Advertise what? That we play Aberdeen next week in the cup semi final? I'm not really sure that need advertised tbh. Most Hibby's I know are aware of the match. :agree:
I'm sure once the Motherwell match is done and dusted the site will be full of stuff building up to the semi final.
Sure, the club shop isn't updated as regular as it maybe should be but you could always give them a call?
I think you've totally missed the point, its never good not to advertise. There is thousands of Hibs fans going to watch it on TV, why not try to give them a reason to go. Its all about selling the idea to folk, no??:dunno:

Nope, I don't think I have missed the point. I've read through your post and there's nothing too complicated for me to understand.
You said that PF should come out after the game tomorrow and "drum up support for the semi". The game hasn't been played yet. I'm sure PF will or are you psychic?
You then said he should be saying "that the Hibs.net folk have organised a 'green day' occasion and that is a fantastic tribute to our fans. Even if you havn'nt been for years, get along to Hampden for a great day out. Wear something green and bring your flags with you. We've been jobbies for a couple of years now but its the SC semi final. Come along and support your team"
Maybe he will after tomorrows game?
You then bumped your gums about your wife wanting a "stupid hat" and complained that they're "not even trying to shift stuff for the semi" and called them "fricken amateurs". I happily pointed out that they are selling 'stupid hats' in the club shop?
On the subject of PR. You're kind of right. I've just read through the informative PR piece written and displayed on the website this week from RP and he makes no mention of 'stupid hats'. I've also read the latest piece of PR from our manager and yet again, he mentions nothing about 'stupid hats'.
You'd be well within your rights to send the club an email and complain
I'm no expert but maybe punting a few 'stupid hats' isn't the clubs main priority before an important league match?

Exactly :agree:
We all know that next weeks match is a "biggie" but lets concentrate on tomorrow's "biggie" first.
I'm sure the club will fill our boots next week with cup-semi PR and hype. In the meantime I'm glad the club have concentrated on focusing on the Motherwell match first.
One game at a time and all that.

I can't reveal my sources but they have driven past all 3 stadiums in the last 10 years... :agree:

I'm just pointing out that there is an advertising opportunity here that the club never seems to adopt. I'm sure every cpmpany in the world faced with a sales oportunity would have something on line to order. I can get my hats and scarfs from the weegie mob on the way to Hampden or get the old stuff out the loft. I'm trying and hoping that every Hibby that can go, will go. Not looking for my post to be taken to bits.

They used to sell tickets to the South Stand for Scotland matches through the Museum at Hampden, you then collected them from a booth in the Lesser Hampden area outside the ground.
Never did it myself but know a few who did it a few years ago. Obviously could be different for cup ties
ps I believe these are unused debenture seats

Hibs never do themseves any favours with their PR. I think regardless (and especially if) we win tomorrow, PF should come on after the game and drum up support for next week. North Stand - nearing capacity - 4,000 out of 4,500 - expect a sell out
East Stand - selling 6th section - 5 blocks sold @1,000 a block - around 5,000 sold
South Stand - about 700-1000 sold
10,000-11,000 for us.
Sheep have allocation of 12,500 as they are not selling any South Stand. You can still buy in West and North so they're not sold out
On the day our numbers will be about equal with the West end looking busier than our East due to some of our crowd occupying the South

Just checked with the Hibs and Aberdeen ticket websites. That's us sold out D1-4 and F1 to F6 now. The only tickets available in F5 and F6 are very top row and singles and doubles. The Bounce lads are holding back for section G so it's closer to the buses and close to the area where the big surfers, flags and banners get laid out
Ten sections sold out so far, 3 partially sold including the South - 900 to 1100 seats per block
Sheep have only sold out five sections so far - tickets available online for 9 other sections
I predict 25,000 - more than double the normal for Dons v Hibs and the biggest non OF-related crowd of the season

I'd like to see as many as possible from both sides and it'll be interesting to see if your 'facts' suggesting Aberdeen will heavily outnumber us come to fruition. It's possible I guess but we've heavily outnumbered United, Dunfermline and Aberdeen in some recent semi's so it would be a surprise to me.

