I’d rather risk £300 now over waiting on the result of our 1st round tie and paying closer to £600

Fortune favours the brave. If I do lose that £300, most of it will be covered from the savings I made by booking Copenhagen early in 2016.

Thats because doughnuts keep searching them without clearing their internet cache or browsing privately.

I don't follow - people searching for flights from Edinburgh to Athens rather give the game away that they are looking for flights from Edinburgh to Athens - no?

And if there are lots of such searches then it rather tips them off to raise their prices - for anonymous or public searchers alike.

There is 26 seeded places. In the list on the wiki article 20 are already determined.

From the TBD section, Copenhagen, Maribor, Tel-Aviv, Partizan, Molde and Limassol all have coefficients higher than Tripolis and therefore the winners of their ties will be seeded taking the total seeds to 26.

The link I provided sets this all out a lot clearer than wiki does.

Seen a few people mention a Hellenic Railways train from Athens to Tripoli. As far as I can see this train no longer exists – the Hellenic Railways site (https://tickets.trainose.gr/dromologia/) doesn't have Tripoli as a destination, and Wiki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tripoli,_Greece#Transportation) says trains on that route stopped in 2010.

The transport options I can see are hiring a car or getting the bus (takes about 3 hours, runs hourly).

I'll be on the bus. :aok:

My friend says about a 2hr-3hr drive from Athens. Used to be a "hard drive" but it's now on newly built road so alot less stressful. Not sure about a train but suspect that you would have to go into Athens main station to head out again and that could take 4-5hrs all in.

The money obviously helps them, but the likes of them an Bournemouth deserve a bit of credit for what they’ve done in that league IMO. They will be spending a hell of a lot less than a lot of the teams they are beating and seem to do things the right way.

Admittedly it would be good for the SPFL to get one over on the best league in the world.

It’s not really though. Same goes for loads of clubs down there - Bournemouth, Huddersfield etc.

SSN the other day were talking seriously about how a player was really looking forward to joining Huddersfield for many millions. He chose to leave Monaco due to the lure of Huddersfield.

Nothing to do with money - just the promised land of Huddersfield.

im being positive despite the names in the hat,
I was impressed with what lennon did with such little time, against brondby, who were fit, in mid season barring a GK error we could have went through, and that brondby side went on to do well in the group stages,
that was with an inherited squad Now he has had the time to build his own team, I am really looking forward to seeing how well he can get the lads to produce on the big stage,

put it this way,,,must be better than playing friendlies in a half bult stadium! :cb

my apologies , sure they got to the last knockout, I remember being impressed by them in the next matches, need to check who they played, but aye, for a squad you have just inherited, they played well, could have been a few playinf for a contract granted, when the new manager comes in

You’ve got to look at it case by case. Yes Burnley itself is relatively small but they draw support from all of the smaller towns and villages around them, even in to North Yorkshire, and it’s one of the few places in England if not the entire UK where the local club shirts vastly outnumber Man Itd, Liverpool and the like. And I say that as someone who’s been singing “Chim chiminey, chim chiminey, chim chim cher-oo” for the last 20 odd years.

Rangers v Leeds - Rangers went through
Celtic v Blackburn - Celic went through
Celtic v Liverpool - Liverpool went through but close
Celtic v Liverpool - Celtic went through
Rangers v Man United - Man United win but close
Celtic v Man United - Celtic win at home
Hearts v Spurs - Pumped at the PBS, draw in London
Hearts v Liverpool - Narrow defeat at PBS draw in Liverpool (i think)

I sincerely hope Aberdeen win the tie. They'll be a week ahead in training too so may catch Burnley cold. Great tie though.

The financial gap is huge. Burnley turned over £121m to Aberdeen's £15m to June 2017, and presumably that gap widened last year. The spending power they have over Aberdeen should make it a dead cert, but I'm not convinced it will be.

I hope Aberdeen do well, at least holding their own. I think they've an outside chance too. I much prefer our draw, but a chance to have a swipe at one of the English premiership teams would also have been good.

Apologies if it's already been covered, but how long is Lennon's European match ban following the Brondby game? Will he be back on the touchline for first round away game?

5 match ban, so having served 1 match away to Brondby he will be in the stands for all our 1st and 2nd round ties assuming we progress.

Are these paid out each round, or do you just get the final stage you get to? And are these for getting there, or for winning at that level?

I.e. if we beat the Faroe islands team and lose to the Greek team, would we get 240k, 260k, or 500k? (My interpretation would be 500k, but I'm not sure).

This shows how big the group stages would be and why that is Hibs long term ambition to get there.

I'm sure it's per round and for getting there.

:aok:

Ideal.

I assume there's no chance of these games being televised? I'm sure the dnipro away game was on BBC, but I don't remember any being televised since.

5 match ban, so having served 1 match away to Brondby he will be in the stands for all our 1st and 2nd round ties assuming we progress.

His ban was in addition to being in the stand for the Brondby second leg.

He initially got a 5 match ban, Hibs appealed it and it was subsequently reduced to 4 matches.

He'll therefore be in the stand for both games against Runavik and if we get through, he'll also be in the stand for both games against Tripolis.

He'll be back for the 3rd qualifying round though. :greengrin

The Brondby away leg was shown on Premier Sports.

The Brondby away leg was shown on Premier Sports.

This time it will clash with Burnley v Aberdeen so I'd say it's less likely to be on TV.
