That's exactly how I feel it panned out last season. He wasn't in the team and we started to dominate games especially in the midfield the more we got into the unbeaten run. To be club captain at hibs would make him one of the higher earners, and I feel there are players out there who would be better value for money on his wages than he is. For what little we seen of him last season I would say he struggles to make even the top 10 of highest performers last season.
Just my opinion. I appreciate all he contributes off the pitch and has done for the club. Realistically in order to progress we need to be attracting players of similar level to what the likes of Triantis, McGinn, McGeouch, Thomson, Zemmama, Brown and Beuzelin brought to hibs. Joe Newell has never been that level, regardless of what his union members on here say.
