PAOK or bohemians...if we beat the croats.....
If it turns out we are good enough to beat the Croats, then surely we have to stand a good chance in the next round too?

I’d be amazed if we got past both the Croatian team and PAOK. Both teams with good European experience.

I opted out of the annual summer trip with my partner to Athens to visit her parents. First leg takes place while she's there. Gutted.
A romantic gesture would be to surprise her by going now though.
    Mon the Hibs.

That's what I was thinking mate and surely PAOK aren't much better than Asteras the Greek side we put out of the europa league qualifiers

19th and 25th Aug with home tie on 25th according to this but I would assume it’s the 26th and that is a typo.

Would also give us 4 -5 days remaining in window to buy additional players if we make group stages and guaranteed £2/3m income. 👍

PAOK finished 2nd in the league last year with 64 points, Asteras 6th with 51 points

True, I know we've only had a couple opportunities in the last 5 years, but we didn't disgrace ourselves.

I wonder if they look at us and think we could be tricky?

When you look at PAOK’s team it’s pretty strong. Nélson Oliveira and Kagawa the standouts, can’t see us getting passed them if we beat the Croats

Where did Asteras finish when we knocked them out?

5th in the season that got them in to the EL (2017/18). PAOK were 2nd that season as well

11th in the actual season we played them (2018/19). PAOK won the league

AEK finished close behind them last season and just got papped out by a team from Bosnia, we’ll need to be at our best in both ties but there’s no reason we can’t win them

So a step up, but in a similar context to having to play Celtic instead of Aberdeen?

PAOK then went onto win the greek league the following season (season we played Asteras) unbeaten with a domestic double

Correct. If Rangers or Celtic drew PAOK they'd be delighted. For Hibs it's tough but not unwinnable by any stretch of the imagination. Same goes for Rijeka.

Aye but their subsequent manager, Neilis Lennonos, has since ruined the team.

I'd fancy PAOK to beat Celtic. Looking at their squad and the fact they've just finished 2nd in the Greek league.

In other news Red Star Belgrade could play Dinamo Zagreb in Champions League play off.
Last time this happened it started the Balkan War.

Tbf I messaged my brother last Wednesday and said Hearts would beat Celtic.

Greek league is about 9 places worse off than Scotland.

Limassol or Qarabag. Real chance of Aberdeen making the group stages.
    Were Aberdeen seeded?

Gent are probably better than both PAOK and Feyenoord.

And the majority of fans from the above clubs mentioned will be hoping they draw us.

Every team bar kups, bohs and RFS would be us comfortably.
……. and with HMK Rijeka about to take us to the cleaners, we might as well pack up and go home.

Denmark are also currently below Scotland but a team from there just knocked Celtic out.

Absolutely, even Denmark are far higher than Greece though. Any tie in Europe is tough for us but let’s not pretend the Greek league is some super league in Europe. Coming second in Scotland is just as good as second in Greece, if not better for me.

Lets be realistic here, if the Croats don't tuck us away, which I think they will over 2 legs then PAOK certainly would. They're miles better than us.

I'd imagine the standard of Greek football is higher than Scotland. Scotland's coefficient is high because of the performances of 1 team in recent years, Rangers, it doesn't mean the overall standard of the league is better.
