I watched them in Portugal when I was over and my takeaway from the game was that Marshall has to be captain.
He never stopped talking and coached Rocky through the entire game.

It was definitely my issue with him. The weekly shanks out the park where annoying but the lack of confidence to knock the ball about quickly was a far bigger issue.

I got accused of having a vendetta but I guarantee over the course of this season people will realise the difference Marshall will make.

Obviously sounds like a brilliant first half. For me the best have been JDH, Melkerson and Campbell but they are all pushing up, making tackles and playing fast. JDH looks a completely different player. Doidge has been decent and got the goals and Henderson has shown some moments of real quality and set up a goal. Henderson, importantly for me, has been a part of getting the ball back and is working hard. A very good half of football and only Kenneh of the outfield players wasn't available at the end of the season. We were so badly managed under SM it puts him in the same league as Butcher and Calderwood for me.

It’s been a lot scrappier 2nd half.

We got into a few decent positions on the right but the final ball and the movement have meant it didn’t lead to anything.

The subs have probably affected our fluency, without criticising any of the players who have come on.

We're 5-0 up and comfortable. Why needlessly waste energy and risk injury in a game that is for all intents and purposes a pre-season friendly at this point

Definitely a bit too like last season if you minus the 5 goals we scored. Like cathro once said, if there were no goalposts it would have been a draw.

We took from 19th of Feb to 19th of March to score 5 goals in all our games last year…

We looked a lot worse without Doidge and he took his 3 goals well.

2nd half was a procession. Game well and truly over. All about coasting the 2nd half and not picking up any silly injuries. Couldn't have been a better way to start our season. Hopefully some of the new guys permits will come through before the next game.

The only small let downs in the game for me were Lewis wasn't at his best and I thought Kenneh was pretty poor on the ball but was good winning it back. All in all a very different first game than the likes of Heckingbottom had in this competition. So may positives and I don't think we should be too unhappy with the second half as that is fairly normal when teams go so far ahead.

Agree on Lewis, thought his crossing was really poor and Kenneh was careless in possession quite a lot.

I'm sure the coaches would have a lot of positives today. Great to see the pace & movement & intent in that first half.

For me, if I was an opposition scout, I'd be saying the best chance teams will have v Hibs is to rob the ball from Kenneh (he wants a little too much time, as a first impression) and if he loses it as CDM, a good team will score on the break.

All in all though, great to see the new signings AND great to see the difference some positive coaching & tactics have had (so far) on last seasons players too.
