Good 2nd half, nice to see a manager make changes when needed. Newell and Horgan very good better tempo, Omeonga very good and will only get better.

Joe Newell can defo be a player for us

He needs to show the same level of urgency and responsibility when he plays

Impressed massively tonight

I'm still not sure what his best position is. Definitely not a winger. I'm not sure he'd be suitable longterm to a middle two and I'm not a big fan of the diamond as it exposes our flanks. I'm glad he's finding form though as that left foot is a wand.

Naismith laid 1 on a plate for him and he fell on his erse trying to shoot :lolyam:

He wiz maybe trying to ingratiate himself with his new team-mates by diving in the hope of getting a penalty ??

Big improvement when JR brought on Newell, Omeonga and Horgan who all played miles better than the players they replaced. Well done to the manager and the subs.

Horgan and Newell changed the game. 3 points in the bag. Plenty of work still to be done. Hearts are still *****.

Well done Hibs and well done Paul Hanlon 👏👏👏 The lads taken a fair bit of stick of late but he’s stuck at it. #Legend

This was you only a couple of days ago.

"I don’t know about anyone else but I’ve had about enough as I can take watching the likes of Stevenson, Hanlon and Gray.

Ye ye I know they are club legends blah blah but can anyone hand on heart say that they aren’t past their best?

We need better defenders. Surely next season will bring a fresh new look to our defence with at least three new players replacing the current lot".

Great turnaround 2nd half but what is going on with Kamberi?? Awful tonight and really am starting to lose patience with him. On the positive the 3 subs made a massive difference and Slivkas time is deffo coming to an end he was abysmal in that 1st half

Also thought he was poor, he's just that kind of player, 1 good game then 2 bad.

It's quite a worry. Our slide towards relegation, as professed by Kickback, is set to start any day now. We only increased our lead over Hearts by 2 points tonight.

Newell changed the game for us. He was playing well before he was injured and picked up from where he left off

I thought he was terrible for an hour but showed real spirit and bottle to turn his performance around and was very good later in the game.

He’s not known for turning poor performances around, he has a tendency to let his head go down.

Credit where it’s due, he helped drag us back into the game.

Last week the return of Uche and Washington was going to be the start of special things. Tonight they aren't good enough and need replaced.

Comedy Kickback.

Credit where it’s dud, he helped drag us back into the game.

Also the formation change helped his game, he is better more central and shows he can link up better in there. Not a fan of him stuck out wide left.

100% this. The substitutions tonight to change the game were excellent but I felt an equally big contributing factor was the change of formation and the return to the 442.
Until Kamberi was moved central Doidge looked completely isolated - also, as you mentioned Flo looks out of sorts being stuck out wide.

As Craig said I think the upturn in his performance coinciding with him being moved central was no coincidence.
I really don't think he's suited to playing out wide.

Really pleased with the comeback, certainly gives Jack Ross credit by turning things around with bold substitutes made early enough to affect things.
Important we get some momentum and win the replay, gives a good cushion to 7th and Aberdeen losing is decent too as it pulls 4th a little nearer, its got to be driven into the squad that's our target.
Good character and that's worth a lot, Hearts are a good example that it's not easy once you've lost confidence to pull out these results. Don't care they gained a point on relegation rivals its all about us and we've got double their points so that's what we've got to keep building on.

Been floored with the flu last few days and missed my first match at ER this season tonight.

Have now read through whole thread and sounds like a ‘night and day’ performance tonight.
Raising a glass of lucozade and popping a couple of paracetamol in celebration for the result.
Feel 50% better than I did a few hours ago. :greengrin

That’s the thing a 442 suits Doidge no ends think back to the first half how many times was he out in the wide channels, went down the wing a few times losing the ball as couldn’t get past a player. Second half playing between the lines of the penalty box he was far better imo.

If ever there was a Doidge goal it was tonight lol

The energy of Omeonga is what we’ve been missing. He will make loads of mistakes but won’t stop trying his heart out.

Agree with this, I said as much when he lost the ball his first thought was to burst a gut to try get it back, compared to our other midfielders they don’t seem to have that desire enough

Its a great result considering the performance wasnt up to much. Will need to improve dramatically for motherwell or theyll run all over the top of us. If we dont have a DM in by then i fear it will cost us

Kamberi and Horgan are possibly the 2 most inconsistent players I've ever seen in a Hibs jersey and I've been going to games since 1966.

It’s all you need in this league. A wee bit desire and you will win the majority of games.

I think we will see Bogdan in for the next game. Defence were not happy with him at all for the goal, and they aren’t happy using him as an out ball when under pressure.

I'm just in, haven't read the rest of the thread, but despite the win that performance was totally unacceptable. The second half was an improvement in terms of effort, although the quality was still mostly honking. The first half was like a bad dream.

Any decent team would have torn us to shreds tonight.

You could add Scott Allan to that list.

Absolutely nothing came off for him tonight, if I’m being honest that was a truly dreadful performance.

On another day he’s sublime.

Mallan similar.

I learnt nothing new about our side after this game: we remain an inconsistent, bitty, average mid-table side that will win one, lose one and draw one.
We are still a long way off being a solid, hard-to-beat and entertaining side challenging for 3rd spot.
This said, well done Jack Ross for changing things early and for our boys sneaking a late win.

I think the players deserve credit for turning a woeful performance into a win but we shouldn’t sugar coat how bad we were for more than half the game.

Lessons need to be learned and a few people need to buck up their ideas, otherwise as you say we’ll be regularly picked off playing like that against better teams.

Thought it was Joe Newell’s energy that lifted is more than Omeonga. Tried and had a few nice touches but looked a fair bit off it which you’d kind of expect.

I think Scott isn't even inconsistent now, he's simply miles off it. Don't know what will sort it but he can't start on Saturday surely.

Jack Ross got the formation all wrong to start. I’ve never seen Kamberi have a decent game playing on that left side of midfield and the amount of times Hamilton broke on us and we had 4 men just watching from the half way line was worrying.

Fair play realised his mistakes and fixed it early enough to give the team a chance but please don’t go with that team/selection again.

I’m not sure that Ross is sold on Allan yet and I don’t know how long till we see a starting XI that doesn’t include him, can’t be too far away. Thought Newell was excellent and Horgan had the right back worried all game long. Much better second half and probably should’ve had a couple more, with Kamberi and Horgan both missing a couple easy enough chances.

On a lighter note how on earth did the referee only add on 2 minutes after booking their keeper for time wasting. Worked in our favour but was a strange one considering circumstances.

Onwards and upwards, another 3 points in the bag and if we win on Saturday then Motherwell and Aberdeen are starting to look catchable
