**** yes! Good game. Stats at half time didn't make for pretty viewing but never really felt we were struggling much. Completely different game in the second half. Gave oursleeves a chacne at 4th after it was looking like it was getting away from us. Weel done Hibs. Lewis Miller MotM. Lifted those around him. Great game.

Go read back some of the embarrassing posts from half time.

Brilliant Hibs, full of fight and energy and kept going even when 3-2 up.

Nisbet steps up under huge pressure and shuts up many.

Miller absolutely outstanding.

I said it during the game but Miller really needs a run at right back. On that evidence he’s miles ahead of Cadden in every aspect in that position.

What a victory that was!

First half I could understand the game plan and we did keep it tight and a good shape for most of the half. Not to much going forward due to the amount of bodies back in our own half.

Second half, a change in set up and fair play to the players and Johnson for stepping up and putting in a deserved 4-2 10 men or not.

Nisbet so composed and calm in his pen after his last few misses and Miller was my MOTM, Youan aswell is such a big threat at times for us.

GGTTH.

Playing against 10 men helped but that was fully deserved for their 2nd half performance.

Unbelievable some of the reactions/posts on here to being 1-0 down to Celtic at half time through a penalty when we had plenty good chances

Saw some saying we don’t perform after the split etc etc

Why do we always play crap in these split games, yet to see us have a decent finish to a season, only when Lennon was in charge but generally we just don't turn up, so bloody annoying.

Hope you enjoyed the second half

Tbh I was one of the worst offenders. At HT I was disillusioned of yet another limp performance against the OF. but the transformation in the 2nd half was incredible and huge credit to Lee and the players

What a player Youan is. I know his second goal was a mistake by Bain but Celtic were terrified everytime he got the ball that second half. They were constantly doubling up on him, yet he still managed to get some great balls into the box.

If we can get a centre forward with a bit of physical presence and some goals about them, plus add an attacking mid who carries a threat, with Boyle also back we will have some really exciting options going forward.

Absolutely delighted.

Great result and delighted for the team and manager, especially some of the more maligned players.

I know this is a place to debate and sometimes vent but some of the HT comments are frankly hilariously embarrassing. We're meant to be supporters.

Who called LJ's Hibs boring? That certainly wasn't! Been numerous games this season have been very exciting.

If we can nick 4th it'll be a good end to the season.

Most one-paced midfield ever.

That's our biggest problem area.

From an attribute perspective, lack of pace is our biggest problem. Invite teams on to us. Nisbet is a good enough player but we need more physicality and more pace to move forward as a team.

I thought we looked quite quick tonight, and quite physical. Miller, Nisbet and Youan seemed quite physical out there.

You’d be a bit fuming if you’re Miller.

Chucked in out the blue last time against Celtic and played really well.

Dropped for the next game, hardly played a minute since and starting again

Hopefully he’s right mentally for it and not thinking it’s irrelevant how he plays as he’ll be dropped for the next

We now have momentum while Hearts will be gutted they have blown 3rd. They were 11 points ahead of 4th back in early Feb.

A win on Saturday, 4th place, back to back derby wins will give Johnson a lot of credit in the bank.

Midfield is where we lack mobility the most though.

Adding more pace to this team would go a long way.

It's strange, I'm fed up with Hibs but also optimistic. You see hints at where we're going. LJ has routinely said we're building. Just hope we build a more mobile and balanced midfield.

Wow.

Wasn’t at the game tonight but I got the ppv and dipped in and out as I worked.

One of my biggest Hibs.net pet hates is when somebody snidely dredges up “sticking the neck out” posts with the full benefit of hindsight on their side in order to lay into folk for what they said in the heat of the moment.

But given tonight is a great night for all of us - I’ve just had a read right through this thread and it is comedy gold.

Rather than slag anyone off I salute everyone who shares their opinions and emotions, because it’s certainly a rollercoaster following this lot.

Agreed. The first half was poor and boring. What came after doesn't change that. I'm delighted as anyone with the win and can't understand why at a time like this folk would chose to go back and find old posts to 'settle scores'.

Plenty will post things like "I can see us getting something out of this" before we get a doing, or predict a Hibs win when we end up losing - no one goes back and pulls those up to score points.

This isn’t true at all, anytime we lose there is a plethora of posters who appear to gloat about how they were right and criticising those who don’t want to give him the bullet. The last few days has seen plenty posts from people saying “told you so” and referencing debates where people defended Marshall.

First half was fine. We had a game plan to hit them on the break and playing long which naturally would have resulted in us conceding a lot of possession. If not for a couple of excellent Bain saves we could have scored a couple.

He’s very good in the big games at winning the ball back.

I want to see him like that every single game

Think it's unrealistic as he's so good in those games because we have less of the ball. Games where we have more of the ball he's hit or miss, depends who's next to him.

Edit- should say I mean unrealistic to expect that type of performance from him weekly, do agree he needs to be better on the ball in games vs smaller teams though. He's a good player so it's not ability

You can’t say it’s hindsight when the poster called it out at half time too.

One of my biggest issues is fans needlessly putting the boot into absolutely everyone when the team go a goal behind, especially to a pen against the old firm when we could have scored a couple ourselves in the first half.

It just seems some genuinely enjoy Hibs losing to almost prove a point about them being right.

Some of the stick Nisbet was getting is laughable

But we won and that’s all that matters - glory glory!

How can it be spot on tactically when we lost 3-1 at the weekend when we barely laid a glove on them?

I'm delighted with the result but tonight we had a Celtic player sent off, a Hibs penalty and their keeper making 2 absolute howlers. I liked our attitude second half but the above set of circumstances is unprecedented in my time following Hibs. We can't set up hoping for that every time against the OF cause it'll be a another few decades before we see it again.

