They weren’t really negated in that they had five or six clear cut chances between them. Their finishing was just really poor.
I think a big problem for us is that if they have an off day, like they did yesterday, we don’t have enough goals in the rest of the team.
I didn’t say they were negated, I said RCFC were set up to try and negate them and whether it was poor finishing, good defending or a mixture, it worked for County.

Ross County never really looked like scoring We had 26 attempts at goal I think it was and some really good goal scoring chances
One goal would possibly have won the game
I think we are entitled to be disappointed
Doidge said when he signed he goes through scoring patches and at present he is going through one of his barren spells so sometimes managers need to just accept that and bring on a younger eager striker and give them Thier chance
Nisbet is in first season stepping up so we have to accept he will have some games where it’s not going to be his day
And Boyle is Boyle On his day capable of producing the form that saw him score two on the opening day But equally the next game he will screw shots wide when right through one on one
If he was putting those away every time he would of been away in the last Transfer Window
The biggest problem will be as we get more injuries and suspensions and possibly positive Covid tests
Aberdeen have good players particularly Cosgrove to come back into the team
That’s why pragmatically third is going to be difficult to achieve The next Transfer window could be crucial but with no fans back in stadium s by then you wonder which clubs may have to sell a key asset at that point

I definitely think some perspective is needed. Yes, it would be fantastic to go and get 3rd this season but 4th isn't some disaster if that's where we end up. I think we'll finish top 4 and at least challenge for 3rd.
Ross hasn't been here a year yet and we've shown clear improvement. Probably not as much as some would like but considering the state of things, we've done really well in signing players and getting results.

Agree with every word of this. We are slowly but surely moving the right way under the current management team and there is still plenty of room for improvement.
If we win the semi final then that will really shake things up.

What we learned?
Make no mistake, this was a major let-off for County. Though they had a settled patch in the second part of the first half, they were up against the ropes for the majority of the contest.
Only a mixture of poor finishing by Hibs and Doohan's outstanding performance earned them this point after they were cut open time and time again.
For the visitors, frustration will be the overriding feeling, but there were plenty of positives to take. Newell was once again outstanding in midfield and, on another day, this could have been a rout.
But there is no doubt Ross will look at this as two points dropped in the hunt for European football.

Even Kettlewell admitted his team got a very good result.

Sensible words but football teaches you that you’ve got to grab the opportunity when it presents itself. I think we’re capable and less than 3rd will be a disappointment.
All credit to Jack Ross though, I like him a lot.

The frustrating thing for me is I've seen this time and time again. Said it during the match day thread that I've seen this story played out before and that was 20 mins in. We need to take our chances when we're dominating. It's been the scourge of this club for years. I was fully expecting us to lose a late deflected goal. In fairness we have usually put teams away this season I'm maybe being a bit harsh.

Interesting stats from a website I subscribe to:
Hibernian’s 28 away shots has only been bettered on 12 occasions in the English/Scottish leagues since 2007. It was with some irony that they failed to score.
The only other team that failed to score on the back of so many shots was Brentford at Sheffield Utd in March 2019.
Bournemouth converted 28 shots into 8 goals at Birmingham on 25th October 2014 whilst Doncaster Rovers converted 31 shots into 7 goals at Southend in October 2019.

You have days like that, the worry would be not creating chances. We very rarely don’t score. I thought we played fairly well until the finish, it was an open game and we still rarely looked like conceding. Our front three all had an off day on the same day which is very rare.
