Nothing more we could have done.

Aberdeen well worthy of the victory on the day. Got the tactics spot on. Disappointed but not self inflicted. Not quite sure well worthy is the case but they got Celtic on an off day and who still missed big chances

They defended well but Celtic played the game at training pace

Absolutely devastating after our efforts this year. Takes nothing away as we done our job but that group deserved a wee bit of luck

Said on matchday thread the game swung on the subs. Yang, McCowan and forest negatively impacted celtic whereas gueye and the wide players brought strength and pace

Aberdeen were absolutely stinking until Schmeichel gave them a goal.

It does go to show that your best chance against Celtic is to sit deep and hope they have an off day.

This is exactly it. But you have to have them having a stinker to win a Cup.

They never have off days vs us.

I’ve been to 3 finals vs Celtic. Lost every one of them.

Aye maybe but saying Aberdeen deserved to win is just nonsense.

It's not nonsense because, news flash, they won.

In football the team that deserves to win wins. 'Aye they had less chances', 'aye we had more possesion', 'their keeper made a mistake' etc etc is all just noise.

If you create 10 chances and miss 9 and the other team creat 1 and score 1 then you get what you deserve. I'm as gutted as anyone but Celtic played the game like it was a foregone conclusion and paid the price. Aberdeen sat in and waited for the chance and got a bit of luck. If we had doing the same we'd be waxing lyrical about Gray's tactical genius right now.

Morris made a difference when he came on. The Celtic back line looked nervous when he ran at them. Apart from Forrest I I thought Celtic were poor. Yang is an awful footballer.

They did because they did.

I agree Aberdeen deserved it today. They defended brilliantly, worked hard, forced celtic in to some errors, looked extremely dangerous and in the last 10 minutes amd through extra time, and played a blinder with the penalties.

'The team that wins deserves to win' statement though? I'm not sure about that. There's any number of ways a team can be fantastic and then lose unluckily. Other teams can be garbage and somehow get a bit of fortune. The team that deserves to win, doesn't always.

I'd rather not see any other club beat the uglies in a cup final that isn't us. Especially one of a similar size. Hearts or Aberdeen winning a cup is disastrous for Hibs at the best of times but this is 10 times worse with what was at stake. Never been so gutted at a result in a game that didn't involve Hibs. Could have been transformational for Hibs. Why do these opportunities always seem to slip past us?

It’s a proper GIRUY from that lot and most of the media. Watching Dons spend our money in the summer and their fans swanning around Europe will make me sick. They and their BBC chums will be insufferable.

TBF they were pretty good at the start of the season. They were as good as we were crap. It where you end up. Does this mean Dundee Utd miss out in Europe entirely? Or was it just to decide who goes in at the later round?

No, Dundee United get conference league QR2 I think, which is one stage behind where we drop into if we loose our first tie.

Their loss from today is a sore one too, although nowhere near ours.

That Maeda chance is one of those incidents where if you freeze frame the game there's a gloriously obvious option that no one notices at the time - he could've easily nudged it in front of Forrest (who was clearly wanting it) and you've got a lovely fairytale winner for him and happy days for us.

Looking at the Celtic bench yesterday, that’ll probably give them a boot up the arse to invest even more in the summer and they’ll probably clear up next season.

No real chances other than the player of the year in the last minute

That that Aberdeen team have had the last laugh after everything that's happened in the last six months is seriously hard to stomach.

A lot of chickens had been counted before that final and I'm certainly guilty of that too. Football, like life, has a nasty habit of kicking you in the balls when you take things for granted. Over to SDG and the team now to navigate a path to the group stage that is rightfully ours. Then we'll have the last laugh on hearts.

Not just you.

Given the 35 year wait and the massive task of beating celtic in that final, I would have expected bigger.

Maybe that's me being a bit bitter. But as you say, well done the Dons. They played that game the only way they possibly could play it and got the job done.

They are a funny lot in Aberdeen though, I could be wrong but I get the impression if you don't actually follow the club there isn't much residual soft support for them, the sort of affection, without being an active supporter, that will get you out onto the street to give them a cheer for winning a trophy. Something that I think was a big factor in the massive turnout when we won in 2016.

That's maybe encapsulated in the, lets say less than enthusiastic, support from the local council and populace to get behind their plans for a new stadium. It's one thing reveling in the good publicity any success brings to the city, quite another to reward that positivity with tangible assistance. Mind you, Aberdeen isn't unique in that as Hibs can attest to.
