Actually thought gray set us up well, looked really solid and attacking subs on to go for it as the game wore on. Thought you an was poor when he came on, hopefully improve with games.
If we'd scored the pen, id have fancied us to win

Encouraged by the performance that we are coming together as a team, Sevco are crap and will do well to finish second this season, seem to have downgraded on players, Triantis, Kwom and Hoilett look very very good.

What an opportunity to beat the Huns, make no bones about that was an massive opportunity missed, would have left Hoilett and kuan on as youhan weakened us and then missed kuans drive, there was promising signs that we are improving but once again we get zero points

A lot of encouraging signs today, ok we lost but I thought as a unit we played well, defended very well and created a few chances if half chances. Maybe an unnecessary substitution too many but Im not knocking SDG for that, his intentions were positive and its been a while since we were in a position at Ibrox to be going for it.
Well done lads a lot to take forward there for me.
Rangers sure arent catching Celtic anytime soon.
Up next weekend for the Motherwell game and very much looking forward to it.

Can't fault the effort from Hibs today, and actually feeling a little disappointed, if Myko converts his pen then the second half might have been different, all over them that second half.
A poor spell in the game for Miller has cost us and I think SDG will be disappointed we never came away with anything.
Both CB'S and GK deserve a mention, especially Ekpiteta, who all have been under some criticism early on.
St Johnstone win was vital for SDG who probably would be under some pressure if we was still looking for our first win of the season after today's game, time to push on now with some winnable games and put in a good run for October.

Couldn’t have asked much more from Hibs today.
We played well, created chances and defended solidly. Miller let us down by diving and Myko let us down with his horrid penalty attempt. Aside from those two events, I thought we were excellent and deserved much more from that match.
Standouts for me: Hoilett (MOTM), Triantis, Kwon and Ekpiteta.
Agree with the standouts. The penalty was a big disappointment, but happens … Miller done lots good too in their half, but I know the situation around the goal should’ve been defended better. Overall many many positives … show that against others, we will see improvement … and more points on the board than not.

Aside the usual comedy moments, Miller and the penalty it was a decent display. No better than that against a poor Rangers side.
The problem we have is we still have a few imposters in the team who let us down Miller and Youan today.
We will never be a serious team until we are rid of players such are these.
Perform like that every week and we'll win more than we'll lose.

Agree with all of that. You can’t miss penalties though, especially when you are playing the ugly sisters.

Don't think they were choices. Hoillet won't play many 90 minutes and Triantis picked up a knock.
Unfortunate timing of Nectars knock given Kwon had just come off. Don’t think the Kwon sub would have been made otherwise

Very frustrating but a few good performances. More convincing from Bursik, Ekpiteta solid all game and never put a foot wrong, Kwon and Triantis very good in midfield and make us look a lot more settled, Hoillett looks like a very talented footballer. O’Hora done pretty well too, as did Cadden.

I grew up in the era of John McDonald for the huns, would have made a career as good as Tom Daley if he was not a footballer.
Miller for his size and weight would have won every gold medal at the olympics if he'd taken up diving rather than football, i wish he had.
Never good enough to play right back for us, an awful player with a good throw in.
Said it very early after he first signed, he's done very little to change my opinion.

We were good enough to win this game even although the sloppy penalty kick cost us badly and, unfortunately, our substitutions this time resulted in a lower energy, less cohesive team.
Gayle looks sharp but he needs proper service or it's going to be Vente all over again. Elie looks incredibly out of touch. Once our substitutes came on Rangers became much more of a threat but in the second half we were easily the better team. Rangers are going to struggle this season but so will we if we play this well but can't find the net, especially when gifted a penalty.
A hat tip to Bursik for that fantastic save from Dessers and to the defence for really looking hard to break down. That's really encouraging.
And a docked salary for Nick Walsh for failing to book Soapy Souttar for a deliberate handball.

Its a bugger not to take something from that game, but IMO we should concentrate of the positives because it sounds like we played ok in the first half and pretty well in the 2nd. In the end only lost to a well taken goal and a pish penalty.
Got to hope Triantis is ok because he has clearly made a difference to our midfield. Sounds like we were pretty solid in the middle of defence too which is a positive.
No criticism from me for SDG trying to bring on fresh legs when we were on top, it didn't work out but fair play to him for being positive. Too bad that most of the guys he had available from the bench have various issues limiting their effectiveness EG lack of game time and in some cases lack of ability / attitude.
Whatever happened today we lost narrowly and undeservedly at a place we usually do badly at, the trick is to build on that and continue to improve starting with Motherwell next Saturday.

Spot on.
Don't like Hibs players who look for fouls. Miller clearly does. For someone with his physical strength (he has zero guile), he doesn't half fall around the pitch.
Rangers clearly targeted him when he had his wobbly patch in the game and we suffered for it. Other teams have as well. Managers in the SPFL all know he is rash, impetuous and picks up bookings.
No point in saying 'oh, but he had a good 2nd half'.
The right side of our defence will continue to be a problem if Miller always gets picked.
Clement's summary of the handball was wrong. Can clearly see an extra upward movement of Souttar's arm just before the ball hits it. Even Boyd said it was a clear pen, though might have argued otherwise if we'd scored it.

We do, but we've now played both of the uglies plus tricky away games at killie and st mirren. Biggest thing for me was the quality of performance, clear to see a structure, we stopped crosses into the box much better and drove things from midfield.
I think we'll see more attacking intent going forward from here, gray clearly trying to get the balance right in this game.
We've been significantly hampered by Bowie's injury, plus Boyle today so we do need to give the team some slack I'm actually feeling really positive after that.

