I hope you're right S93, this type of comment gets posted a lot for home games but without having stats handy our better home performances happen when he starts. Too often we put out an attacking team but the opposition dominate the midfield.

Despite Gogic being brilliant lately I also would have picked Newell today.

Really like the look of that team and excellent options from the bench.

No excuses today.

Also don’t think Hamilton are as physical in midfield this season as before. The front 2 for them are in good form though and probably cause problems for us .

You can never be certain what a result will be but if you are honest and say what you see you should be right 8 times out of every ten.
What I see now is a good and balanced Hibs team all over the pitch.
Hamilton will graft but they face a Hibs team with rock solid centre halves, a powerful running midfield with the unpredictable hard to stop Murphy on the wing and a focused Boyle waiting to latch onto a through ball from Irvine, Newell or Murphy whilst Doidge annoys the hell out of them at both ends of the pitch.
It's taken us a couple of years but all things being equal I think Hibs have at last put a very good team together with the lack of power and legs in midfield finally put right.
They won't be roughed up or derailed by Hamilton.
Hibs win today if we score a goal and 3rd place is nailed on.

For me, Newell's ball retention and techincal abililty will be more important for us dominating the midfield today than Gogic's physicality.

Hamilton pressed Rangers really well high up the pitch - Gogic struggles playing against teams that do that as he can't really move the ball on when receiving it on the half turn, whereas Newell is excellent at taking the ball from the defenders and playing through the press.
