step up this year too.
Ideally re-sign Rocky, Hoilett and Triantis then 2 strikers and we're done. I don't think Hoilett needs replaced if he doesn't sign, Rocky and Triantis would both need replaced which will be a tough ask. 4 or 5 players all in. Good that it isn't major surgery
At the moment I'd say we are substantially weaker than when we finished the season. We have work to do - quickly - just to stand still. Then we have more work to do to actually improve the squad on last season and to meet the demands and impact of Europe, particularly if we were to somehow make group stages. I don't think our financial position is making this any easier a task. We had a bloated squad and they wanted/needed to thin it substantially, it may take a while before we escape the impacts of the tail of that process.
i think the easiest thing is to agree that you both have different opinions of Montgomery. It’s fine to have different opinions.. you are also both Hibbys.. love football and hate the Rangers. You have more in common than you have different. Peace brothers :agree:
We're definitely weaker than when we finished the season but that's purely because two of our best players from last season aren't at the club anymore. But as someone else said that level of where we're at compared to other years is quite a bit ahead of previous windows. We know what we have to do and the window is long.
Also in regards to the the European demands, I would rather we didn't rush anyone in the door that wasn't right just so they were here for the first two games that will be a huge ask to overcome anyway. We have to live with them as signings for the whole season or beyond and rushing for the sake of what could be just 4 matches could be a mistake imo.
No reason to panic, work to be done for sure but we all knew that.
Hearts after Nisbet
Would take him back in a heart beat. Cant see us having 3 strikers of Bowie, Nisbet and Boyle though
Non-Hibs but Liverpool have signed Kerkez from Bournemouth. Nothing lasts forever of course but it's a little sad to see Andy Robertson getting pushed out the door at Anfield. I imagine this will be his last season (if he is even still at Liverpool at the end of the transfer window)
Question is would Gray? Have my doubts he would tbh . Dundee Utd linked with a midfielder…

Wonder if Rocky is getting strung along by a couple of teams hence him not making a decision about if he’ll stay or not
Some teams seem to be signing players left, right and centre.
I know the club always talk about quality over quantity and getting the right ones and whatever. And a lot of the time I think it is just that, talk. But this year it really is the case for us IMO.
Rocky and Triantis’ positions need sorted sooner rather than later. But I don’t feel, for a change, we need to be doing anything daft.
Are we all forgetting Mane came in in January and didn’t really feature? He’ll be like a new signing and could fill the Triantis hole.
By all accounts he was getting up to speed with the pace of our game but I liked the look of him vs rangers
Triantis is one of the few cases where - if you were the club officials at Hibs - you'd be saying:
"What's the best thing for you as a player
- in a World Cup year you need to be playing and we'll give you that
- your team mates include your international team mates so you know you'll be noticed if you're playing well
- while Sunderland might not play you this year (putting the World Cup off the table) the % says they'll be relegated and might need you/want you in the following season (26/27)
- so how about either (i) Hibs buy you for £1.X million OR (ii) we loan you for a season, to put you in the World Cup spotlight, for the vital year 25/26, and we all get back round the table in May 2026 to see how Sunderland have done, if they want to sell or keep you then.
Would work for Hibs, Sunderland and (if he's up for it) it works for Triantis - he has the certainty of knowing where he'll be playing this season and that his international boss will be getting reports
