Totally different for me this year. Usually we are so organised and ready to head South on the 22nd.
This year due to my Dad’s illness we really weren’t sure if Liverpool or not. Sadly lost my Dad on the 12th so heading for the funeral which is on Friday and then back up the road for Christmas. I love Christmas time and will still try to have a jolly festive period with rest of the Edinburgh family. All the very best to all on .net.

Spent the evening packing and getting ready to head to the Borders over the weekend - includes work piss-up at lunch tomorrow, shooting Saturday morning, football Saturday afternoon, day out in Berwick with mates Sunday and then general preparations/last minute presents on Monday.

Fell out of love with Christmas but over the last couple of years have found a bit of a spark around it again, hate the over-saturation of music and commodification at this time of year but have seen past that and just decided to role with it again.

The wife is expecting so it will be our last christmas together before the wee one comes along, kind of a strange feeling but exciting all the same.

Very sorry to hear that, Steve. Losing two grandparents in such a short space of time must be a terrible blow. As you say, Christmas is a time to be with a family, so it's going to be tough for you. Just take in comfort in being around your nearest and dearest and supporting each other.

That's a tough one to take, hope you're bearing up ok. I lost my Granny, who I was really close to, in October 3 years ago and the 1st Christmas was really tough. Truth is it doesn't really get easier, you just learn to deal with it better.

As Pete says above it's all the more reason to use Christmas as a reason to get people together.
