Result 2-2

We were flying so high and then we came unstuck in the most unfair way. We went behind to a good free kick from Man Utd, they were more committed and direct than us and it showed. We got one back through under the weather Adam Pomoro. Dave and I switched Neil Hinty to the right side and Adam up front. This brought the immediate dividend of an equaliser.

Half time 1-1

Second half after an absolute bollocking from me, cutting out the central midfield over-elaboration and switching to direct football. We began to dominate. There was a wonderful move for the second goal. James Allen floated a lovely cross in for Neil Hinty who volleyed across the box with Adam Pomoro volleying sweetly home for 2-1 to London Hibs.

Thereafter it all began to go a bit pear shaped, with Adam sending in a rifle of a shot hitting the back of the stanchion, 2 yards over the line. This was a clear goal, but it was hit with such force that it was not given and play went on.

Gerry Vavasour, was then brought down for the umpteenth time in the box, for the official to wave play on, to howls of derision from all those favouring the lads in Green & White.

Man U, swept forward again winning two corners in succession, the second of them JL fumbled knocking onto their on coming forward 2-2.

We then responded in the only way we know, by fighting. We again swept forward, down the left this time, Neil Hinty causing havoc in their box, the ball is swept in and the Man Utd player knocks the ball down with his hand, in full view of me Scot Dave and their linesman, no penalty awarded and so the game ended.

MOM: Adam Pomoro, who turned up with a heavy flu and still scored three goals, one cruelly disallowed. Thank you for your outstanding commitment to the cause.

Match View:

I was really upset after this result. The season could hinge on results like this. The referee is without doubt the most timid referee in the league; there is a strongly worded letter of complaint heading toward the referee secretary. I was frankly disgusted with the mealy mouthed way the game was conducted by him.

In the circumstances I dont want to say much more.

Our next game back is against Eire on the 9th of January, new century, new London Hibs.

On a sadder note, Grant is leaving the team to focus on other activities, he will be supporting us in the Cup and he wishes us all the best for the future. We wish him all the best in turn. Personally speaking I will miss his enthusiasm and drive, and wish him all the best for his future. Once a London Hibby, always a London Hibby.

Have a great Christmas and fantastic millennium

Warmest wishes

Kevin