Nice try AngusTheBull - away and **** a coo. It's not your website - it's ticketmaster's and try reading your own fan forums first
We've sold out ten of our 14 sections. All you've done is buy up more blocks without selling out the ones you have. You had 11 sections and asked the SFA for 3 more sections on Friday. I could buy a ticket in nine of your 14 sections today.
You are the third sheep in as many days to tell us we've only sold 7,000/8,000/9000. Hibs don't give out facts but then a Hibby would know that.
Reckon both clubs will be lucky to clear 15K, more likely 12-13,000 each

One of our best semi final days our was the 7k that went to hampden to see us beat the huns back in 2004. If we don't sell 20k thats a poor show from us. Hampden only an hour away hardly a tough place to get to. Expect we only take big crowds if we expect to win ie utd in 2005 and pars in 2007. I wonder if the glory hunters will buy tickets now we r unbeaten in two. hail hail tickets are cheap for this game plus good deals for families

Nice try mate - awa and **** a sheep.
Reckon both clubs will be lucky to clear 15K, more likely 12-13,000 each
Just leave them Gogs, they are obviously so blinded by their belief that they are "The best away supporters in Scotland" that they can't accept the fact they may potentially sell less tickets than us.

One of our best semi final days our was the 7k that went to hampden to see us beat the huns back in 2004.
That was a great night.
Would be good for Scottish football to see a nice turnout, I'd be surprised if Aberdeen take more than us.

We are on the back of a season with very poor SPL crowds. We have just played a game against a team leading the race for a CL spot whilst we are in a relegation battle and drew.a crowd of 7100.
Why anyone expects a big turnout in a semi final kicking off at 12.15 with two of the poorest Hibs and Aberdeen teams ever is beyond me.

I'm not sure what people are expecting here but some comments seem to indicate that anything less than both sides selling out their ends is nothing short of disastrous. I really don't understand that view at all.
This is a sem-final, not a final. I think if there's a crowd of 25,000 or so, it would be fantastic. Especially considering the current form of both sides, the timing of the game and the fact it's live on telly anyway.
IMHO, I think we've done well to have sold as much as we already have (well into five figures, at least) and we'll shift a lot more by Saturday.
As for one-upmanship between the fans re: size of supports, how petty is that. I'd much rather both teams took fantastic numbers and made it a great occasion, to show there's life outside of the OF.

I don't understand why ticket sales (when there are no problems with availability or price) has become such a hot topic in recent years. I don't go to games to stare at the stands. It's the backing given by those that do attend that makes the difference on the pitch generally.
There are 10 times as many posts on this thread as there are on other pre-match threads.
Surely discussing pre-match predictions, line ups, song suggestions, drinking spots, and even suitable attire (as lead by Bob) does more to wet the appetite for the match.
We are on the back of a season with very poor SPL crowds. We have just played a game against a team leading the race for a CL spot whilst we are in a relegation battle and drew.a crowd of 7100.
Easter Sunday where a lot of people might have been away, as we all were for the weekend, and the game was live on T.V.
Why anyone expects a big turnout in a semi final kicking off at 12.15 with two of the poorest Hibs and Aberdeen teams ever is beyond me.
Semi-final of the Scottish Cup has a far bigger appeal to folk than a run of the mill league game (although none of our league games can be described as such at the moment). This is also a family day out and there will be plenty Hibs Kids there for a first taste of Dumpden.

The reason why they are saying that we have only sold 7/8000 is because it is not being updated online. According to Some Aberdeen fans when they went to buy tickets last week all of section C was still available when in fact it was all sold out(we have an e-mail confirming this).
This is why Hibs fans have come to this conclusion Having said that, we know EXACTLY where they have sold to because the club have informed fans that blocks G will not be offered UNTIL blocks F are sold out...http://www.hibs.net/images/smileys/bigwink.gif

On that logic, Hibs should shut down the East Stand (and maybe the Famous Five) at Easter Road so that all the home supporters sit together.
The best seats, the ones that people want to sit in are in the North and South Stands. The East Stand seats offer a poor view because of the botched rebuild of Hampden thanks to Jim Farry. The rake is inadequate for seating and many are too far from the pitch.

To add, remember the mentality of Aberdeen fans is ridiculous. Still a huge force in Scotland and Europe etc etc. The 80's are gone lads. Wake up and smell the coffee. You're just as p*sh as us.
Aberdeen up their with Yams with the obsession of being a big club?

Just checked the Aberdeen website and the 10,000 tickers left for sale at their end are all within 100 feet of Angus the Bull, so they're not expecting to shift anymore.

Quite a negative way to look at it. I think more than 30,000 between 2 bottom 6 non-old firm teams, that's being televised at lunchtime is pretty good.

I don't have a season ticket because of work commitments this season, however I've still made about 18 games home and away. If we get to the final I'm in the same position as someone like you mention above. It's why I'm quite pissed off Hibs havent said to keep stubs etc from Saturday as it suggests no priority for those who are there on Saturday.
I understand there has to be a public sale as some really good supporters live abroad etc but they could give every season ticket holder, member and any others who are there on Saturday a ticket and still have about 7000 for a public sale

The thing is, if they allocate 3/4 tickets per ST holder the extra tickets will end up going to non-season ticket holders anyway. So why not reward those heading through on Sat who are non ST holders?

