I hope for the laddie the years extension comes with a small bump up in salary. Just enough to keep him hungry to earn an extended deal.
I was hoping the delay in announcing was due to them agreeing a longer term deal. The fact it is just the year option perhaps suggests we couldn't reach agreement on a longer deal and activating the option means we will get some cash if he leaves. Obviously.. perhaps not. Glad he's at least tied on another year contract and maybe buys us time to get a longer deal agreed. Think he is a big asset.Quote:

He signed the contract with the option of an extension as part of the terms. Moving abroad to a different country, if he proves himself he has another year in the Scottish shop window. Maybe miller does want to leave, hibs have said we’re taking up our right for the years option as we want some money back rather than lose you for nowt.
As someone said miller signed his initial contract knowing Hibs had this available to them.
Think miller looks really good at RCB and already prefer him over O’Hora in there personally.
I don't think the year's option is particularly uncommon in contracts, it offers the club some protection against a player leaving for nothing save for the player, the extra year is unlikely to be prohibitive if a more attractive club wants to sign them - a bigger club than Hibs is more likely to be able to afford the fee so it won't be a deal breaker.

The SPFL has today announced some key dates for next season, with the calendar for 2025/26 along similar lines to the current campaign.
The William Hill Premiership, William Hill Championship, William Hill League 1 and William Hill League 2 will all kick off on the weekend of August 1-3.
The William Hill Premiership will conclude on the weekend of May 16/17, while clubs in the Championship, League 1 and League 2 will finish their regular seasons on the first weekend in May, before the play-offs get under way.
The second season of the expanded UEFA club competitions – the league phase of the Champions League and Europa League again runs until the end of January – exerts additional pressure on the domestic calendar. As was the case for 2024/25, there will be no scheduled William Hill Premiership winter break in season 2025/26.
The group stage of the Premier Sports Cup will start on the weekend of July 12/13, with the final scheduled for Sunday December 14. To enable the tournament to be completed before Christmas, the quarter-finals will, as in the current season, be played on a weekend due to the lack of a midweek slot.
SPFL Chief Operating Officer Calum Beattie said: “We are only just into the second half of the season across the four divisions and there is so much to look forward to in the remaining months of season 2024/25.
“However, we are well aware that clubs and supporters need to plan ahead. We are therefore pleased to be able to confirm start and end dates for season 2025/26, as well as the full schedule for the Premier Sports Cup.
