It was seated for my first game in December 72.

The covered terracing had not been converted to seating when that game was played.
Could be right ..My Memory of the game is certainly from behind the goals..recall it seated, but may not have been ...mainly as I don’t really have any memories of standing behind that goal - however , I do recall being excited about the new seated option ...so must have at some point ...

Like others I was absolutely hooked as a 4 year old when I saw Hibs running out on a dark day with the floodlights on. Those beautiful, classic strips, just looked so good and I couldn't get that out of my head and have been pretty obsessed by Hibs ever since. We should make it compulsory that any Hibby who has a kid should take them to a night game at ER. Get them brainwashed early is my view

One of Erich’s rare goals. A 25 yarder if I remember correctly. We won every round to the final 2-0 ( after 1-1 in the semi) and it was supposed to be an good omen as we had done the same on our way to lifting the trophy in 1902.

I noticed Bobby Combe was playing left wing against Partick-probably Willie suffering one of his three leg breaks.Because Combe could play practically anywhere he invariably moved forward from left half. This was a bit of a double edged sword because many good reserve forwards never got a real chance to progress .Hibs title winning teams used very few players but it meant that when they started to fade out suitable replacements were thin on the ground.

Quite possibly but I don't really recall it. My memory is of Alan Gordon scoring early, first 10 mins and right in front of us, then Shades scoring in 2nd half. Possibly the confidence of youth but I don't really remember us being under pressure at any time.

You are correct Eddie Turnbull moved Pat Stanton into defence for the last quarter of the match to lock the back door

1965: The 'Cowshed' is opened in the North Terrace
In 1965, Easter Road boasted a new covered enclosure in the North Terrace, the structure becoming affectionately known as the 'Cowshed'. The enclosure stood behind the goals at the end of the ground that now houses the Famous Five Stand.
Hamilton Academical arrived at Easter Road on Saturday 6th November 1965 as the first visiting team to play with the new addition at Easter Road. The formal opening of the enclosure was celebrated in style, Hibernian securing their biggest League victory to date by thumping Accies 11-1. It was a monumental day, with the goals spread between Eric Stevenson (3), Jimmy O'Rourke (2), Jim Scott (2), Peter Cormack, Davy Hogg, Joe Davis and an own goal. Stan Anderson netted the Accies consolation.
With the exception of the 'Cowshed', Easter Road Stadium went largely unchanged throughout the 1960s and 1970s, with further major development to the ground not coming until the 1980s.
I can recall that end being converted back to uncovered when the roof blew off in the early 1990s.

Malloy reappeared for the second half and when play recommenced Clyde looked to be content to hold what they had.
The Hibernians piled forward in numbers throwing caution to the wind with all the fighting spirit of the old Irish brigades as if defeat was out of the question
Rab Walls got his second and new boy JJ Smith got a double to tie the tie 4-4

I still remember the battles in the cooshed, as a young teen being crushed down at the front and a big cop dragging me out to wander around the pitch, sure it was Ronnie Simpson trying to shepherd us off the park, he was told to f off on more than one occassion. it was a terrible tackle on a fantastic player with so much potential, Highes was always a big dirty sellick bassa. As ever they got away wi it. That crowd was in fact a little bit smaller than normal, they were usually over 40,000 and they did have a pretty good side, the bassa's.

Wondering who else they could be. Guessing Jimmy Bone and John Hansen were two of the players.
Turnbull should have signed Rough and kept the change for George Stewart instead of the Barrel. Might have won the league then.

We know how that worked out!!
2-0 at home to Aridrie in the 4th round and then 2-0 at home to Aberdeen in the QF. I think 25k vs Aberdeen when Scotland were playing in the 5 nations at the same time. Was at all the Scottish cup games as a 14 year old that season

A seesaw game and a dagger through Pat Fenlon’s heart and HIBS’ survival hopes
Lee Croft opened the scoring for Saints on his debut with an 18 yard finish on the half hour
HIBS had to wait until the 70th minute to equalise when Leigh Griffiths was pushed in the box and duly picked himself up and dusted himself down to convert the award
Saints regained the lead shortly after when the ever dangerous Liam Craig dispossessed Stephens and scored with ease
Griffiths hit the bar with a header from an Eoin Doyle cross before Calum Booth showed him how it should be done when he curled a beauty past Enckelman to score what HIBS thought was a share of the points
With the clock ticking down Sandaza received a cross from the left swivelled in the box and squeezed a pinpoint shot past Brown to seal all three points

