Lalo Schifrin, film composer. At one time it seemed every blockbuster released had music written by him.

Just going back to Brian Wilson, as someone born in the 60’s, most of their early records were before my time.
I got a sharp cassette radio player in the mid 70’s and bought 4 cassettes. One of these was the Beach Boys 20 Golden Greats

I kind of followed them retrospectively
I loved their last album, that’s why God Made the radio
The last song on it, and the last ever Beach Boys song was Summer’s Gone. Seemingly Brian had held this back over the years to be the last Beach Boys song, just classic Beach Boys. Any idea when it was written?

I read Springsteen beautiful tribute to Brian/Beach Boys last week

“ Brian Wilson was the most musically inventive voice in all of pop, with an otherworldly ear for harmony. He was also the visionary leader of America’s greatest band, The Beach Boys. If there’d been no Beach Boys, there would have been no “Racing In The Street

Listen to “Summer’s Gone” from The Beach Boys’ last album “That’s Why God Made The Radio” and weep. Farewell, Maestro. Nothing but love and a lovely lasting debt from all of us over here on E Street.”

    Bruce Springsteen

I always thought he looked pretty old but didn’t appreciate he was born in 1927. A good innings and a familiar face from my youth. RIP Sandy.

    Norman Tebbit.

Sky are showing the footage of him being carried out in the aftermath of the IRA Brighton bombing. Pretty remarkable he survived that. I think his wife was left severely disabled for life.

That's a good innings. I'll admit to assuming he had died years ago though.

That's sad, Mark Millar comic book writer said if it wasn't for Glen Michael's Cavalcade none of his comics would have been written. He even got Glen a cameo on the Kick Ass movie but it was cut in the edit. It is where I got my love of animation in all its forms and it was never missed in my house growing up. I got a birthday card from him, Rusty and Paladin but it wasn't read out, I kept it for years until it got destroyed in a flood along with almost all my vinyl. Never realised he was English though, I remember him with a Scottish accent but my memory maybe wrong.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

I used to watch it all the time. Didn’t realise the bit about Kick Ass.

We were only talking about him on Saturday night.

I was telling my story of when I was 6 and in the Sick Kids after having my appendix out, Glen Michael came to visit the ward, I was so star struck!

That is sad. Sunday afternoons were never the same after Glen Michaels Cartoon Cavalcade and Scotsport were taken off the air. I bumped in to him once in House of Fraser on Glasgow's Buchanan Street when I was in buying a Goblin Teasmade.
