No idea if he'll make a good manager for Killie, but I'm all for high profile managers in Scottish football.
He’s not a high profile manager

Sure is exciting times ahead for Killie, fair play to them. I think as long as they keep Alex Dyer there too things may well work out. The big elephant in the room though is again, that pitch. Hard to believe an Italian coach of such pedigree would be comfy playing on that every other week?

I believe that Kilmarnock are relaying their pitch. Same surface as used by Barcelona and Ajax at their training centres.

I would say that Killie appointing a former Chelsea, Juve & Italy assistant is high profile in terms of Scottish football. Maybe not a household name but massive pedigree.

I think his chances of success will rely very heavily on his ability to utilise and exploit these contacts.
    As ever time will tell.

They might have to make Killie Pizza Pies for him.

You'r right, he's not a high profile manager. But the level he's been involved in is much higher than most of the managers in our league.

Assistant manager at Juve, Italy and Chelsea is insane! Let's not pretend the assistant manager role isn't important. If you were to ask me if I'd go for that or, for example, McInnes I'd be going for the Italian every day of the week.

Hugely experienced. At putting training cones out for somebody else. Massive gamble resulting in flop and sacking at or before end of season (hopefully for us!)

Almost anything is better than Lee McCulloch. What's he doing nowadays?

Probably taking a quiet satisfaction that he did a half-decent and under-appreciated job getting the squad of players that Stevie Clarke went on to do a good job with together.

True, mind you Alex Miller was assistant manager at Champions League winning Liverpool, so doesn’t always translate to excellent manager.

Wow if we announced him I would be uber excited, on paper he has unreal experience and one thing I like about these appointments is the coverage it gives Scottish football.

I would say a coach that was caretaker of Juventus for 3 months, was assistant at Chelsea and the Italian national team is a high profile appointment for a club like Killie.

All I meant was he is basically a number two that has served at several top flight clubs, he has yet to prove his credentials as a manager in his own right. Going by the response on here never mind Killie fans, expectations will be through the roof, let’s see how he copes.

A high profile appointment perhaps but he's not a high profile manager since he's never been a manager/head coach before.

I think that was the point being made.

I agree, but high profile doesn't mean good or experienced. It just means a big name with a decent level of exposure and prominence, thus a 'high profile' new manager. No idea if he'll make a good gaffer or not.

Once he’s learned everything off Doctor football (and what not to do) and bettering Stevie G he’ll be set.

He's not but a few posters have already set out why they think it's an interesting appointment. Alessio is obviously not a household name, but anyone who has a decent knowledge of Italian football will know of him.

He'll either be a disaster or a revelation. Bold appointment by Killie.

Putting myself in Killie fans shoes, if this lad was appointed Hibs manager I'd be quite excited. Must surely have some decent contacts. Bold appointment. Inheriting a very good squad who are in Europe and a club on the up in general.

I hope he doesn't get overwhelmed when he sees the Tynie Plaza.
