As a long term Oz fitba follower, I agree.

In fact I think technically, it’s of a higher standard than the SPFL, but as pointed out, is certainly slower.

Jamie Mac was/is a star here partly due to the absence of very close marking by defenders, which is certainly nothing near like what happens in Scotland.

Fitba changed in Oz in 2005 when the A League kicked off in place of the old NSL, and while there have been many benefits off the pitch, many of us from the older generation believe that the standard of player being produced is not like it was pre A League days.

Revenge would be nice, but Glory haven't really clicked yet this season, so not feeling very confident. We seriously miss Jason Davidson at left wingback and, to a slightly lesser extent, Matt Spiranovic at centre half. They brought the ball forward out of defence really well and allowed us to build attacks from the back. The Castro/Ikonomidis/Fornarolli forward line should rip A league defences apart, but ball movement forward has been a bit too slow and deliberate so far. Hopefully all change tonight and we stick a few past one half of the Ozzy Ugly Sisters :greengrin

I suspect it’s because of the very fluid/logistical circumstances with closed borders and games rearranged at short notice.

Yep the play off for the championship is an Australian thing that goes across ALL football codes..ie Aussie Rules, Rugby League and fitba.

It looks like 11 teams is new this season – 27 games and playing everyone three times refers to previous seasons with 10 teams (and so those numbers make sense).

I'm damned if I can figure out this season's format though, Wiki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019%E2%80%9320_A-League) says this: "The regular season commenced on 11 October 2019 and was scheduled to conclude on 26 April 2020, with 29 rounds where each team will play 26 matches and have 3 byes to account for the odd number of teams."

26 games means play everyone twice, then play six teams a third time? How is it decided who you do and don't play?

Not sure of the standard in the A-League, but that's a pretty decent strike rate. Pleased for him that his injury issues are behind him, there's not been that many Hibs hat tricks v the Huns, so he's in elite company.