A corner kick from Ormond was delivered to the back post Gordon Smith controlled the ball with his first touch before sending it crashing into the net off the underside of the bar from an impossible angle

In the game that St J won 3 2 at ER as you say Lee Croft scored their 1st. It came from a Saints break when a midfield player ran into space & David Stephens backed off & off & off. Finally Paul Hanlon ran out past Stephens & threw himself in front of the shot. It was a magnificent block but unfortunately the ball broke to Lee Croft who scored. FFS Hanlon said the guy next to me. Plus ca change! 😁
Wondering who else they could be. Guessing Jimmy Bone and John Hansen were two of the players.
Turnbull should have signed Rough and kept the change for George Stewart instead of the Barrel. Might have won the league then.

Vivid memories of the Meadowbank game. Well not actually of the game, more the fact that I had to leave early as I was puking rings round myself at the back of the terrace. For once it wasn't booze induced as I was only eleven at the time!!! Jambos had poisoned the pies!
My first game at Tynie, aged 8. Remember having to stand on my toes to see the game and I was very excited to see George Best in action.

John Hughes’ HIBS side were Championship contenders as they made the journey along the M8
Dejavu must have set in for the HIBS fans as Marc-Antoine Fortune gave Celtic the lead in 5 minutes following a Caddis corner
Talisman Anthony Stokes equalised for HIBS after 25 minutes when he flicked home a Derek Riordan corner
After that it was pretty much backs to the wall with Chris Hogg and Ian Murray orchestrating the HIBS defence and ex Celt Liam Miller pulling the strings in midfield
Just when it looked as though things were going to fizzle out for a draw Anthony Stokes shocked Tony Mowbray’s troops in the last minute when he sprung the offside trap on the counterattack threading the perfect ball through to substitute Danny Galbraith on the left hand side of the Celtic box who drilled an unstoppable drive low into Artur Boruc’s bottom left hand corner

The Clydebank"thing" happened before 1968. To be honest I had forgotten all about that. Seemingly although Clydebank "stole" their identity the original club was never disbanded. It appears to be like us when we stopped for a season and got playing again.
To be clear it is different to Sevco who were liquidated and died, dead, defunct.

I was at that replay at East End Park in '81 with my Dad.
I mentioned previously how low the crowd was at the first game at ER and I'm sure there was about 2-3k more at this one.
Strangely, it was quite common then to play in front of poor crowds at ER but pretty decent attendances, with a big travelling Hibs support, when we played the same teams away from home.

Quite similar maybe with what we see with Kilmarnock in recent times. Poor home attendances but a very good away support. They must have a high percentage of their home support attending away games, where by contrast, despite our home attendances rising quite considerably over the years our travelling support hasn’t really changed in size over time. If anything it’s smaller than what it once was.

Think that Clyde game was at Firhill. Absolutely Baltic. Also think it was Miller's first goal for Hibs - a cross-cum-shot (to be generous) that deceived the keeper.
Edit: 1991 Clyde game obviouslyI was at this game in 1991 at Firhill. Yes, it was utterly Baltic.
Parked the car near Ruchill Park (the place where Chic Charnley chased some locals brandishing swords) and after the game we were treated to some Ruchill/Possilpark hospitality as locals lobbed stones from the houses.

HIBS squandered chance after chance in this game and this came back to bite us on the bum when ex jambo pantomime villain Christian Nade popped up in the 93rd minute to fire home the equaliser
I'd given up my season ticket a number of years earlier and hadn't been back due to real life priorities. Then Hibs announced a share issue but only to those fans on the database, and this was the game I picked to buy a ticket so that I was eligible. Despite the ending, I attended a few more games for a couple of seasons when time permitted, before finally cracking and getting another season ticket.
Can't escape being a Hibs fan