You could also argue and say Celtic had a penalty and their second goal was a handball in the lead up?

Red cards are part and parcel, you need to be smart and Maeda wasn’t, whilst the Hibs players were by drawing the fouls

So going by the goals we’re needlessly chopping off the final result is 1-0 due to Youan’s screamer when Celtic had 11 on the pitch

We now have momentum while Hearts will be gutted they have blown 3rd. They were 11 points ahead of 4th back in early Feb.

A win on Saturday, 4th place, back to back derby wins will give Johnson a lot of credit in the bank.

Would be hilarious .

It's a free hit for Hibs. We've no right to be in a position to leapfrog Hearts to 4th. Would be an absolute meltdown for the Yams.

Nah, I didn’t vanish, sure others haven’t too. It was boring at half time. It was great in the second half, the players stepped up and it was really enjoyable.

Maeda’s performance was bizarre.

In these days of betting scandals it looked borderline suspicious.

He was angry, rash and careless. It looked like he was going off from the moment he went on. Sometimes players get themselves too wound up in high pressure games but what did he have to be so wound up about?

Weird.

I thought the Celtic manager slipped up keeping him on. When they made 3 changes together I thought he was guaranteed to be one of the ones substituted.

Fair play to Hibs for making the extra man count. Thought we were insipid on Sunday, second half tonight was much more like it. You’ve got to be at the OF to take anything off them.

Same energy and application on Saturday. If we do it, we do it, but just have a go at the *******s and see what happens.

GTF with that chat. So what if Celtic had a man sent off. What sort of stupid point are you trying to make about Hibs getting a penalty when Celtic got one too? And as for the goalkeeper errors, so our performance/result isn't as good because of their keeper's errors? We played better than Celtic and deserved to win, why can't you just leave it at that instead of looking for reasons to diminish the result/performance?

I couldn’t believe he left turnbull on as well who looked injured. Could hardly run at times and then he made his 5th sub meaning Turnbull had to stay on.

Strange decisions from him tonight.

Football is played over 90 minutes, not 45 minutes so there are always ups and downs. If you want to avoided that watch edited highlights on TV.

Well that was a fun second half. In the first our tactics appeared to be stand off them completely until the edge of our own area, flood it with bodies and hit on the break. Not an approach that makes for an enjoyable watch for a home crowd - but even then we create really good chances as we did on Sunday.

It would be fair comment at half time to call it a bore and start thinking there wasn't much spark in the performance to suggest it would pan out any differently from Sunday. But in the second half - OK Celtic went down to 10 - but It just shows what you can do when you go after them. The sending off wasn't a guarantee of anything. We really started to get the press right and were winning the ball back constantly. For a period we were electric for 10-15mins and they couldn't get out.

Well done Hibs. I hope a penny for LJ's thoughts and lessons are being learned for these fixtures next year. You'd have to say we've done about all we can over the last few weeks to give us a chance, but just too many slips through the season to get best of the rest. Sets us up for another final go on Saturday though

Not points wise as we still have to win but the confidence that equaliser will give the Jambos is a pisser.

Maybe so. But the one thing that is in our favour is that we know we have to win. It's not always the best thing to be in the stick or twist situation of do you play not to lose or try to win the game, which is where Hearts now find themselves. And so far as confidence goes, how can we lack any after putting 4 goals past Celtic in any circumstances? The players should be absolutely buzzing.

Our biggest concern is going to be injuries ... Egan - Riley looks a non started and there has to be a doubt over Newell as well. One thing is for certain, Miller simply has to play, his good overall performance tonight notwithstanding, which should be enough in itself, I couldn't believe how far the guy can chuck a ball, any time we get a throw in more than 10 yards into the Hearts half it will be as good as a free kick or a corner on their postage stamp pitch.

Having said that. A draw at Ibrox isn't to be sniffed at and they are at home, so they will still be favourites. But at half time tonight when they saw Hibs were 0-1 down it must have been in their minds that the very worst outcome would be that even if they lost they would end the night at least 3 points above us with an insurmountable goal difference and that they could enjoy Saturday with the only thing at stake being derby bragging rights in a dead rubber .... 45 minutes later they had to get their minds concentrated on a whole different ball game to come.

We were a keeper howler away from being level at the break against the Huns and had our chances until they scored the second. After that we were chasing shadows as they played keep ball but we still managed to get a save out their keeper and hit the woodwork. Nothing wrong with the tactics that only really need to change if we find ourselves behind or need to push on for a win later in the game. How many times have we been steamrolled after setting up to have a real go? I’m not a LJ fan and still doubt he can take us forward but the tactics since the split and possibly since the World Cup have been correct.

Yeah it was quite bizarre how they got the two red cards the wrong way . wasn't shown in the sky footage though it is in this one 3:10 into it , was the referee maybe influenced by O'Reilly's actions on JDH foul possibly ?.

Don't think it'll matter too much in the grand scheme of things. They will be ****ting it now at the thought of us killing their season. Yet to see how that'll affect their performance but it's a nice thought all the same.

Surprised at comments saying how boring we are, sure I’ve read how much better it’s been this season…..

As PB said good to see our last home game of the season sees JDH, Campbell and Newell back together. Ah the progress..
I was surprised at the boring comments as well tbh . Think the game plan was to keep it tight and try hit them on the break and it would have worked out perfectly only for the penalty they got . LJ changed the formation in 2nd half and to his credit it worked perfectly. Think it's been much better this season too in fairness even with JDH , Campbell and Newell back together. Definitely signs of progress being made compared to last season too .👍

That is such a obvious handball, just like it was to thousands last night. Watch as the boy that handballed it as the scorer celebrates. Not much point joining in when you know it isn't going to stand. Another obvious one against us but didn't matter for once.