That's exactly my point.
There should be a voucher system or something in place to ensure non ST holders present on Saturday get some kind of priority. I've not seen anything from Hibs yet to suggest this is happening, which seems a bit unfair to me.
As I said above this would still leave a decent number of tickets for a public sale.

So people could be rewarded with priority for cup final tickets by only attending one match this season?
We all knew months ago what we had to do to gain priority for any potential 'big' matches. The membership scheme in particular provided a cheap route to get closer to the front of the queue. I don't remember anybody saying way back then, ''That's all very well but what about those who attend semi-finals?''
(And from past experience, whether you are in a priority group or not if we make the final and want to go the odds are in your favour regarding getting a ticket.)

Talk of the final is premature. Hibs fans who go to games always get tickets for finals. Never heard of anyone losing out. But why is this semi final all ticket? it was never going to be a sell out and the crowd will be 25000 max but fans always have to get put out by buying tickets in advance

I don't think anyone has an objection to ST holders and members getting first dibs. They're the ones who put up their cash in advance, fair dos.
Hibs have missed a trick though, as soon as the draw for the semi was made Aberdeen put a notice on their website saying a semi final ticket plus tickets for 2 'qualifying' games at Pittodrie would give priority for a final ticket. This eliminates the reward for attending one game plus it gets more bodies and cash through the gates at a couple of nothing games.
I know realistically I will get a ticket and I'm worrying for nothing but it is a worry nonetheless and something Hibs could have avoided and made a bit much needs cash into the bargain.

IF (a big if) we reach the final, I'm sure Hibs will be knocking out membership cards for priority. Current members and season ticket holders equate to roughly what, 10k? So potentially another 10k memberships could be sold, nice wee earner for the club.

Unfortunately, yes.
The last time we played Celtc in the final, I'd been to roughly half of home games (makes it fairly regular). I duly attended the semi against Livi, kept my ticket stub, as it was announced that it guaranteed a final ticket, and applied. We got something like 1,000 less tickets for the final and a number of our tickets were also held back by the club to sell as expensive packages. I was gutted to be one of the few that missed out in the "ticket lottery", especially when I saw there were at least 1,000 Tims in the Hibs end jumping up when they scored.

I remember this scenario. I was fortunate to have the funds and available free time (no children - ah, them were the days!) to own a season ticket back then. I can't remember how mony tickets ST holders were allowed back then but I do remember collecting quite a few, along with mates who were also ST holders, for friends and family to attend. The ex-Mrs Frogg and dad (Jambo) even got tickets.
That's why more than 1 per season ticket isn't any fairer than semi final stubs.

For that game itself, there had to be quite a few, as there were 1,500 tickets less for ordinary punters for the final than we took to the semi. I remember hearing stories of people who got to the final that had little to no connection with Hibs and being, to put it mildy, rather annoyed.
In saying that, I'm almost certain that history won't repeat itself this season.
It definitely won't with me because I'm now classed as a part-time, nae-user, glory-hunting barsteward that only comes over for the big games
---
EDIT: I just remembered that not only did I miss out in the ballot for a ticket, but the Ticket Office sent my "nae luck, ye didnae get a ticket" letter to the wrong address. The only reason it ever reached me was because the nice gentleman in Clackmannan that received it (his and mine were in the same envelope) brought it to my house in Alloa personally.

Even though I missed out once before, I don't agree with all this Uberfan nonsense that some people spout about people going to finals that hardly ever attend.
There are different levels of devotion to Hibs, from the 'go to every game' to the 'look up the scores in the newspaper' level. Most Hibbies I know have moved back and forth between those levels in their lifetime but it p*sses me off when some people think that they're currently a better Hibs fan.
If the club could come out with some system that guarantees a cup final ticket for those currently in the upper echelons of Uber-fandom, that would be great but it wouldn't matter what they tried as I'm sure it wouldn't please everybody.

I think that the information leaked out that the vouchers would be given out. One was for a midweek League match against Raith Rovers which attracted a crowd of around 9,000 (50% higher than expected).
I collected 4 vouchers from the two matches. That was sufficient to get four terrace tickets or two seats in the stand. I was queuing from 9:00 in the morning for the ticket office on Leith Walk next to the railway bridge. I was still queuing coming up to 6:00 pm when the staff were due to knock off. Douglas Crombe and other directors then took over in the box office. I finally emerged with two stand tickets for myself and my son at around 7:30pm.

