cubehindthegoal

Miller is a real good clever solid player, he is the standard we want in defence. And is great at supporting midfielders and attackers. He is the one I think other teams will look at first to poach in my opinion … hope it’s not too soon.

The point is the style creates the wins … to say it’s ok playing that style when you’re winning makes no sense. The managers teams style comes first, not the wins.

Yes but your missing the rather obvious point that's been mentioned a few times -Ange had the money to buy the players capable of doing it that allows them to win games using that style. No coincidence we've got better since ditching the tactic at half time.

The point wasn’t the same style or players as ange … it was of believing a manager has the ability to select a style and the confidence and self belief to continue with it and drill it … I think we are seeing a manager who does just that, and does it well. Anyway, not sure we will agree on this … and at this stage it is way too early to tell what he will do with us. Well done Nick Montgomery and the coaching team, restricted Celtic to very little chances without changing what you believe in.

That’s a real manager.

Struggled looking after the ball second half and needed to be better offensively but I’m sure they’ll work on that again.

Good point Hibs, well done.

2 draws and a defeat against Hearts, Rangers and Celtic with two being away from home isn’t bad going at all.

A well deserved point with some last ditch defending. Thought all the back 5 played really well.

Jeggo doing his thing again with Newell a little quiet in the second half compared to the first.

Great chance for Boyle after a terrific ball in from Obita could have gave us the 3 points.

Now time to start picking up points in the league after 3 tough games in a row and getting to the league cup final.

I agree he has made progress mate. The fact he ditched the playing out from the six yard box in the second half says to me that he could see it it wasn't working today. I'm glad he did that as we played well second half.

I'm sure we might see it again v Ross County, and I've no issues with that if it works.

Good point and good performance against a team worth in transfers term millions more than us.
Monty got this game correct and it will get better ,as he continues to impress on the players what and how he wants them to play. Next window will be interesting for us
I also agree with sponsors motm .Lewis was super. Jair gaining confidence.
And i notice the usual Celtic danger men were 1st to be subbed .
That was telling indeed .Brenda saw that we were not giving them much change
Our boys earned their wages today !
Discipline ,focus and no fear of the opposition today was nice and Martins chance that went over

I don't think it's a criticism of Hibs to say that Celtc looked a bit off form, though. There are days when they can be a bit under par but still rip other sides apart... but we didn't allow that to happen.

I think we rode our luck in the first half hour but gradually got better.

I don't think it's a criticism of Hibs to say that Celtc looked a bit off form, though. There are days when they can be a bit under par but still rip other sides apart... but we didn't allow that to happen.

TBH, today's game makes me feel a bit more confident about next week.

Feel exactly the same. Hopefully a win on Tuesday to set us up nicely for the semi. Today is a confidence boost. No doubt about it.

He wasn't moaning though he was just pointing out Celtic weren't that great, which was true. It was a perfectly balanced comment. The only people moaning are those upset about about a reasonable comment. :greengrin

Just back, I thought we played really well, we kept our shape and stuck to our game plan. I just wish the support would be a bit more patient with the team, there were a few boo's in the first half. We're clearly trying something new and it will take time to bed in.

Jair was way better than I expected so fair play to him. Miller well deserving of his MOTM.

I would take one defeat from these three fixtures every time.

Especially when we have been second best in every game.

Thought we were good today. Monty got it spot on, and Celtic looked ordinary. We could have won it but a draw a fair result. Pick up 3 points on Tuesday and it’s been a a good set of results from difficult fixtures. (Yes I know the defeat to the Huns was too heavy but losing at ibrox was no disgrace)

Expected us to get thumped today, so I’m pleased with the way things turned out.

Poor first half, decent second, cracking result.

Now let’s win some games, climb the league, and get to the final.

Getting any result against Celtic regardless of how poor they were, is still a big deal considering the complete gulf in quality. I still think we need to work on how we approach these games though. It felt like Celtic were there for the taking today.

Really good performance today. Celtc were coming into the game tired so it was important we never made it easy for them and made them work. The short kick outs did cause us more issues than them until Marshall realised he could mix it up a bit but we also adapted well after a few scares.

I think quite a few of our stars never shone today with Boyle, Youan and Vente pretty poor when we had the ball. They all did a shift though and that has been missing far too often from our wingers. Jair did well too and some of his positioning when we had the ball was excellent. I get the feeling Levitt would work well with a player that finds those pockets of space. Defence to a man all played well with Miller the standout player on the pitch. Rocky needs to watch the line as a few times he was sat two and three yards deeper and giving Celtc the chance to make runs in behind Fish.

All in all an important match for the manager as his chosen formation could have been a stick to beat him with if we had suffered a big defeat. As it was it was proof that even our creative players can do a job defensively by simply putting in the graft and if they do that the shape won't matter too much. Important to see a response from such a poor performance last week too so well done the squad and management team.

Just back, pleased with the display, we had some chances they had some as well, on other days we would have folded when they started turning the screw after Vente went off and this gave MacGregor some time and space to effect the smelics.
Good to see some battles being won, and L.Miller put in some shift for a well deserved MOM in my humble.
On to Tuesday and we need to turn that one into 3 points.

Unless you are BBC Scotland who gave it to Marshall (who did have a couple of excellent saves).

Thoroughly deserved point today. Great defensive performance, Miller was outstanding, Rocky and Jeggo excellent.

I think although we lost alot of what Boyle can offer by playing him the way we did, he would have put the doubt in the back of the mind of Celtic and forced them to sit a little deeper when he could give us that one moment - and it almost worked perfectly.

Big week coming up now.

Aye Marshall did make two great saves to be fair, not sure about the second one, looked good at least! But that one in the first half was brilliant.

Marshall caused the need for a good second save in the second half, almost costs a goal once more.

Your right listen to Montgomery's after match comments, he said, I'm unwavering in the way I want to play and how I want my team to play. So people better get use to it, he ain't for changing.
