    Money's too tight to mention

So why write a song about it?

A song in which money is mentioned over 50 times?

(I thought it was time we had a thread for pendantic observations.)

    "New and improved".... EH?!

I remember challenging this as a schoolkid when my peer used it in a 'designing advert' lesson and genuinely believing he was making a mistake.

Turns out the whole world was and is at it.

In the UK, why don't we have to agree to accepting biscuits when visiting websites?

If Goldilocks had mixed the porridge bowls that were too hot and too cold, she could have had lots of slow release energy from lots of the stuff, not needed a nap and been away long before the bears returned.

It should be "PI Number" instead of "PIN Number" but then everyone would use 3141.

We laughed at the 1690 PIN thing in Trainspotting 2, but I wonder how many of us use a combination of a couple of our favourite derby results in passwords, etc...

When I go on a golf trip and share a room with my mate who is also a Hibby, that's what we use for the room safe.

I got made to work in Glasgow for 3 months training people in my younger days, one of the bosses was a complete twat, he was a huge Celtic fan, the type that drinks Guinness because it makes you more Irish, on my last day in the office I changed the password of his safe to that, needless to say he wasn't a happy bunny as you could only change it once a month

    "Up to 50% sale"

To keep that means the item is currently on sale at less than 50% of the original price and it's about to be increased.

Just say "up to 50% off" and I'll be happy.

The Oasis song “Roll it Over” starts with the line “I could give a hundred million reasons to build a barricade”.

I’m calling bull**** on that. I reckon they’d get to about ten before those reasons started getting really tenuous, unless they’re massive Trump-esque racists and the hundred million reasons were “Mexicans” etc.

If a man could be two places at one time,
    I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.

That's the same place, at 2 different ****ing times, Kojak.

And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles

Thanks for clearing that up! Like I needed a bl**dy calculator to work it out myself!

Highly messed up temporal consequences too.

Speaking of money and niggling lyrics. It was always “I’d have all the money in the world, if I was a wealthy girl” that got me.

Not necessarily. But the other way round, sure - if you had all the money in the world then you would be a wealthy girl.

If you turn “This **** is bananas” to “these bananas are ****” you greatly improve another song too.

Amy MacDonald’s ‘This Is The Life’

“The people they were dancing to the music vibe”

Makes absolutely no sense. People dance to music, not a music vibe.