Hibernian 4 v 0 Brechin City

Hibs cruised into the Scottish Cup Quarterfinals with a comfortable win over Brechin City
A deflected shot from Boozy hit the post before Sam Morrow curled a beauty past Craig Nelson from 16 yards HIBS further increased their lead when Garry O’Connor fired home a Derek Riordan cross eight minutes later
Into the second half and HIBS secured their place in the quarterfinals when Dean Shiels sent O’Connor scampering through the middle and despite a poor first touch was able to recover and slide the ball under the advancing Nelson
Six minutes later and Gary Caldwell put the icing on the cake when following a short corner his looping header from a Riordan cross deceived Nelson and his defence sneaking in at the far post

After knocking out Celtic injury ravaged HIBS were up against it against Rangers at rain lashed Hampden Park
Rangers started the better and after 27 minutes Daniel Andersson upended Ronald De Boer in the penalty box but he quickly redeemed himself with a fine one handed save from Arteta’s spot kick
Rangers were not to be denied however and Michael Mols swept Rangers into the lead just before half-time from 15 yards after a defence splitting pass from Ross
Into the second half and play raged from end to end Hibs brought on Stephen Dobbie with 13 minutes to go and he equalised within a minute latching on to a Derek Riordan pass and lashing the ball home from 12 yards
HIBS were galvanised as they went for the kill Fernando Ricksen was lucky to escape punishment when he elbowed Riordan in the face and Garry O’Connor had a decent claim for a penalty waved away
HIBS pushed forward in the first period of extra time but could not prise open the Rangers defence Into the second period and HIBS survived two mass scrambles in their own box with goal hero Dobbie booting a ball off the goalline
Onto penalties and both keepers had two fine saves apiece with Averladze blazing over the crossbar and Mattius Doumbe hitting the woodwork
With the scores at 3-3 Colin Murdock tucked away his kick and Frank De Boer hit the post cue celebrations among the 7000 rain soaked HIBS fans

The cup tie against Third Lanark was played just before they folded. I seem to have a recollection that there was a small band of Thirds fans at the Dunbar end with placards each with a different letter spelling Thirds.
Anyone else of a certain age remember this or is it nonsense?

I'm sure there was more than that at the '91 semi final, though. It probably just seemed less because we were so widely spread out on the terrace that night.

Hibs would win their next League match against Ross County but would not win another game until their first leg Premier Play-Off game at Hamilton
I remember bemoaning the lack of that one victory that would have saved Hibs from the play-off for months. But that would have papered over the cracks and possibly kept Butcher in a job (although I'm sure Dempster would have made the same decision even if the Hamilton play-off never happened).
Hard point to make, but in hindsight it was possibly for the best. 😮

Thing I most recall of that disaster of a cup tie against Raith Rover was the look on Calum Booths face who was on loan at Raith Roves that day.It was a mixture of “TF I’m not playing for these no hopers” and “how bad am I that I can’t get a game here.
Always liked Booth, but he was another in the long list of young players at ER whose potential was never realised.Appears to now have a gig at St Johnstone as an unused sub.

Booth played well that day. It was bizarre that he was allowed to play at all.
The 7-0 Livi game. I remember it as unbelievably cold. We sat in the Famous Five, in the padded seats. Almost unbearable.

A grandad and his young grandson were sitting next to me. It was the young lads first game. At the end of the game the wee one said,"Can I come again?"
All the goals had made him forget the cold.

I'm sure that Mickey Weir winning goal v Aberdeen was a header at the back post! Vaguely remember it through the copious amounts of alcohol usually consumed on the way to Pittodrie. 6am start in the pub in Alloa and a stop at a wee place called Fordoun for a bar lunch and a pool and darts competition. That's also how I remember it. Header in the 90th minute. Aberdeen sacked Alex Smith as manager a couple of days later.

102342 fans fillied Ibrox to watch this intriguing battle of Rangers’ Iron Curtain Defence versus the imperious Famous Five
Simpson gave the Scottish Cup holders an early lead and Rangers retreated into their shell putting up their defensive wall
This enabled HIBS who had got off to a nervous start to find their rhythm and get their passing game together HIBS equalised just before half-time when Gordon Smith met an Ormond cross on the volley and the ball fairly flew into the Rangers net
Into the second half and HIBS obviously hadn’t learned their lesson from the first half when Simpson scored his and Rangers’ second
Fatally Rangers reverted to type and flooded their defence
HIBS were known for their flexibility and imagination and took the game by the scruff of the neck
Eddie Turnbull equalised with one of his cannonball specials and Rangers now found themselves in a quandary do they stick or twist? Problem was they were now pinned back into their own half unable to get out as the green and white jerseys swarmed around their box
With nine minutes to go HIBS sealed their win
Hibs had a freekick outside the Rangers box Rangers put up a nine man wall Eddie Turnbull lined up for a thunderbolt but he played the ball short to Willie Ormond who quickly passed it to Johnstone who fired home from a tight angle

