Looks like they were just scrapping with other hibs fans next to their section?
The club need to seriously reconsider what is happening next season behind the goal. They don’t represent hibs in any way.
Was that first half?

Was that first half?
Yes, towards the end of the first half I believe - lots of folk standing up in the East and looking towards their section as something was clearly going on.
Post match, maybe half an hour later or so, there was some commotion with lots of shouting and screaming on Hawkhill Avenue before a group of Block 7 went running down Lochend Road: it appeared they were being chased, not sure if by their own kin or by Motherwell Ultras. Fagan and a smaller delegation seemed to retreat to cars before driving off down Lochend Road in the direction of the melee.

I think the usual guy with the megaphone is just a wee bit older than the rest of the group and gives the younger ones a hard time if they’re no singing loud enough. This “Fagan” type character is about 50 year old, dressed in all the gear. Each to their own an all that but bit weird imo
Is this Fagan guy a club employee?

Their banner last night, while appropriate, meant they were standing in the way of other folk before the match and during Paul and Lewis’s tribute. I don’t think that was fair. The solution would’ve been to hand the banner along to the people they ended up blocking the view of, but that would’ve been too much like common sense.
I was saying to the group I go with last night - I miss the old chants. Now all you hear is the generic ultra songs that can be heard at most other grounds (just with different words). Bring back the classics.

That's assuming you can even hear any singing over the drum. Does my head in at games these days, and when both sets of 'ultras' are at it like at Fir Park the other week - ****** me. They just drown out any actual atmostphere for me.

It is absolutely hilarious that this guy is pretty much known as "Fagan".
An unlikely link between Charles Dickens and the ultra movement.
I bet he f'ing hates it.

I think one thing we all should do next season at away games, is anytime we see these wee fannies harassing folks to move seats, we need to collectively step in and tell them to do one. It will only take four or five like minded adults to stand up to them . They’ll quickly get the message.

My first reaction was that Mackays appointment isn’t a good look, then I saw Block 7s statement and I’ve decided I’d like the Gordon’s to sell him the club. We are all MalKKKy Mackay (no really, but I hope he does a good job)

The best thing Hibs could do is to abandon the safe standing plan in the meantime and offer the supporters who have sat in that area for years the chance to reclaim their seat for next season. The club should not be throwing good money away to appease this mob.
You do know something like 90% of Hibs fans want safe standing it's the way forward!

I like the drum and personally think it adds to the atmosphere the best atmospheres in the world all have drummers. Some teams having 5/6. I think the problem is not enough sing to go over and above the noise of the drum.

Could have marketed it as an “away day” for the hangers on and they’d have done it for us, free of charge

Not missing a trick, the fannies will ruin it and they will be gone just like the standing area.

Are they changing the whole of the FFL to safe standing. It looked like the seats were getting ripped out from teh East side. I thought it was just the centre section. So much outlay and I hope those who wanted it use it

Centre section and from row h backwards I think Cheers. No idea why that makes sense unless it is for reducing viewing restrictions but at least it is less money than doing the full lower section. I doubt we will need to take the other seats away

I’ve noticed that too although you don’t have much choice if the front few rows stand so I guess it’s a choice of seeing the game or not, doesn’t mean they all like it!

Has there been a survey at any point on safe standing, or the replacement of the Family Section in the FF Lower?
:dunno:

Has there been a survey at any point on safe standing, or the replacement of the Family Section in the FF Lower?
:dunno: Yes (https://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/news/2024/january/25/Safe-Standing-To-Be-Introduced-At-Easter-Road/) but as with many surveys it doesn't mean much as we don't know how many filled it in and there was an obvious cohort who had been advocating for it. If the survey said would you be in favour of safe standing or buying a player we may have got a different answer. To me the survey never asked the right questions and was always going to get a positive result. Saying that it is probably worth a try and at least it will stop the year on year campaigning for a safe standing area behind the goals. I suspect it will be very quiet in terms of numbers and volumes and if the next generation of Ultras(2 to 3 years away) think watching the game from the halfway line or near the away fans is fashionable we will be back to square one.

Thanks guys. I'm a regular Season Ticket holder and honestly didn't know there had been a survey, which makes me wonder who was asked and what the criteria was to be included.
Don't get me wrong, I've been desperate for a return to at least some form of terracing for a long time, so I'm not against having standing sections, I'm just curious about how all of this was done.

I'm not a fan of Block 7 but fair play to these guys today - created a decent atmosphere, sang some classic Hibs songs and gave Lewis and Paul a good send off at the end. Credit where credit's due.

We had the misfortune of being fairly close to them today having seats in the corner. I'm just getting old I reckon as I can't make out half the songs they're singing, I'm glad I was far enough away to avoid getting soaked by the cups getting launched in the air all game.
Their "leaders" need to chill, it's a bunch of 10-15 year old boys, not a platoon of soldiers.

My hungover girlfriend was not a fan of the drum 😁 but yes they certainly added a few classics but they did have their flag upside down for some reason

They were alright today but the drum gives me a sair heid and the throwing drinks around was just stupid. I just don't get what the old geezer (well younger than me probably but y'know) is doing there, it's strange but each to their own I suppose.

Just wish at my age I was a bit further away from them

Be some statement of protest against the appointment of Mackay.
Someone else did it in protest at their board for quite some time so would have got the idea from that. Now let me think, who that was again…?
Oh yes, it was the Green Brigade.

My thoughts exactly... landed close to them by mistake today. I will make a point in sitting far away from them in future. Don't think they are even interested in the game. Only plus to them today was airing a couple of songs everyone else can join in with. Throwing water around was just silly but it's just kids led by a few older lads who take it all VERY seriously. Bizarre take on 'atmosphere'.

I suppose it's a young people thing, and it's just the current fad, but being close to that racket from the drum really did my head in today.
TBF, the kids at the front of the stand seemed to be really enjoying themselves, dancing and clapping in time to the various 'tunes'... so the next generation of Section-43/Since1875/Block-7/(whatever) is already lined up ;-)

I was stuck close to them, to be fair they created a good atmosphere, apart from the drum in which I still have ringing in one ear it was annoying having to keep standing up when the boys kept walking along our row going to get water to throw, a few around me didn't look happy either!
Speaking of the drums, when queuing at half time just under them, I was watching the drummer that boy put in a right shift, worked harder than most of the players on the park, he was already red faced and sweating with the leader telling him to pick up and play harder!! Annoying but fair dues to him!

I was stood just far enough from them not to get soaked in water which they were throwing over each other. They were mostly young kids and seemed to be enjoying themselves. The drum is a bit annoying but to be fair without them the hibs end could have been mistaken for a morgue. Watching them bouncing about reminded me of the old cow shed. The rest of us need to up our game and add a bit of an atmosphere rather than complaining about the only group attempting to create one. A couple of their songs were a bit tasteless but the politics and protests are most likely being driven by the older guy who is clearly pushing his own agenda.

Could have happily seen the drum launched into the river nearby, tbh. Fair play to the folk for singing throughout but an hour and a half plus of incessant ****ing drumming would drive anyone up the wall.
