It was a long time coming, and over the past few years as the tornadoes have sadly started to leave us, I was worried the club would leave it too late to give him the recognition and appreciation he so richly deserves. This really is wonderful, heartwarming stuff, and I couldn't be more excited and proud going into the season. It's been a few summers since I felt like that

Very emotional when I saw the video of him opening his letter. He is Mr Hibernian, lucky to have seen him play.

I love the way they gave the news to Mr. Hibs. It was really moving. It was a beautiful decision by the club. Contrast it with his exit to Celtic!

I was devastated when he was sold to Celtic. As was he. Of course, like the rest of the support, I had no idea he hadn't asked for the transfer and that he was as shocked as I that Stein and Turnbull had done a deal sending him to Parkhead. Ah well, at least he got some silverware he wouldn't otherwise have had. No Hibs fan could have begrudged him that. It does make me wonder, though, if Eddie Turnbull had any concept of man-management skills. It was no way to treat any player, never mind a club legend.
I heard Pat talking about the move a couple of years ago and he said he had no ill feeling about it now even if it hurt him at the time. He wasn't getting on with Eddie and he enjoyed his time at Celtic and the chance to bag a few trophies.

Incidentally I used to work with an older Celtic fan who lamented they never signed Pat earlier. Said he was a standout in the deeper role he played when they did sign him and he was convinced they'd have won another European Cup if they had got him a few years earlier. Said he would have been the missing piece of the puzzle.

A fitting tribute to my favourite ever player.

Well done to Hibs for getting this right.

Congratulations to Pat, he'll be remembered forever at Easter Road and rightly so.

Can't think of a better decision from my time watching Hibs, very fortunate to have seen him play, a lot, true leader on the pitch and one of the greatest Hibernians.

If anyone deserves this honour, it's our Pat.
He was my boyhood hero, a true gentleman that oozes class on and off the park.
My username is my tribute to him, I feel proud to have seen him play in the famous green and white of Hibernian, huge congratulations to all involved in making this happen. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Its a great video, and he is genuinely overwhelmed, thinking about his Dad.

It was thank to Pat Stanton, mostly, and a Hibs supporting uncle that worked in Peacock Inn where Pat seemed to be a lot that I followed Hibs rather than my Fathers choice, and 10 of his 13 brothers, of Celtic. It was always a bone of contention between us, and I think he thought I would switch as I hit my teens and Celtic had whacked us quite a few times. I like to think he secretly admired I stuck to my guns and didn't.

Brilliant news and he comes across as such a humble man as well.

Full credit to the Gordon's for doing this.

First of all full credit to the Gordon Family for this ,like many fellow hibbys I thought this would never happen ,Alec Cropley was my favourite player but Pat is a legend at this brilliant club watched the video yesterday my wife and I were very emotional watching him reading out the message on the letter ,the best way for anyone to show there appreciation for the great man himself is to turn up next Wednesday at Easter Road against Rott Weiss Essen for the ceremony ,gonna have to take a few tissue with me as again gonna be quite emotional

Lovely news, well deserved for pat, such a legend and the one player I really wished I got to see play live.

A pop-up fanzone will open outside the Pat Stanton Stand for our 150th anniversary celebration fixture against Rot-Weiss Essen

Open from 3.30pm on Wednesday 9 July, the Pat Stanton Stand fanzone will be free to enter for all home supporters 🇳🇬

Featuring a card bar, live DJ, Kids Zone and picnic table area, our fanzone has something for everyone.

The match kicks off at 7pm with the fanzone closing 30 minutes before then to allow all supporters time to get to their seats.

We encourage all supporters to be in their seats 10 minutes ahead of kick-off to be part of Pat Stanton's match ball delivery which will see the 'Pat Stanton Stand' unveiled for the very first time.

We look forward to welcoming thousands of Hibs fans, as well as over 2,000 Rot-Weiss Essen supporters, to this special fixture that celebrates both Club’s as pioneers of European football and 150 years of Hibernian Football Club.

Well deserved and all that, but I’m not so keen on it.

Never liked the idea of stands being named after individuals.

Sorry, not meaning to cause any offence or upset anyone, just my thoughts.

I doubt anyone can take offence at this, but out of interest why not? Do you prefer the names just being east, west, south etc?

What about the Famous Five Stand, would you prefer it to be the north?

Each to their own, it’s not something that really bother me either way and I doubt many if any would take offence at your opinion. The one thing I will say is that it’s nicer in my opinion when the recipient is still alive and can be proud to see it happen.

Hibs should be doing more signage for FF stand and a large Hibernian FC signage on side of all sides of stadium for passing fans. Ideally that lights up at night.

Hopefully rename the south stand and West stand too in future.

It wasn't so long ago we would have cocked something like this up, but now things have changed (since that wee fake tanned prick was binned) ANYWAY, we are back on the right path and this is class and well on our way from misery to happiness today.

Well done to all those involved.

I'm guessing this was a relatively recent decision? I ask as my season ticket still says East!

Not before time, fortunate to see Pat play for Hibs from a young age to leaving for a stint with the smellies out west.
For younger ones who never seen him play, think it was Tommy Docherty manager of Scotland at the time said, Pat was a better Player than Bobby Moore (Moore was regarded as the best defender in Britain at the time with only Beckenbauer above him, in world rankings)
That is how good this real Hibs Legend was.
