Really sad news. Andy is the best goalie I've seen in a Hibs jersey.

My condolences to his family.

RIP The Goalie.

Yes best ever Hibs goalie.Lucky to his debut and his great performance in the 2-1 October 87 Derby at ER.
Was in the North Stand that game when John Colquhoun tried to challenge Andy after Andy caught the ball. Colquhoun ended up flat on his back on the ground this received a standing ovation from the North Stand and by the way he made some excellent saves that game. Like all great goalies made the difficult look easy.

Totally agree Filipino
One save at the end of that game was unreal
When we were hanging on a bit!
I was on the old North Stand and looking at the whole East singing “Andy Andy Andy “
Thanks to him the celebrations after were something.
And his fee to Old Rangers probably made it easier to save Hibs 1991
RIP Andy Gorsm

RIP Andy Goram. Awful disease and a horrible way to complete your life. Some great stories from his big mate Duncan Lambie - who used to be in the same gym class as me and a few other mates. A character didn't begin to describe him. Black eyed in a promotional photo in the match programme, running up the pitch in the Anderlecht game to insist Houchen took the pen (as he'd a bet on him scoring) and making world cup winning saves every week - well except in his first Semi with Rangers.... I was at Hampden when he was put in goal surprisingly for the Brazil game in the Rouse cup. He made a superb attempt to keep the ball out for the first goal but couldn't get to the rebound. No idea he' be with us a few months later.

Yes Alex Miller told him to stick to the fitbaw, but Andy done as he pleased. Remember seeing him at Craiglockhart tennis courts. I went over to him & said " I hope you've been given permission to play tennis " He just laughed.
There cannot be many sportsman out there being capped for your country in 2 different sports.

Also seen him in Shandon snooker centre on a Friday night before a game.

Finally remember we were playing Hamilton @ Hamilton & during warm up he shouts over to me "What was the winner of the 2.30"

Before you ask I didn't know him & wasn't stalking him.

I used to see him at Powderhall after the game too betting on the greyhounds, think he was with Andy Rhodes but it was a long time ago so maybe someone else!

A goalkeeper ahead of his time with the ball at his feet, and great command of his area for a guy who wasn’t the tallest.

That night in Liege was the best performance I’ve ever seen from a goalkeeper, only to be beaten by that freak strike from the Liege player.

On a different note, he was born only 3 days before me, makes you ponder your own mortality, but he was certainly a guy who lived his 58 years to the full.

“I can understand why Stranraer lie so lowly, they could save a lot of points by signing Hibs’ goalie.”

Rest easy, Andy.

Likewise I was in Liege and his performance defied logic, specifically that save from the header.

He was truly a hero a generation of Hibs fans from the moment he had his debut to when he left to join the Huns. Even after that I found it difficult to dislike him simply cause he was the best goalkeeper I’m ever likely to see play for Hibs plus on the one or two occasions I was in his company he was just a great guy.

Yes agree his sale helped save Hibs. Was in the East that day with my cousin Ronaldo from Brazil who was visiting. He said the fans were much crazier than anything he had seen in Brazil.

When playing for Sherwood Boys Club from Bonnyrigg, perhaps about under 11’s or 12’s around 1990, we were told to be at the King George V park for training one night which was going to be a penalty shoot out comp and Andy Goram was going to be in goals. Nobody believed he would turn up. Well he did and not only did he go in goals for two rounds of 5 each for each player, it was only meant to be 1 round of 5 each, he stayed behind after and saved every penalty from all the kids in the crowd that gathered to watch him that evening.

An absolute gent of a guy that evening and he tried his all at every penalty and the few that were scored, he was raging with himself. Such a competitor.

RIP The Goalie

Without doubt the best keeper I’ve seen for us . Had he played with us during the Mowbray era , we would have won some silverware.

Exactly how I see it.

A bit daft at times, a bit easily led but almost all the people I know who know him speak highly of him.
RIP Andy Goram, it was both a privilege and an honour to have watched you play, and to have met you in person.

The finest goalkeeper Scotland has ever had.

Yes it would have been Andy Rhodes, both from same area of England and very good pals. Andy Rhodes was probably with the Pars at that time.

If anybody was watching the BBC Scotland article about his funeral tonight it would have been hard to work out that he did play for clubs other than Rangers. It was all about Rangers, past and present, and mentioned Rangers past players who were at the funeral too. I hope there was some sort of Hibs representation there, he was an important and valuable player for Hibs too. Poor show from the BBC, but not in the least surprising.

I wouldn't wish cancer on anybody, both my parents succumbed to it fairly recently, but I'll have fond memories of when Goram was at Hibs, he was the best Scottish keeper I've ever seen.

Agree with you mate. The BBC Scotland coverage was more about Rangers than Andy himself. He actually played more games for Oldham than Rangers and not that many fewer for Hibs, but not a mention of any part of his career other than Rangers.

Tells you all you need to know about BBC Scotland.

He was a great goalie but how he attached himself to the worst elements of Rangers "culture" says a lot about his character.

I’m not sure it does actually unless you mean he naturally responded positively and non-judgementally to people that were friendly towards him and was at worst a bit naive.

Well he wanted to come and see his friends at Linlithgow Cricket Club and watch for a while but he couldn’t and that wasn’t mentioned either and he loved his time at Hibs and never had a bad word to say about us.

Can we just leave it as a justified criticism of BBC Scotland’s bias and laziness.

What is wrong with some of the young Hibs fans? Goram played for Hibs, but here they are mocking his death before today’s match. I wish these boys would become the bhoys they clearly wish they were, join the Parkhead season ticket waiting list, and never darken Easter Road again.

Agree entirely.

Honestly, this sort of behaviour just depresses me and really diminishes any enthusiasm I have for the new season. No doubt everyone we come up against at Easter Road will be “PEEDOS” in the eyes of these intellectually challenged youngsters. I really hope Hibs do take a zero tolerance approach to this stuff.

Considering that (I'm assuming) that's his full name in his Twitter name it shouldn't be that difficult for Hibs to identify him.
