Any updates on who is walking home tonight from the team, maybe Butcher should be walking home too. :greengrin

Maybe we will but unfortunately St. Johnstone are at hame tae Ross County, a team that has won once away from hame, so does anybody see the gap closing? And they have a game in hand (I think is against st.mirren). So unless they **** up big time I doubt it'll matter what Hibs dae now. Blew it on Saturday and blew it again tonight.
It will be extremely difficult now but it's made a little bit easier by the fact that we're playing St Johnstone in one of those remaining games. If we win that, the gap's down to one point (if it stays the way it is just now) and we would only need to pick up two more points than them over the remaining games to make the top six.
It's certainly possible but I think we'll just come up short.

Liam Craig has scored more times for us than Heffernan. Just a bit of devil's advocate there...

Quite a few should be but I think they would rather be in the team bus eating dominos pizzas that had just been delivered as we left the ground

League position unacceptable. Made even worse when you take into account Rangers and their cousins from Gorgie...
We do not merit top 6. The effort doesn't even merit top flight let alone top 6... TB has a big job to sort out, confident he'll do it though but take your pick for guys to get rid...

Liam Craig has also been on penalty duties for us this season and has also played about twice the number of matches that Heffernan has featured in this season.

:agree: Am I also right in saying Craig scored most of his goals in a position that isn't holding midfield?

We needed to win tonight to give ourselves any real fighting chance of leapfrogging St Johnston before the split. But for whatever reason, Butcher never set us out to have a real good go (against a team on very poor form).
Fans have every right to be frustrated about this. Our approach tonight never made any sense and it's not the first time it hasn't made any sense.
We started with 2 strikers and 2 attacking wide men so I'm not sure what doesn't make sense to you.
The subs were certainly surprising but how do you know we weren't set up to "have a real good go"? A very Yogi turn of phrase incidentally.
The amount of people thinking Hibs were gonna turn up and win easily is laughable, will you never learn.

Correct. Two up front supported by two attack minded wide players as well as Stanton in midfield. If that's not a positive selection then i don't know what is.
No doubt somebody who has made about 2000 posts in the last month will be along shortly to tell us otherwise.

Yep spot on Dan .Desperate times indeed  Roll on next Season .All we have left to look forward to now is celebrating Hear7s going down but you couldn't say with all honesty that we are going to turn them over so the Atmosphere and occasion is what's led to us selling out our allocation .
By the next game with them we probably will be no that bothered as it will be a meaningless game unless they are going into liquidation .

You are missing the point The two he played up front didn't play as partnership on Saturday and Hayes in my opinion had a poor game .The pro Heff posters like me are only saying if he was fit in our opinion he should of been given a longer run out to see if we could of nicked a goal and got the three points .Maybe he wouldn't of it's all if buts and maybes now We will never know as Heff wasn't given opportunity .i genuinely thought we might of pushed st Johnstone all the way for 6th so last nights results were hard to take as you wouldn't of thought United would of lost that game on current form .

:agree: When something is not working, then to continue to bash on doing the same thing is surely a little bit silly, Heffernan coming on with 25 minutes to go might not have worked, but as we all know he never got the chance.

No doubt Heffernan should have been given more time last night, and he is a player who can snap up a half chance. I can only think that TB doesn't start him because he tends to start blowing after 50 minutes - of course the counter to that is that for the 50 minutes prior to that he'll have had the chance to make an impact.
Can only see there being a fitness issue, as attitude wise he always strikes me as a player who comes on and gives his all.
Strange one though.

we have way to much gas in the tank to worry about that we have bottom 6 security and we need to use it to sort our team for next season
Wtf is bottom 6 security?

Assume it means poster doesn't think we can get dragged into playoffs so use games to blood more youngsters or try out different formations But think we need to find a way to win some games first that would be a start

I agree, Butcher should be using the rest of the season to see who stays and who goes, in my opinion we have enough young talent in our squad with Forster, Stanton, Harris, Handling and Cummings what we need is some experienced professionals who can play a part in developing these youngsters and we should use the rest of the season to see if any the current lot come close to this description.

Bottom 6 security. Jesus wept.
Mid table obscurity is what it is. Another wasted, "transitional" season.

Wtf is bottom 6 security?
What i mean is we will finish comfortably at the higher end of the bottom 6 no worries about relegation hear7s have sorted that out and we have enough points security to know we are clear of the play offs.
Tery should use these games to experiment to find a formula that works for next season that way can use these meaningless games to our advantage with no presure
Holy ***** tell you what some folk are never happy win lose or draw and like a good moan about anything.
This has not 'Just' happened we have been in the downward spiral for a good number of years.
For me since the 2007 CIS CUP win. Instead of kicking on we have went from one disaster to another.
Instead of building a team/squad by adding quality we've added complete and utter dross in quantity.
Petrie must take most of the blame for this, in my eyes anyway. The club must have a shape and a forward thinking plan with everyone having the same ethos and working towards the first team being the best and that means aiming high not just settling for mediocracy.
A chairman of a football club needs structure and a way of thinking that relates to the club as a whole.
Swansea being a prime example (to an extent) a chairman who biting a in a manager who will bring and add to an already half decent squad and get them playing Ina certain way.
Petrie for all his time in the game appears clueless about who to hire.
I for one think he may of got it right this time.
Yes TB's methods and selections have been strange to say the least but he's trying with what he's got and if it doesn't work then it needs changed.
I am sure given time that he will get us up the table and playing well.
What I will say for all those budding Keyboard or games console managers...stick to that please.

Actually you are missing the point as you've quoted a post responding to a question mark over whether the team selected was positive. Nothing to do with Heffernan's selection.
2 up front plus an attacking midfield was positive.
I think most agree Heff should have got more time but it doesn't sound as though other forwards were missing chances, so likely would make no difference. Heffernan isn't exactly the type to beat 2/3 men and crack one in from 30 yards.
