Tragic. Great player I was fortunate enough to see in the flesh play for Portugal and Liverpool. RIP 🙏🏻

    Terrible news.

Footballers and their fast cars... this seems to happen too often.
Pretty disrespectful comment when you obviously didn't know what had happened.

I haven't seen the images but BBC were reporting the vehicle went on fire after the crash which makes it even more horrendous than it already is. I really feel for the whole family, losing two brothers in an accident is horrible. Life is precious and so fragile at times.

Personally i don’t think thats disrespectful. A Lamroghini is a fast car and Jota is a footballer. Putting the story into a wider context (as someone else did earlier in relation to Joe Bakers crash) isnt disrespectful, especially as there was no blame being apportioned in the post.

Made the mistake of going on to twitter to have a read of some of the tributes. I should have known better.

Aside from the many, many moving comments, there's the usual pond life, usually with a blue tick, making edgy and disrespectful comments just to get interactions and attention. Plus legions of virtue signalling tossers, who probably couldnt care less about this poor family, falling over themselves to get offended by clubs that haven't yet paid tribute, haven't paid it quickly enough, or god forbid might have posted something else about their own clubs today.

An absolute cesspit. Tragedy brings the best and the worst out in people.

Cesspit is the best description. Came off social media a while ago and don’t miss it one bit

I've not seen it and don't really want to but when I read the family had provided DNA samples to aid identification then it was pretty clear it was going to be horrific.

A friend of my sisters had to do it years ago when her mum was killed in a house fire.

Such a tragedy. Shows life is short.

I’ve thought a bit about posting this and will accept any backlash but as sad as it is, is Sky Sports News not going a bit OTT? It’s like watching the actual news when the Queen died. Presenters wearing black, ticker changed to black. Photo (black and white) in the corner at all times. Pretty much talking about nothing else.

RIP Diogo. "The lad from Portugal"

Truly tragic news, a great player and by all accounts a great fella.

    Life is so fragile.

Good description cesspit is right. Better to ignore absolute incredibly there is no attempt to control social media when it causes so much discord.

    Wow, really sad.

On holiday at the minute and plenty Liverpool tops around

Very sad that 3 kids are left without a dad and wife suddenly a single parent and without her partner. (As it would be for any family and nothing to do with fame or being in the public eye)

BBC news reporting he had been advised not to fly as had just had minor surgery and was heading to get a ferry ?

  24. #83
I seen this thread earlier today and just had no words on how incredibly tragic and sad this news is .
Thoughts and prayers with his family and friends.

That's a heart breaker. I've lost very close work mates before. His team mates will really be hurting.

Thank you for that. What a wonderful tribute from someone who was clearly very close to him. My heart goes out to them all.
