View Full Version : Match Updates Hearts 2 - 2 Hibernian (Cummings, Hanlon) FT (goes to replay)
Stubbs is wrecking my head with his unwillingness to introduce a 3rd striker....
Was just wondering if I had missed a sub.... Surely we need to just go for it now

Fair play to Thomson, awful first half out of position but second half him and Bartley were both great in the middle. I've been a huge critic of Bartley for not imposing himself on games enough but he was more than up for the fight today.
Without being as spectacular as the strikes for Hearts goals, two great finishes as well for us, particularly Cummings.

I was a bit despondent with the midfield in the 1st half but that same midfield in the second half showed a lot of spirit to get back into the game and credit where credit due.

And Paterson should have been booked when bringing down Bartley in first half which would have ruled him out of replay.

but Thomson never best man on the park.
Funny how we all see things differently. KT bossed that game, absolutely strolled it and the Yam midfield couldn't get near him.
He changed the game for me, best player in the park. And I did not expect that!

Don't think anyone is defending him but with his previous we all expected him to do his usual cheating in some way, yes they had a lot of fouls but it's a hard fought derby game and you'd expect that, just no real dodgy game changing decisions for a change by him.

McGeouch looked like a groin tweak, don't think it was due to a challenge but just the way he turned.
He seems prone to injury And with Fyfie already sidelined And other injuries we have it shows we now have a squad that can cope with this .
But we can't really afford any more with replays cup final and the other Morton game rearranged all looming on top of league fixtures .

Initially completely forgot that it was an early kick off, got to Stansted for flight home, check the BBC for some team news, and find that we're 2-0 down after 60 mins, I'll admit that having seen that I was thinking that there wasn't much chance of us coming back from that, given our history in these games, I eventually pick up a text from Sister after going through security at the airport telling me about "what a game" it had been after having listened on the radio, lo and behold I check the Beeb and find we score two in the final 10 minutes, including an equaliser in injury time (about bloody time we got a break vs them!).
Safe to say I'm delighted, and I'm now in the bar, having a beer and toasting the Hibees! Replay a week on Tuesday, and I cannot wait!

I think the general rule is that the same officials get the replay. There was a stink up from St Mirren a few years back when the ref was changed for a replay because he had been pre-booked for a Premier League game the same night, and they got Freeland as a substitute

Just back, what a finish.
Just read through the thread. Some of you should hang your heads in shame after the hertz 2nd, too many defeatists on here, this team is a different beast.
Hearst played right into our hands in the 2nd half, they tried to kill the game, waste time, take the intensity out of the game, that's what we come up against every week in the championship, we started to play our natural game, keeping possession and building up chances, it was only going to be a matter of time for us to score and when we got one we were going to create further chances for the equalizer, which did come. Hertz's did nothing in that 2nd half, apart from the 2 very late chances and by then, it was too little too late.
They really are an odious team to watch, dirty, cheating, always fouling and blatant time wasting and what on earth was Nicholson doing by having a **** in front of the hibs support, does his burd not satisfy him?
And to finish, as my brother said, it's not the hertz fans that create the atmosphere at Tynie!

I think today demonstrated how much more character this Hibs team has than other teams of recent years. At 2-0 I was also thinking "here we go again", despite the fact there wasn't much between the teams. The second half was a superb, dominant performance; one that fully deserved the comeback. With twenty minutes to go it was clear the Hearts players had started trying to run the clock down, whereas all the initiative was coming from the Hibs players. When we got the first goal back, you could sense there was real belief in the team, and we were outplaying Hearts on their own pitch. I thought Bartley was superb at regaining possession today.
Now let's play like that again with home advantage and try to finish the job.
Excellent determination combined with good play :flag:

It's really unfair to criticise posts during the game. I bet posters on here would hate us to replicate their chat during the peak of the match when we are down 2-0.
.net is great for those who can't make it to the game and posters shouldn't feel they can't post due to criticism they will receive after the game once everyone is back behind their comfortable screens deciding who is the better fan. Everything is easier from hindsight!

For me, one team played football. One team played anti-football, despite their two good goals.

Great come back from the Cabbage.
The Hibs fans were brilliant today. At no time did I hear any negative shouts to the players and the whole second half there was almost a sense of anticipation. It was far more positive at Tynecastle than it was on the board reading back. I am not the most positive of people but this Hibs team have turn me round. They deserve trust and backing as they have earnt it.
If there is one thing I hate seeing a team doing, at any level, is letting their heads go down. This team doesn't know how to feel sorry for itself and when David Gray got subbed he could have handed the arm band to about 6 other players.
anything over 17,000 will give us the bragging rights :)

Great to hear! The one match that made me worry about this game, was the 4-2 defeat at Ibrox. The heads didn't so much go down, but the composure did. Today neither seem to have gone down, and that is superb. Its great to know that going into the replay, we won't go down with out a fight.

Disagree Em. I quite deliberately never post during a game I'm not at when we fall behind as I like to wait for the game to be really over before making comment. I think it is quite ironic that people are saying game over then calling the team bottlers. Obviously I was a rather unhappy chap at 2-0 but, same as being at the game, I am not going to start screaming and shouting how ***** we are, how ***** Stubbs tactics are, etc etc. Nice to see though that the majority have now said they appeared to have jumped the gun. 😁😁😀😊☺