There's the rub though, that's been the mantra around him since he arrived at Hibs.
Been with us for 2 years now and he didn't arrive as an untried player, already had 51 games at a decent level and has now played 67 games for us. In all his time with Hibs he's been the same, one good game in every three and the odd flash of quality. Now he appears to be adding a pish attitude to that hit and miss form.
If he was worth 2 million in the summer he isn't now. If he really is keen on a move then he has to throw his all at this season and make himself a player another club will want to pay money for ... as things stand he'll be lucky to get into the Hibs starting XI in front of Hoilett and Boyle and that's a Boyle 7 years older than him who has lost a good bit of pace.

You see the best of Miller when Hibs are chasing it and he's forced to come forward, he can be a very effective player in those circumstances ... but if he's going to be a fullback he needs to vastly improve his defending which for the most part wouldn't get him a game at St Johnstone, never mind Hibs.

Doesn’t matter if they’ve not influenced it. Had one of them got to the revound, that’s a different story.
Is that a recent change?

Gutted we didn’t take the point after a dreadful penalty
Our performances are getting better though and a few players missing today
Would Boyle have made a difference with his pace No guarantee he would of scored the pen but he wouldn’t of wasted it like Myko did
Bowie is a big miss even though he was just getting back to fitness That game was made for him late on coming off the bench
But we are where we are Need to bounce back with a win next game

Felt before the first goal we should have sent on instructions for more protection on Millers side, the signs where there are the time, other than that 20 min period he was fine but he does seem to be prone to that small bad period in games
But it’s supposed to be Caddens strength as a predominantly defensive wide mid, compared to having someone like boyle or youan in front of a full back:dunno: Either Cadds didnt do his job today or it wasnt enough to make up for Millers errors. It was obvious across the pitch that Hoilett was covering really well on the left side and making things easier for Obita.

No it’s always been my understanding. There is encroachment at pretty much every penalty, it’s only pulled up if you get to the ball though. Same the other way round if you’re an attacker.

Hoilett and Bowie are streets ahead of him .. Rudi is showing signs of being a great player one day too. Add in Boyle, and I don’t see us using Youan much when the others are available … I was surprised Youan before Rudi today … SDG is maybe protecting Rudi a bit, but if so, that shouldn’t have included not bringing him on today.

I thought it was a strange decision from Clemant to hook McAusland at half time. It was obviously a tactic to get 2 on 1 with Millar and it looked to be working. Cadden should have helped out more I thought. Millar had an excellent second half after Rangers kindly sorted out our first half defensive issue for us.

Scandalous decision we were through on goal ffs. Walsh in perfect position. The decision to give a foul against Mykola when we were on top and should have had a corner was a complete joke

Anyone else think Butland was off his line for the penalty. Froze the screen right on and he looks off it

I saw it differently; i thought mccausland was quite poor and not surprised he got hooked, it, sounds counterintuitive because Miller was having a mare against him but mcausland messed up loads of chances to put us away with sloppy possession. Second half miller just tightened up his act a bit i think.

I think it was a poor penalty and he gave Butland a god chance to save it.

That has never been the case. Encroachment has always been an offence. If by adefender, kick is retaken if missed,if by an attacker kick is reataken if scored.

That was the booking for what wasn’t even a foul. The the rangers players rolling around is ridiculous … but the “referee” (some of them are not fit to be titled that, it should be reserved for neutral officials) laps it up, surprise surprise..

We've never looked like scoring although Hibs have played better than I expected.
Of course we did, Kwon great shot that was tipped round the post by Butland, she shot by Myko that should have went in before soapy handled it and Gayles header that was inches past the post, that and a few shots that were blocked by defenders.
I think we did surprisingly well today and looked a lot more solid

That would make sense … if a player enters the box before it’s kicked, they should be penalised if they have potentially benefited from it (which then isn’t left to subjective views). However …. as usual .. up the other end of the park, every chance it would’ve been noticed. Our penalty … ha, no chance ever.

Two Rangers players in the area when the penalty was struck, one of them very clearly so.
And the goalie off his line.

Aside the usual comedy moments, Miller and the penalty it was a decent display. No better than that against a poor Rangers side.
The problem we have is we still have a few imposters in the team who let us down Miller and Youan today.
We will never be a serious team until we are rid of players such are these.
That is just utter rubbish. Miller had a tough first 15 mins or so but after that I thought he was excellent

Think Miller is getting too much flack from this thread, admittedly he was caught out a few times but he didn't let his head drop.
He did a shift today against a much better team than us.
Ellie is so frustrating, sometimes on the ball he is outstanding.
He just stands out in this game anyway as being the one that is jogging about (still covers a large distance), but never looks as if he is giving it 60% never mind 100%.
Everyone else (even Mckirdy) looked as though they were busting their guts to get to ball etc.
Big improvement overall though; Ekpiteta, Triantis and Hoilett look like progress to me.
Bursik keeping us in a difficult game as well is a good sign.
I'm starting to feel positive in the direction we are going.

The more I watch this the more it makes my piss boil.
Guessing if we had scored the penalty that Walsh (perhaps against 10 men), would have somehow found a way to make sure we lost regardless of how much the game would have been changed.

Yes. Every reason to feel positive I believe .. the players you mention I agree .. I also see a player who will give his all for us in O’Hora, but he’s still finding his feet a little, almost there though, good sign. Miller and Obita have improvements to make, I’m happy to give them that time, as it’s in a better team now, and that’ll be a positive difference for them. Hoilett is simply the class any team would be glad of … our opponents today would take him if they could, trust me … and our two mainstay midfielders are excellent … how I wish we could keep Kwon … he is going to get better too … and add in Rudi and Bowie and Boyle … Newell there too for that different thing he can bring and we can use to our benefit as needed ..
isn’t looking too bad, don’t let this 1-0 defeat at ipox fool any of us.
