Appreciate Kwon can't play and we're still faffing around trying to get McCowan in but a midfieled that has both Newell and Campbell is one of the worst in the league and I say that as someone who rates Newell. Despite folks comments on other threads, Newell is not a terrible footballer, he is just for the most part very ordinary and influences games very little, once in a while he will put in a performance that makes you think there is a very good player in there, but for the most part he is a luxury we cannot afford.

I have no problems with his effort, nor that he is not an in your face type of captain riling folk up or driving the team on, but most of the time I look at his performances and think, what's the point of him being there?

Campbell for all his good points is far far too limited a footballer to be playing SPL football, let alone in a team with our pretensions.

NMW might close down but I don’t see who else? We’ve got a static midfield who consistently fail to track their runners and are passed through like a hot knife through butter.

A cautious line up is understandable but will an extra centre back really make much difference against a team that plays a lone striker?
An extra body in midfield might be better but we’re not blessed with great options in that department. If Amos isn’t considered good enough, that’s looking like a gamble that has backfired…

I would actually put Campbell as more of a liability defensively. Repeatedly gives ball to opposition in dangerous areas.

Hopefully this system negates him having to venture back as far and concentrate on his only real strong point of getting into the opposing box and getting shots away

Was expecting a much changed Celtic team from last week, which is disappointing.

You wonder what opposition sides say in the dressing room before playing us. Press their back four/five as they can't play out from the back. Keep on top of Newell & Miller who will likely get booked early. Watch the long ball to Boyle over the top, likely to mis-control it anyway and go down a dead end.

Will today be any different.

Personally I think SDG is going with 5 at the back = 5-4-1 and needs Campbell's engine and physicality. Hope it works out for him and he can stay in the game long enough to make changes later in the 2nd half. Pretty sure we will see Rudi and Bowie to try to nick something. Won't be a game to judge big Myk on. I don't think he will see much of the ball in the 1st half.

I think that adding Rocky to the back 3 means we'll try and play a bit of a higher line and use his pace to cover in behind.

It also means him and O'Hora will get some freedom to carry the ball, possibly creating an overload on the right against Taylor, with Miller running into and Boyle drifting into space out there. If we can get Mykola right on top of Scales, we could squeeze a mistake out of him like we did when he was at Aberdeen on multiple occasions.

If Celtic really turn it on, we'll struggle, but there seems to be a legitimate plan in place to exploit weakness.
