Average Attendances League Table - SPFL

...for league games so far this season.

    Celtc have the highest
The Rangers are in second place.

I wonder who's third, Hearts or Hibs?

Must be Hearts. They are absolutely miles bigger than us so there's no way we could have a bigger average attendance.

That's the message I've been getting the last few years.

They're the BIG team and we're the wee team

Isn't the fact that their 2018-19 figure is only slightly higher than Hibs down to playing a few games at Murrayfield whilst their supermega, eighth wonder of the world stand was being built?

It is strange how threads about attendances 'us v them' seem to have vanished completely from 'Throw-back' - I wonder why ?

I’m more interested in our own average being ~900 down season on season so far and the loss of income that’ll lead to than bothering a jot about the irrelevant neighbours..

Without going through all the fixtures - isn't this more likely due to the number of home games v the bigger teams?

It just goes to show that having that big away end at Livingston is helping boost their averages. They benefit from 4 teams bringing big away supports. Without that their averages would be the lowest in the league.

    United we stand here....

I think that's understandable and down to the last one and a half seasons of mediocrity.

Sometimes you've just got to get your kicks where you can find them, no matter how petty. If that's through reminding your self important neighbours that they're not as massive or great as they've been claiming, then so be it.

No, we've both played Celtc, The Rangers, Aberdeen and each other at home.

You’re thinking about the start of the 2017-18 season where they played a few games at Murrayfield including crowds of 24k and 32k against the sheep and hun.

We would comfortably have had a higher average than them that season if those games were at Tynie, and we had a higher average last season in 18/19 as well.

Some interestin' attendance facts which are not from Joe Skeds internet cut and paste in the EEN.

Attendances of both Edinburgh SPFL clubs have dropped by 5% from last season. Interestingly Aberdeen down 7% and the league as a whole down 6%. Ross County replacing Dundee hasn't helped the league figure.

Our numbers have held up pretty well given the last 5 matches from last season and that we knew Hecky would be manager this season. Need a bit of performance improvement in the second half of the season to up the optimism.

Dundee Utd averaging a little under 9,000 this season which will climb to over 10,000 in the SPFL next season. Will give all attendances including our own a wee boost. Will be good for the standing of the Scottish game as well to have 6 well supported teams in the top league again.

Just need to get Dundee, Dunfermline and Falkirk back in the top league after that.
Falkirk playing in the 3rd tier get bigger attendances than 3 clubs currently playing in the top tier.

Livingston St Johnstone and Hamilton to go down a Division.
With average attendances of 3,400 this season, no wonder St Johnstone want old firm fans in their stands.

That's what I was thinking and when you multiply 900 x £29 ticket price, that equals £26k per home game less in gate receipts which will really add up over the season. That said, we stand a much bigger chance of attendances improving with Ross and not Heckingbottom as manager.

Maybe cut that to £15k per home game given the missing fans are not all full paying adults

or just as easily a couple of bad ones.

As I said above our crowds have gone down less this season than our rivals Aberdeen and Hearts.
If only we could get all you Hibees abroad back to Edinburgh we would have our 5% drop replaced.

Scottish football was more fun to watch when Rangers were crap and beatable, is one summary.

The return of the suicidal levels of unsustainable overspend (or "cheating") make the game much less attractive.

Scottish football would improve without them

I agree with your general point but the average price is probably a bit nearer £15.

Crowds fluctuate and we need to improve our form a bit to encourage higher attendances.

Will be very amusing if celtic get 10 in a row and the huns' bubble bursts. I loved it when they were crap.

Fully confident that the Rangers will bankrupt themselves again doing all they can to stop Celtic. Would probably have happened already had it not been for the two decent European runs.

We will lose a couple of derbies though when Hearts get relegated.

Average gate at Tannadice was way below 10k last time they were in the top league. Let’s hope they continue their enthusiasm this time.

Not surprising our average is down a little. A significant number were never taken by Hecky, and Ron hasn’t really done anything to enthuse fans and get them to buy into a new vision for the club. JR isn’t long in the door and hasn’t been able to make any signings yet.

2020 should be a big year for us. Let’s hope so!

Hecky set us back a couple of years and his signing decisions will probably affect us negatively for another season and a half.
Getting the wrong manager is an expensive mistake.
I think Ross has his head screwed on and will improve us year on year. Season 2021/22 will be a good one.

Yip, hate Falkirk with a passion. Clubs are in the top flight on merit and sure wouldn't it be great if all the best supported sides were in the top flight but really an extra couple of thousand here and there wont change anything.