The sensation of the Peebles game was that Willie Ormond scored an absolute rasper with a right foot shot.An old guy standing beside me claimed he’d never seen him kick the ball with his right foot never mind score.

Celtic 2 v 2 Hibernian
McGinlay 29
McGraw 80
https://youtu.be/20yNTYTaBgM
This game was played at a sodden Hampden Park as Celtic Park was undergoing renovations
Celtic took the lead when Celtic Captain John Collins fired home after 5 minutes.
Jim Leighton thought he had saved the initial attempt but he didn’t get enough on it and watched in agony as it clipped the post on the way in
Hibs equalised when last season’s Celtic FC top scorer Pat McGinlay a £425000 signing in November fired home past Pat Bonnar.
A goal he celebrated by giving Celtic Manager Tommy Burns a long satisfied stare
Celtic were struggling with Kevin Harper’s pace the young striker taking up good position but squandering any chances that came his way
Celtic took the lead early into the second half when Willie Falconer expertly headed home a John Collins cross giving Jim Leighton no chance
Hibs replaced Joe Tortolano with Mark McGraw with ten minutes to go and this change brought immediate rewards when the young striker fired home from the edge of the box past the unsighted Bonnar following a HIBS corner
At the final whistle the players left the field of play to the sound of Hibees! Hibees! ringing in their ears

Also, Jock Brown interviews John Collins about Celtc, then 20 seconds into interviewing Jim Leighton about Hibs, he asks him about Celtc!!! Plus ca change!! Hibernian 2 v 1 Dumbarton
Montgomery
Groves
Green shirted Hibernian were first onto the park led by their captain James McGhee and they received a rapturous welcome while Dumbarton in their blue and white striped jerseys were politely welcomed by their supporters who only numbered a few thousand
Hibernian won the toss booked the wind and Dumbarton kicked off on a slippery surface which was very hard underneath Play swung from end to end with defences on top When the forwards did get a chance their shooting was wild and the goalkeepers had very few saves to make Near the end of the first half play became rough and the Referee was kept busy
Play continued in a similar fashion in the second half up until the 60th minute when Aitken put Dumbarton ahead with an unsaveable shot after which they used spoiling tactics to try and hold on to their lead This was a mistake as the Irish crowd roared Hibernian on to one of their famous fight-backs
The forwards responded with some brilliant play and a strong run and angled shot from Phil Clarke which Dumbarton’s international goalkeeper could not hold allowed James Montgomery to follow through and fire home the equaliser
The green Jerseys now went all out for the winner and dominated the game with their strength and skill Following a Dumbarton corner the defence cleverly played the ball to Paddy Lafferty who fed Willie Groves and went on a decoy run down the right wing ‘Darling’ Willie Groves then went on one of his famous mazy dribbling runs that took him right into the heart of the Dumbarton defence and he coolly hit the ball home while Dumbarton vainly tried to claim offside
The celebrating on the terraces was wild For the last ten minutes of the game the noise was indescribable and when the final whistle went the Hibernian players were carried off the field of play shoulder high
There was an air of disbelief about what had just happened Hibernian had done the impossible and had won the greatest prize in Scottish football The poor team from Edinburgh’s Irish neighbourhood had actually won the Scottish Cup

Giving away a penalty at Ibrox in the last few minutes especially when the Referee has already awarded a penalty to the opposition looks mighty suspicious no ?
His birthday today met an untimely end IIRC

I was in the The Rangers end for the game that Lewis scored that belter. Courtesy of complementary tickets. We were right behind the director's box. Fortunately their fans were revolting 🤮at the time and left after 20 minutes or so in protest at the board.
Couldn't help but jump up when the second goal went in. Lucky man.
I alway find their fans revolting 🤮 😉😁
