Only just acknowledged him as he went past but he stopped and we ended up talking for 45 minutes or so. Almost all about Hibs plus a few other things. Real shame that the majority of this last spell where his health was deteriorating wasn't a more satisfying one on the pitch. Really wish he could've witnessed some real success first hand, his enthusiasm and way he carried himself with the club and support deserved it.

I'm greatly saddened at this news - albeit he has only been involved at Hibs for a few years he feels very much like part of the Hibernian family - RIP Ron and deepest sympathy to his loved ones.

SOL at next home match would be a very fitting tribute.

It's really unfortunate that it's against them IMO. Fans from any other club in the league absolutely could be expected to be respectful.


I'd expect a full away end to pay tribute in the same way the whole of Scottish football did for Walter Smith. Might actually be better than a couple of hundred fans from one of the smaller clubs.

Such awful news to hear and take in - I never met Ron but he just seemed to be such a happy, positive and jovial chap who had such enthusiasm for our beloved football club. RIP Ron - thoughts are with all your family and friends.

Horrendous news. Thoughts with Kit, Ian and the rest of their family.

Really overcome with sadness on hearing that, I had hoped with the timing of the announcement that he was maybe through the worst of it.

Devastated he didn’t get to hear SOL at a packed Easter Road, he would have deserved it.

This news also shocked me to the core today.
Surprisingly I too thought about SOL upon hearing the sad news - perhaps us fans could pay tribute to Ron and his family by uniting in full song to SOL before the next home game?
I can't think of a better tribute and it makes me emotional thinking of it.

Was genuinely quite sad when I read this earlier. He seemed like a good man with the best intentions for our club.
