I've never started a Match Updates thread, so I'm sticking my neck out today and giving it a bash!
Early team news suggests that Doherty and Kujabi and O'Donovan are in the squad for today, though Claros has flown home to Honduras, awaiting paperwork to come through.
How is the weather in Edinburgh today!?

I think it's just a pity that all the games we have this month, that the cup game is first, it would have been nice to give the new boys some game time, but fingers crossed it will be a baptism if fire for them . I'll take a scrappy 1-0 win , anything higher will be a bonus ( first clean sheet in however long........ Miracles do happen)

I'd imagine the pubs will be mental today with the egg-chasing fans getting lashed prior to heading to Murrayfield.
Snow in Dunders is pathetic - supposed to get heavier later on, but I don't think it's supposed to hit Embra.
Lots of games off in England mind you.

Actually, and I reckon I may get shot down for this, I think a cup game is good, as it does give them a competitive run out, great if we win, however the aim is SPL survival, and for that we need to get them playing together as a team, with all these new signing and little preparation time, the more cometitive games we have that can't have an effect on our league status the better.
TBH I do want to see the cup at ER however I don't think 1 more year will matter too much, if we lose today.

id say that when claros is able to play he will replace stevenson in the middle. claros is a defensive midfielder so assuming he will play behind ozzy with sores/francombe in the right and spoony/danny/sproule/booth/anyone else who gets thrown on the left on the wing

Having the luxury Sproule on the bench (big asset) instead of the starting line up (liability) is like signing a new player in itself. Already looks a proper balanced side instead of a hodgepodge of guys who don't know what they're doing.

They keep just talking about the "Open all Mics" coverage coming up - the BBC Sportscotland website seems to suggest that live text updates and via sportsound, thus inferring there's no specific live coverage of the game.

There hasn't been many match updates from the "commentary team" to be honest but.......
Apparently our "defence has been solid", we've had a goal wrongly chalked off for a foul on their keeper, Doyle has had a couple of chances to get his second, Soares (I think) hit the post and our lead is "thoroughly deserved".
So it's sounding like we're playing quite good imo :greengrin

Docherty is clearly quality everytime he touches the ball, but he looks like hes playing RCB not RB...maybe he just gives more space away than weve been used to seeing at ER because hes more confident in his pace? it almost looks like a 3 centreback formation at times.
One Hanlon 'not marking' aside, we look solid at the back. Tom Soares is dangerous going forward.

Look at what Motherwell and Killie have been achieving. The SPL is rank rotten and you wouldn't need to be much more than organised and carrying a bit of consistency and threat to be right up there and to be threatening in cups too. If Fenlon is the guy we think he is and if he's made the signings we think he has then you can put that together with some confidence and team spirit and suddenly you have a lot of possibilities.
