    Mr Hibs and Mr Heckingbottom

I've lost count of the number of staff changes Lewis (Mr Hibs) Stevenson has worked his way through.

He has had to prove his worth to a few head coaches/managers over the years.

Here he is again in a familiar position, it'll be interesting to see the outcome this time, especially with the young bucks that are coming through who will be snapping at his heals, for example, Mackie.

Regardless of the outcome, I hope there is place for him at ER.

I was just thinking the same. Obviously theres no room for sentiment but I dont think that would be the case with Lewis. As mentioned he's proved himself time & time again with multiple managers. Having club stalwarts like him & Hanlon in the squad/team can only be a benefit to a new manager settling in.

The new boss will quickly realise he’s one of our best players and there’s nobody even close to him for the left back spot.

Think it's the 10th manager for Lewis if you exclude interims.

When the time comes that he does become replaceable then I sincerely hope a coaching job is found for him at the club if he wants it just like Leeann Dempster said recently.

Lewis Stevenson should always have a place at Hibs even if it's not in a playing capacity. People like him only come along once every so often.

Having the support from senior players who understand the club inside out, like Hanlon and Stevenson, will allow the new coaching team to settle in much better, I would hope.

Someone somewhere else posted that Hibs had had a total of 24 permanent managers in their entire history so Lewis has played under more than 40% of them!

I started watching Hibs when Eddie Turnbull was manager and PH will be the 20th permanent manager I've seen. Must be a lot more than 24 in our entire history?
Assuming Lewis played under Tony Mowbray PH will be his 10th manager.

Same here - I guess I picked up the stat wrong - but managers used to stay around much longer than they do now so it won't be a huge number.

I think John Halligan was temporary so I make it 31 permanent managers.

I will be astonished if Lewis doesn't go on to become part of the Hibernian coaching staff. He would epitomise what we should be looking for in terms of continuity of all the good stuff at Hibs and none of the bad.

Committed, loyal, exemplary attitude to training, a first pick every week, understands the club and the fans - he's got it all. The sort of player you would love to see getting his badges and becoming a successful manager of the club one day.

In fact with his cup winning record it could be written in the stars for him to do it again as manager in the future.

Thanks. Still an impressive stat - working under almost one third of a club's managers.

Indeed and I too would be very surprised if Lewis didn't go on to be part of the coaching staff. Still got about 4 seasons to go though!

He's our best left back by a distance. No danger he's not back in the starting XI once he's back from injury (When's that by the way? 2 weeks? )

Lewis must be our most loyal player ever - certainly in the unpredictable modern era.

Oops. My attention was rather diverted. Well then, problem solved. That's his "once every 5 years" injury done, we're sorted.

Based on Heck's first interview and what he expects from his players I think that he will love Lewis

Even if he is not capable? That's the bit you've missed out on in your appraisal.

In a sense it's a good yardstick for us to get a feeling for the manager and for the players to prove themselves to him. No transfer window until June so they've plenty time to prove to him they can play the way he wants to play and he doesn't need to go shopping for replacements. We've also seen these players put in good performances and pick up impressive wins just nowhere near consistent enough so we know there's good tools for him to work with.

Not saying I except an Ole Gunner Soljskaer type run but I do think that we should expect an upturn in form between now and the end of the season. I'll not be one saying "it's not his team, wait until he brings in his own signings", I'd hope he's the ability to improve the players we have as his two predecessors have. Everything I've heard from PH so far suggests he thinks the same, so I'm pretty positive.

Regarding the OP, Lewis Stevenson has seen this many times, if anyone is mentally ready for the challenge it's him.

There's only one player who has played more games for Hibernian than Lewis while never playing professionally for any other team, and that's Eddie Turnbull - and Lewis is only one game behind him (348 appearances to Turnbull's 349)

Here comes the "is Paul Hanlon a one club man?" debate.

To answer your question both Lewis and Paul have only been permanent Hibs players however Paul was out on loan so there's a debate as to whether he's truly a one club man, while playing on loan he was officially a Hibernian player.