That's not strictly true, it gave you a chance of getting a ticket after season ticket holders had taken up theirs, there was no guarantee. I got my final tickets through that route. (I actually thought i had missed out until I checked my bank account the day before the game and found I had been charged for tickets. They were still in the ticket office, full marks to Hibs who arranged for them to be sent up by courier to Aberdeen so I got them in time.)

The capacity of Hampden kept getting cut through the 70s and 80s as they knocked down the old north stand, reduced the size of the terracing at the east end and generally cut numbers to stop overcrowding. I think it was down to about 50000 by 1991. Dunfermline had the whole terracing with the roof ("Huns end") but only a few thousand in it. Luckily it didn't rain.
I remember going to a Scotland game when it was pishing down and the whole 30 odd thousand crowd under that roof.

Hibs will not have received South Stand tickets for the centre blocks of Section J as they will be reserved for press, hangers-on and bigwigs. I am not sure how many tickets that covers. I recall them mostly being empty for the Dunfermline match especially for the replay.

The only tickets available online at the moment are in east G1 - suggests the north and south are sold out or close to it, unless there's been a hold up in getting extra tickets online as there was last week. It's looking encouraging

40 Thousand hibs fans
Not quite 40,000 Hibs fans.
The official attendance for that match was 40,377. From memory the Pars had about 8000 fans, so a very good Hibs support none-the-less.

Not that I'm bothered - a good atmosphere is an added bonus, seeing Hibs lift the Scottish Cup is top priority - no matter how many people turn up.

Hibs will not have received South Stand tickets for the centre blocks of Section J as they will be reserved for press, hangers-on and bigwigs. I am not sure how many tickets that covers. I recall them mostly being empty for the Dunfermline match especially for the replay.
The four sections that have been sold are:
I-6 (rows B-UU seats 115-150)
I-5 (rows B-UU seats 90-115)
I-4 (rows B-UU seats 60-85)
I-3 (rows B-UU seats 31-61)
By my reckoning we have sold as many as 5,400 tickets in the south stand.

Updated from Club:-
Sorry been a bit crazy here today so later than I wanted on update on North and East
In each block we’ve taken out the first couple of rows to try and give people better sightlines (with the agreement of the SFA)
North – from the tickets we have with the exception of these seats at the front (which we will sell if people are adamant they want them) and the odd single seats its pretty well sold-out in all 5 blocks.
East – likewise from the tickets we have been sent we’ve taken some out at the very front and have gone through F1 to F7. Sales now moved into G1 this afternoon.
For your calculations purposes on the card each block averages out at about 875 – 900.
I have asked how many rows from each section have been removed to establish where we should start the card display.

It that's correct, and they are sold out, then yes, 5355 to add to total - id take it as 5k with loads of single seats beuing scattered about.

Basing it on an average of 850 per block (after single seats and rows taking away) we have sold 10,200 between East & North with sales still going very well and Section G now being open.
This excludes the South where we have sold tickets to.
15k looks very likely, if not more.

They did only go on general sale today. You would expect they will take similar numbers as us and Aberdeen. Do the 4 teams not split the gate money 4 ways? So we want 2 sell outs! More cash for Paddys team re-build in the summer!!

Why do Hibs never release this info? I don't get what the club gains from not updating the amount of tickets sold for games. Its hardly rocket science. FFS they don't even tell us how many ST get sold. Its this secret service mentality which alienates the club from the fans.

As a lot of people are working on Friday, it would maybe have made more sense to keep the ticket office/club shop open later, just for the day.
If anyone's leaving it till the last minute, closing at 17:00 does make it a bit harder to get there on time.

For one so young, you are wise beyond your years Pedro and Rodders will love the following suggestion.
2011/12 season ticket holders are entitled to 1 ticket.
2012/13 season ticket holders are entitled to 1 ticket.
Season ticket holder for both (uberfan) are therefore entitled to 2 tickets making sure the second goes to a good cause.....or highest bidder
Club Memberships also get 1 ticket with all categories on sale at the same time to allow as many fans as possible to sit together.
Presumably this wont add up to more than the 20k we'd likely get in the unlikely event of beating Awberdeen.
There can then be 2 or 3000 left for the plebs to queue thru the night for.

Hibs have been selling tickets from Block G1 since yesterday. That must be part of the second allocation. That implies that the initial allocation of 15,000 had been sold or substantially sold. That appears to tally with your figures.
I am not sure how that compares with sales for previous semi-finals against Aberdeen, Livingston, Dundee United and Dunfermline. But it is no bad considering the kick off time and being televised by the BBC.
