Not vintage, but good character shown, after the semi-final disappointment. We're going to take the race for second all the way; let's hope we can win our two games and make Rangers win at the PBS.

Would we have taken 1-3 before the game ?

Glad we won. Missed everything due to poor calendar management.

Job done. I really do think if we win our last two games we will be second and I think we will win them. Otherwise it will be a bit disappointing but we have done ok this season. Still a work in progress.

I'm glad we won but I just can't shake off Saturday. This is the longest a Hibs game has played on my mind since the 5-1 game. Watching Dylan buzz about the centre of the park tonight-and set up a goal after only 7 minutes-just convinces me even more that we would have won if he had been left there on Sat. Completely wasted at RWB and also sadly cost us the goal by not knowing how to defend. If only Gray had been fit [emoji25]

Tonight also convinced me more that both Malonga and Dje Dje should have been on far, far earlier on Sat as well
I'm exactly the same. Saturdays result is still hard to take

I'd have taken three points by any means.

Why not?

At this stage of the season, it's all about winning games.

How we win games is really not important.

I'm over Saturday.

I would love to see Hibs win the Scottish Cup but this season, our biggest priority by quite some distance is getting promoted back into the Premiership.

I know that was a minority view amongst Hibs fans and most people said they would rather see us win the cup than get promoted but we simply need to be back in the top league.

If we can get promoted (and at the same time leave Sevco in the second tier for another season) it will be an extremely satisfying season in my book.

This The Rangers should of been beaten there recently ,but just now it's about winning and would be nice to get a fully fit Gary back before the playoffs .Malonga now he is back scoring needs more game time Should start him against Alloa and give Farid a rest now he has played three games in a row which will have helped him build up match fitness .

I know you can sign emergency loans outside the transfer window, but i'm 55 and clearly nowhere near fit enough even for the Championship.

I'd have loved the chance though.

Yeah I wasn't entirely sure what actually happened. I just remember two of them having a chance to deal with it and not doing so.

On a positive note, Malonga looked more lively when he came on.

in fairness to fontaine the ball took a wicked bounce and the ball teed up nicely for the guy to hit a beauty. As they showed against der hun tgey are tough to play against so all in all a good three points. Even fergie houston got beat by them. Btw, houston is a dick of the highest order and hope he enjoys watching he play offs.

After the game i consoled myself with the thought that at least its over for another year and we would have lost to celtic in the final. The fact its inverness that got through and indeed the luck they got we never seem to get has made it much harder to take. Im sure
Once the play offs start it will feel better. It bloody well better or that cat which i dont have will be well and truly.

Malonga's attitude and body language is terrible. - feigned indifference when he scored as if to say I've done my job but sod it and at full time, off with top, shorts pulled down to his scrote and a slow amble off the pitch saying I'm not interested. I'll get hammered by everyone who can't see past a safe three points, but my eyes were bleeding at that and Malonga's quiet petulance is naff.

Agree that the overall performance didn't look great, but why have a go at Malonga? The guy has taken plenty of unwarranted criticism in recent weeks, and created one of the most enjoyable moments of the game.

How about Hippolyte's body language when he scored (if on another thread we are talking about Dom) ?

I thought he was strangely muted - sort of 'celebration' you see when a player scores against his old club - am I reading too much into things or may he be on Hibs radar ??

Was Oxley also doing his flying octopus impression :greengrin cracking goal has to be said but I couldn't help laughing at Ox's attempt to save it.

I think both Celtic and Inverness would beat Hibs - not easily but with a goal or two to spare. Inverness have a really good side, which has been together for a good while and have recent Hampden final experience too.

I also think Falkirk will get humped in the final - by 3 or 4 goals.

There was talk on another thread saying hibs were after him so you might be right.

Thinking about it though, was there not a story at the start of the season saying he was living with a hibs daft family? Maybe that was the reason?

Agree on no account were we in any way awful. Was a reasonable performance and on another day could have won 5-1. Pitches arent great at this time of the season and win is really all that matters especially yesterday after Saturdays disappointment.

Are you talking about the decision or the penalty itself. A truly horrific decision and a poor pen, the fact Dylan had scored one in the last game at Livi was playing on his mind I think. Good save by the keeper.

On Hibs TV Kevin Harper said that every penalty he's seen McGeouch taking has been hit to the keepr's right (this was as he was about to take last night's).

Saw the game on Hibs TV. We were far better than Livi and the 3 points were fully deserved, but this team - on this showing - won't make it through the play-offs. Better teams will cause us real problems. Thought Robertson & Fontaine had a good game, as did Stevenson. Generally, too many bad passes, uncalled for losses of possession, the usual lack of pace and guile going forward - and some players McGeouch, in particular, seem to have their minds on something else. Decent comeback away from home after the disappointment of the semi final I suppose ...

Some players could do with working on their first touch and composure. Not a complaint, just my opinion. We're playing well as a team and could be making it easier for ourselves.

IMO this part of our game is the best it's been for years.

So what. He done well on the pitch.

His footwork for the goal was reminiscent of something you'd see on a 70s dancefloor - didn't appreciate it first time round until they showed the replay - mesmerising stuff!:greengrin

Well I think that's a positive assessment of last night's performance ------------ but I could be wrong.

The penalty itself. Look to me he looked in the corner he shot in when he was placing the ball.

Players do that all the time and sometimes then put it in the other corner, just a bit of kidology. More so when Dylan had scored against the same goalie in the same goal earlier this season.
