Back where we
belong
After 10 long months of suffering on
our great adventure into the 1ST Division the boys are back where they belong
in the Premier league, and hopefully over the first major hurdle to making Hibernian FC a
real force in Scottish football once again. Whilst this season will undoubtedly go down as
a black period in the history books of the club, the manner in which we have bounced back
is a real credit to the players, the manager, the Board and of course the supporters.
Lets hope that we have learnt some harsh lessons over the last 2 years and that we
never find ourselves in this situation again.
March Meeting
A fairly healthy attendance at the
March gathering with 16 members coming along to talk all night about the Cabbage.
Apologies were received from David Smith, Stuart Donald, Grant Ramsay and John Smith who
for various reasons were unable to attend.
Group Travel to Edinburgh
You are reminded
that the club has organised a trip to Edinburgh for the penultimate home game against
Morton on Saturday 24th April. To date we have 15 members confirmed on the
trip, which is being co-ordinated, by Alex Lindsay and Tony Connor but if you are thinking
about going up and would like further information on the arrangements, then you should
contact Alex or Tony
For those members travelling up for
the game please be aware that you are invited to the Almond Suite Player of the Year
Presentation, which will take place in the evening at Easter Road starting at 7.30pm.
Tickets will cost 10 each and there will be a whole host of current Hibs players and ex
Hibs legends to mingle with. If you would like a ticket for this function then can you
please let me know by Friday 16th April at the latest as I will be
speaking with the guys who are organising the evening..
Annual
General Meeting
I appreciate that it
is still a couple of months away, but can you please note that the clubs AGM will
take place in the Holyrood on Saturday 19 June starting at 4pm. As the AGM
is the only meeting in the season we hold on a Saturday, it is a great opportunity for
those of you who are normally unable to attend the midweek get-togethers to come along and
meet other members.
One of the main
items on the agenda at our AGMs is to confirm committee members for the new season, so if
you are interested in putting your name forward for one of the posts, or if you would like
to nominate someone else, then can you please let me know in advance of the AGM.
I am fairly
confident that the current committee is more than happy to continue with their
responsibilities into the new season, but as most of us have been in the roles for a few
years, we would actively encourage new faces onto the committee, so dont feel that
you will be upsetting anyone by volunteering your services. Over the last 12 months we
have had around 18 new members join our ranks so maybe one of the new guys feel that they
could add a little something to the success of the club.
As an extra
incentive to come along to the meeting we are hoping to have a video of some old Hibs
footage from the 50s, 60s and 70s, which was shown recently at a charity function at
Easter Road.
The current
committee is as follows:
Chairman: Brian Rogan
Deputy Chairman:
Stuart Donald
Club Secretary: Mike
McSherry
Club Treasurer:
Andrew Murray
Fanzine: Mike
McSherry
APFSCIL: Grant Ramsay
Hibs Liaison: Tony
Connor
Football Team: Kevin
Robertson
Player
of the Year
As the season is
almost over, can you start giving some thought to your nomination for this seasons
Player of the Year. The winner will be announced at the AGM, but if you could please let
me have your vote I will ensure that it is counted. You are requested to select your
first, second and third choice players. 5 Points will be allocated to your 1st choice, 3
points to your 2nd choice and 1 point to your 3rd choice. Can you
please complete the attached form before returning it to the address above or phone/e-mail
me with your nominations.
Season Tickets
Tickets are still
available for the St Mirren game on Saturday 17th April so if any member
is planning to be in Edinburgh that weekend and would like to use them, then they should
give me a call on the above number.
Fanzine
To ensure that we
have our 2nd fanzine for the season on sale before the Morton game, can I
remind you all that the deadline for submitting articles for the next issue is Tuesday
13 April. As I will be unable to make the April meeting, can you please send your
contributions to me at the above address or by e-mail to [email protected].
