Happy
1999
A very happy, healthy and prosperous New
Year to all our members and their families. Hopefully the next 5 months will be as
successful and enjoyable as the last few months of the season and that our winning run
continues through until May!
December Meeting
In keeping with the fantastic support that
we are seeing at Easter Road this season, there was an excellent turn out at the December
meeting with 18 members along to what is normally our quietest meeting of the year.
Apologies were received from David Smith, Bryan Rogan and Tony Connor and there were 3 of
our new members, Kym Innes, Ewan Hunter and John Robinson attending their first meeting.
The usual topics were discussed at length and Alex Lindsay proposed that we organise group
travel to the Airdrie game on 20 March. As we very rarely travel to Edinburgh as a club,
it was agreed that this was a good idea and that we should follow it up - You never know,
this could be the vital game that gets us back into the Premier Division. Alex was asked
to find out more information on costs, timings etc and report back at the January meeting
when this topic will be discussed in more detail.
Burns Night Supper
Tickets are now on sale for the Burns Night
Supper, which will take place in the Holyrood on Saturday 30 January starting at
7.30pm. Tickets this year will cost 15 each and, for the benefit of those members who
have not been along to one of these evenings before, will include a traditional meal of
Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, live music from 9pm 2am and a wee drink or two
throughout the evening. The haggis will be piped in at around 8.30pm and will be addressed
by our very own Stuart Donald. Following the meal there will be a raffle with over 250
worth of prizes which includes a signed Hibs strip, which has been donated by Morton Love.
Dress for the evening is of course Tartan
and/or Green so dig out your old kilts, last used at the World Cup in France last year.
There will once again be a prize for the best-dressed lady and gentleman so you are
encouraged to dress up and make this a good Scottish/Hibby evening.
With Pat Stanton as our guest of honour and
both George Stewart and Jimmy ORourke coming down from Edinburgh at their own
expense for the party, this is sure to be a fantastic night out for our members, their
friends and families, so if you have not yet purchased or reserved your tickets, then you
are encouraged to do so without delay. For those members who will not be attending the
January meeting, you should complete the enclosed form and return it to me at the above
address. On receipt of your cheque I will send you your tickets by first class mail.
London Hibs
Merchandise
There is still quite a bit of our new
merchandise available so if you have not yet ordered one of our new Fleece jackets,
Coaching jackets or Polo Shirts, then can you complete the enclosed form and return it to
me at the address shown.
Football Team
The team will play Rangers in the next
round of the APFSCIL Cup on Sunday 24 January. The game, which will be at the
Rangers ground in Syon Lane, will kick off at 2pm so if you are not doing anything that
day, then the team will be very grateful for your support. For further details on how to
get to the ground, please contact Kevin Robertson. In their first season back in
the 1st Division, the team is currently in mid table with wins over Bristol
City and Nottingham Forrest over the last 6 weeks.
London Hibs Season
Tickets
The clubs Season tickets are still
available for the Scottish Cup game on 23 Jan and the Stranraer game on 6 Feb
so if you would like to reserve one of them then please give me a call. For those people
who will be using the tickets for the Hamilton game on 16 Jan (Stuart Dickson and Bryan
Rogan) you should collect them from the Hibs shop before the game and return them
immediately afterwards. If anyone has any questions regarding the use or availability of
these tickets then give me a call. You are reminded that tickets are allocated on a first
come, first served basis. Only family members may reserve both tickets for a game, but if
no one else is after the 2nd ticket, then single members can use them both at
5 each.
January Meeting
The January get together will take place on
Tuesday 12 January starting at 8pm. With the team currently 8 points clear at the top of
the Division, there will hopefully be another good turnout at this meeting. It is
tradition at the club for the treasurer to buy each member attending the January meeting a
New Years drink so if there was ever any incentive needed to get you along, then surely a
free pint will do!
